Good move by Honda. How useful it turns out to be, can only be realized after the actual implementation.

I think, this should be practice by every manufacturer. People definitely buy accessories with their new/old bikes and if buyers find the official stuff under one roof, it helps both consumer and company. The revenue earned can be massive.

Honda is playing really aggressively in India. Like it.

It's not just Honda, it's also H&M, pls post the complete news!!

New Delhi: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and Swedish fashion retail giant Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) have sought government permission for opening up of single-brand retail stores in the country.

"H&M has applied and Honda has applied," secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Saurabh Chandra said.

HMSI, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Japanese auto giant Honda, which had sought approval of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), has proposed to sell products like two-wheelers, motorcycles, spare parts and accessories in their stores.

At present, the firm sells its vehicles as well as spare parts through franchises.

On the other hand, H&M has proposed an investment of 100 million euros (around Rs. 700 crore) for opening up of 50 stores.

Globally, H&M has around 2,800 stores spread across 49 markets, employing over one lakh people.

While Germany is its largest market, the US is its second biggest market followed by UK and France.

Founded in Sweden in 1947, in addition to H&M, the group has brands including COS, Monki, Weekday and Cheap Monday and Other Stories as well as H&M Home.

Since the government relaxed FDI norms last year, many foreign retailers have taken steps to open stores in India. So far IKEA's Rs. 10,500 crore investment plan to set up its chain of stores across India remains the biggest proposal
This sounds more of non Auto news to me just that Honda partnered with H&M

^^ honda has not partnered with H&M, both have separately applied for permission to open their own stores.

saar, i dint want to mention that lest the admins say 'its not bike related', but again, i think we just need to pick up the part of the news article were it mentions Honda is gonna sell their bikes/spares/accesories.. that's good enough for most of us.. who cares about the other company H&M

But i don't think it is a 'joint operation/venture' by Honda and H&M - more probably two independent companies that applied around the same time and hence the news article mentioned both the companies in the same article

Definately not. It would only mean that there would be an exclusive Honda Factory Showroom located in the city along with the franchises.

Every Motorcycle has a tale to be told and there is no greater privilage in the life of a rider than to have truly understood what his Motorcycle stands to tell. Some of the greatest stories in the world are not written, they are experienced.

Doesn't seem practically possible. From when did the government start to think about the consumer? It wont let any foreign manufacturer in unless it gets at least a 40% cut. More or less. And from there everything goes downhill again...

Instead of attempting this most important thing Honda need to do is teach some talking manners to their customer representatives and improve the service on whatever is already sold.
                        1. Stop charging separately for number plates and mirrors
                        2. Stop forced extended warranty on their bikes
                        3. Stop saying we don't have bikes for test rides, be it DIO or CBR 250R they dont have test bikes, crap...:|
