[u]posted on behalf of "nimish":

i know abt this matter since its inception(2001)due to the very fact that my maternal uncle is Commisioner of Public transport in Maharashtra....i dont deny what u people r saying that the topic is already discussed....nevertheless refer to this article (of course its in marathi)
http://onlinenews.lokmat.com/index.php
it says that althought this is pending since 01 oct 2001, but is going to get implemenmted only next month.and this decision is out only yesterday after rejecting all the counter claims...that is the point i wanna make.

RFID-enabled is not one of the features according to the above site.Other countries like USA,UK are already using this feature in the number-plates.Its good for us as it raises privacy concerns but sometimes could be useful in tracking stolen vehicles(only in cases where the thief is too dumb not to disable the RFID chip/battery).

The city's cop's shall have a good time with the changed rules. Whenever some rule changes, they promptly cash it to their fullest.

2 years is too long to implement. Hope it doesnt go down to the trash just like 'Set-top box' did.
Also 1400 ( the price which i heard in a news channel) is little uncomfortable and wonder how many people will shell out that kind of amount.
