Default Bajaj Auto launches 125cc Platina

New Source: Moneycontrol.Com

Bajaj Auto has launched its new 125cc motorcycle Platina. The bike comes at an ex-showroom price of Rs 39,000. The company plans to manufacture 15,000 units of the new bike in September at Waluj and aims to sell 20,000-25,000 new bikes per month.

Meanwhile, a Bajaj Auto official said the company would launch two new vehicles in six to seven months.

Well another 125cc

But Platina is a good commuter - and an some winded MILL of 25cc will generate some customers who hates the lean looks of XCD

Well Bajaj

Will the 100cc Platina Continues after 125cc?

If not wat will be the new 100cc engine from Bajaj?

Downgrading Pulsar to 100cc

Downgrading Pulsar to 100cc

"There would be no sub-brands and no low-cost bikes or 100 CC bikes,"-- Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj.

During the last couple of months the 125 XCD has been the best selling 125 cc in India... but even then, the "100 cc Platina" presently has better sales numbers compared to the 125 XCD.

So considering that BAL would be able to wean away at least these "100 cc Platina" customers towards the "Platina 125", would only mean that this will add to the already growing 125 cc sales figures of Bajaj.

There would also be another 125 cc variant by Feb 2009 (probably the 125 cc XCD Sprint (4 Valve) shown at the Auto Expo 2008).

Does that mean Bajaj is completely pulling out of the 100cc (100-110cc) Market?
100cc market is still a substantial market to be pulled out of!

The only company making substantial profits in the 100 cc segment is Hero Honda.

At least somebody (BAL) is trying to change things here..

Currently there are no reports about the fate of the 100cc Platina..
Maybe both (Platina 100 and Platina 125) will co-exist till customer demand is there..

..In the end it all depends on what the customer wants.

Another 125cc from Bajaj to wean away the 100cc junta! With a good brand recall for Platina, this bike should be able to sell in good numbers.

Any guess what the other two vehicles can be?

Given that HH has 3 100cc bikes, isnt this quite a gamble from Bajaj ? Since most of the Indian junta has it in their minds that more CC will lead to lesser FE, and in this segment FE is the final clincher!
