  • Advent of a new two wheeler company: BMI

On 18th of Nov i visited Trade fair, it was a routine affair and i didnt find anything of my interest but as i was passing by the Himachal Pardesh Pavollion something caught my attention. There was a stall just adjoining the stall of ICML (same company which produces Sonalika tractor and rhino MUV) with four bikes. Intially i thought that ICML has ambitious plan of entering the two wheeler maket too but the stall belong to a company called BMI (Bihun Motor industry). After enquiring a bit i come to know that its Himachal pardesh based company and the purpose behind the stall is to generate enquiries for dealership. They are showcasing four models 2 150s, 1 110cc & 1 100cc, i have clicked few pics will be uploading them on ASAP basis. I also have taken brouchers and will be uploading them too.

Looks interesting! Will keep a watch on this thread.
All men dream, but not equally. Those that dream at night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act upon their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. - T. E. Lawrence

In the continuation of thread starter post

There is little correction the name of the company is Bibhu Motors India not Bihun Motors industry as earlier stated by me. As I have already told company has 4 products in their portfolio a 100 cc which they haven’t finalized yet for the launch. Remaining three consists of a 150 cc with two different body style; this bike is called Raptor 150 (how original I must say). The first body style is bikini faired bike, the bikini fairing is a direct and shameless lift form CBZ extreme and the other 150 done in green livery has a very odd looking front headlight. I must say that in terms of aesthetics the Design team of BMI (I hope they have one) has failed badly. Technical specification of the bike is nothing to write home about either. The power output of bike according to the leaflet is 8 kw which translate into around 10. Something bhp (so the award for least powerful 150 cc bike goes to Raptor 150). I won’t go in technical details further I am attaching scanned copy of the leaflets. Oh I should mention the punch line for this product “Power that put you ahead” (I think they forget to add bullock carts). This product is priced at 51000 rs ex-showroom Delhi.
The 110 cc bike is called Storm (OMHG) and I am telling you with a claimed power output of 6.5 Ps this bike can surely bring one “Storm”. This product is priced at 36000 rs ex-showroom Delhi.
I really don’t know when the entrepreneur/s that backed such product can provide resources to produce a motorcycle why can’t they spend a little more to produce at least an Okay motorbike.
I hope they managed to do well somehow, but if I am supposed to sound honest than “Game is over even before it starts”.

i still cant get over the BMW meets Ferrari logo. If copying bike designs wasn't enough. I wonder if the engine design is borrowed. even if thats the case then that's not much of a problem because our bigger indian bike companies have collaborated with other global brands for engine designs. Now we need to see if these engines can also imitate the orignal's performance.

Its about time we woke up some of our IITS and NIDs to come up with something by the country from the country. We do see some innovations from tech institutes across the country.

Till then, why innovate when we can imitate

Junk. I could make better stickers at the friendly neighborhood sticker wala.
