  • Zigwheels rates the Yamaha FZ 16 as 'Bike Of The Year'

    Zigwheels has declared Fz16, as bike of the year and hayabusa as superbike of the year.

    I don't get it about zigwheels, they rated A-star as amazing car competing with i10 that car is 998CC even less than santro 1.1, i wonder how good are there bike reviews.

          I failed to get your logic, just because the engine displacement of Astar is smaller than that of santro/i 10 it doesnt mean its a bad car. FYI astar produces better power even with a smaller engine and the top of the line model zxi boosts of more feature than directly comparable magna model of i 10 and that too a lower price. So i feel if zigwheels has judged astar to be a compratively better car they are doing their jobs as finely as they can.

            I agree with zigwheels.com for awarding FZ16 as the best bike in India... it deserves the crown.

              Welcome back Yamaha..

              Fz16 & Stunner are surely the new generation trendsetters launched this year. I think 2008 is (was) really proved very fruitful year for Indian biking world.

                dunno but adil jal is not one of my favorite reviewers i would have liked to See R15, Fz 16 is not even a long termer to get the award, i feel bike should be long termer.

                  @MG: It really does not matter which of the bike was given the title. Both are from Yamahas. Pick up a copy and you will know why.

                  Personally, I do adore the Fz16 a lot, if it only was at least 16+ bhp.

                    The FZ16 definitely deserves the tag, this bike will (hopefully) be the trend setter from now... Only if had a bit more power... aah!

                        It looks radical (atleast from the indian biking scenario point of view). Do pick up a copy and read there justification for choosing FZ16..

                          If you are so damn unhappy with their job, why dont you start a publication of yours and award R15 the bike of the century.

                          Man atleast respect the opinions of these peoples, if you think otherwise its okay but being judgemental to a point where you end up calling them lousy and innacurate is too much.

                          And zigwheels is headed by the pioneer of indian auto journalism Mr. Adil Jal Darkhumwala and he deserves his share of respect.

                            Bandhav ji,

                            Its probably important to understand and read, if not analyze the announcement post at ZigWheels. While there may be a little grain (only) of truth in what Puneet says, I'm sure you'd agree that the announcement post on Zigwheels is quite lacking the depth of a typical shootout, or a decent comparo (the one they did for the Multijet diesels comes to my mind).

                            Here are the flaws in my mind with the article. Feel free to debate, but I'm sure you'd still agree that the article could've been deeper. Adil ji se expectations bhi MORe hoti hain!

                            a. Zero objective criteria. It makes the overall piece an opinion, subjective at best.
                            b. Completely glossed over the TBTS - here you have a company which has not done anything major R&D in a long time on its own - and it actually introduces a new "modern" bike while phasing out most CI engines - that is brave, and truly radical step change. And from what I hear, its a decent bike to own as well. TBTS is the brave new world for RE. Things will never be the same again.
                            c. The Stunner has actually demonstrated the viability of the 125cc segment all over again. Kudos to Honda for demonstrating that style+mileage+refinement can be a killer combination, and for learning from the stillborn Shine sales.
                            d. You know, in contrast, launching the FZ16 for Yam was a no-brainer - that segment anyways rewards bold looks/style and performance at the slightest discount for mileage so they could compete unlike the econoweenie 100cc segment for Alba. And boy, has it sold.

                            But really, none of the bikes on offer had any new tech - to my mind, the significance of the launch and how it revolutionized its segments or the overall industry could've been criteria, but that's not the case. FZ16 is a good choice. IMO, Stunner or TBTS for what they've achieved, or R15 for outright performance would've been better choices.

                            That's just me. But at the same time, expecting more depth ain't a bad thing, no? Not when the hallowed gent can actually share lots more perspectives than us kids can ever dream. That's sad imo.

                              u have to realise that u r in india.
                              and a few off-real facts apply here.
                              for most indians, a pulsar made to look like an r1 will always be faster than the stock pulsar.
                              in simple words in indian mind, cosmetics =80%,mileage =19% and performance =1%
                              and that 1% is when ur at a traffic light and a guy with a similar bike comes on ur side and challenges u while a girl is ur pillion.and tht's cause u woudn't wanna look like a fool in front of ur g.f.........
                              here r15 is shit because if u modded ur pulsar into a r1, it would look better than a r15.
                              i have met enuf guys who haven't pushed the r15 past 7k
                              and drag 'em and complain about the performance of it.
                              we'll never change.
                              the guys who think fz16 is better than r15 will always outweigh guys who think vice-versa 10:1
                              want proof?
                              just look at this thread itself.
                              it's the indian reality my friend .u'll realise it sooner or later.
                              my personal opinion?r15 should've won.
                              btw, some tv show put the passion pro in their shortlist for the award.
                              so, go figure.

                              there is nothing great in stunner.
                              same old power plant.just new styling.
