Yep Nav! you read right... September 29, 2003!

Mags normally come out on the stands a before the printed date. (for example Rash_rp had the pics of the Pulsar DTS-i from the September issue by August 25th!)

It has a cover story of "India's true MNC", with a large pic of Mr. D. S. Brar, CEO & MD, Ranbaxy Laboratories. That will help you find the Mag on the stands! BTW... I managed to pic the Last copy of the Mag on the Mag/News Rack in Foodworld, Koramangala, Bangalore. You may find it elsewhere. Business World costs just 5 Bucks.

          Hi Guys,
I have been a passive viewer of all topics and posts on these forums for about 2 months now. I came across this site when I was searching for technical specifications of the pulsar. I own a KB 125 and have fond memories of it. Now my wife insists that the bike is getting old(7 yrs I've had it) and must go for another bike. So I waited patiently for the karizma and when it arrived finally, I did not like the looks and the price tag and mileage further drove me away from it.

The we hear about the DTS-i and the review in the mag and I finally book a DTS-i at Khivraj motors, Kasturba road, Bangalore.

Now I hear from the forums that the DTS-i is delayed while the lady at the counter, Ms smitha insists that it will be released in the first week of October itself. We have different news from the forums here.

My umpteen mails to bajaj have not been responded to.

More stuff on my KB 125. I bought the bike when I was just 19 and used to drive it very rash, and take very sharp turns. In those days traffic in bangalore was very very less and my favourite stretch was from mekhri circle to yelahanka circle, a 11 km stretch that I used to do in about 6-7 minutes that used to thrill me no end. I had modded my bike to provide for a longer swingarm so my wheelbase must be around 1370 mm, very longish. I increased the height of the front shocks by 2 inches. But this mod on the bike proved to be a strain on the chassis and it cracked in the front where the chassis holds the steering rod, but this happened only after about 5 years of rash driving.

The KB 125 is one of the best 2 strokes brought out by bajaj and in those days I used to have competitions from shoguns and used to overtake them with no effort at all, even with my emtremely long wheelbase and the grip even today is rock solid.

          Happy biking,
          Madsun

              Hi Madsun,Welcome to the Forum!

You have an interesting story up there! And yes the KB 125 is really an amazing bike. And it surely has the best chassis around with the best equipment level (tacho + fuel guage) as compared to any other bike of its time!

I just love running my friends KB 125 down the Intermediate Ring Road. But... I seriously feel it lacks that 5th gear for that top end whack. It really growls loud when racing in the 4th gear.

Sadly the disc brake, faired 5 speed version of the KB 125 called the Prowler never actually took off! :-( It would sure give the RX 135 and RXZ a run for its moolah.

Well coming back to the Pulsar DTS-i, if it is the 180 you are buying... expect it to be out in october (confirmed by Bajaj Official), but if its the 150 you are thinking off you may have to wait till December... even more for the Kick Start version (which I confirmed is coming out).

But since you are a die hard KB 125 fan.. I suggest you go in for the 180 only. Because the 150 will feel underpowered. I had another friend with a KB 125, and he just bought a 150. He compormised on the power for looks and economy.

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum glifford. I have booked the 180 DTS-i itself. I have driven the 150 and it kinda feels weak between the knees. Yes when I test drove the 180 cc it felt good. I feel the DTS-i will finally do the trick, with the wife sitting behind now(no speeding she warns). I am keen about the low-end torque so that we dont need to constantly shift gears in bangalore's congested traffic.

I have booked the 180 DTS-i for over a month now and its kind of depressing if it wont come out in the next couple of weeks.

Interesting to note is that I am a keen modder myself and have myself increased the wheelbase of my brother-in-law's Splendor too after he used to have constant skids in davangere. It dropped a bit in mileage but its one rock solid bike on the road.

I have been viewing these forums and till date, no one has spoken anything about wheelbases but only about torque, max speed, mileage etc, while I consider the wheelbase to be a very important safety aspect and in providing that feeling good sensation on the bike.

As we all read in overdrive, the ZMA does not feel nervous at that high speed and does better lap times.... Of course the wheelbase reads 1360 and must be the reason, so that we can take sharper and deeper turns without the rear tyre slipping.(I am not a bike guru, so correct me if I m wrong)

We must have a dedicated forum to discuss wheelbases and swingarms of bikes. With a little modification, swingarms can be interchanged bwtween bikes to get that fantastic ZMA feel in almost every bike.

                  Regards,

                  Madsun

Hi Madsun just a few queries .. u said 11km in 6-7 min that comes to an avg speed of around 110(if 6 min)-94(7min) [:0]

Also about kb125 vs shogun I doubt if kb125 can take on shogun, as I have ridden both the bikes (owned by my friends). Shogun is very quick and feel quick also but kb in 4th gear gets very rough.

Good so I'll be on the lookout of rx135 (old one without cat con), kb100/125, shogun, shaolin for the next meet.
I'll try to get the bikes which are well maintained and in stock condition.

We already had RXZ (5speed) and was as quick as p180 (around 1sec slower in quarter mile). But yes better than all 150cc 4st bikes.

Now if you guys accepted RXZ's figureI hope you guys will also accept the time which other 2st bikes will set.

In those days speedos had errors and I never raced with a tachymeter and other gizmos... I just liked the open space, free roads and speed. I never chased a shogun ever, its just that those guys on the shogun wanted to tease me and tried to drag. I have never tuned or ported my bike. ITs in stock condition except for the longish chassis and higher front forks.
I would not like to end up in an argument that ends in shogun Vs KB 125. Those were the days of the 2 strokes and they ruled the road.I stay near ISKCON temple in bangalore and I used to go to MG road in 10 minutes, which is about 12-13 kms. Today, I take 40 minutes.

I dont want to enter into a speed argument, for all those readings, like the 180 DTS-i faster than the karizma by 0.2 seconds makes me laugh. Who is bothered by 200 milliseconds anyway? Atleast not me
