  • Bankura-Mukutmanipur trip '10

Monty called me up, he wanted to go for a 3-4day trip. And this was his 1st trip on his new Honda Stunner, so he was very excited. We started discussing about the probable places that can be visited. It took around 2-3days to finalize the location.

So the plan was to go to Bankura, see Shushunia hills, than go to Mukutmanipur on Day 2 and visit Ramnabagan WLS while returning on Day 3...
Called up Abhinav, Subhodeep, Laurel and others.
Abhinav, Laurel and Subhodeep agreed to join us. But Laurel had to pull back later because his bike was giving trouble.

So the final list of riders were :

    Me - Karizma R
    Monty - Honda Stunner
    Subhodeep - RTR 180
    Abhinav - RTR 160

    Day 1

Abhinav was the first one to arrive at my place. Than came Monty, we had a brief discussion about the route. After that we started loading/tying the luggage to the bikes. Called up Subhodeep, and he was on his way. When he reached the destined place where he was supposed to wait for us, he gave us a call. We were still busy tying the luggage. After some last minute checks, we finally started off, and met Subhodeep. Than we kept rolling and after some bad roads we soon reached the NH2. From there on it was a smooth ride. After a small photo break, our next stop was Shaktigarh where we had our breakfast.

    My ZMA @ 1st stop(somewhere near Shaktigarh)

    1st stop(L->R Subhodeep's RTR, My ZMA R, Abhinav's RTR and Monty's Stunner)

After crossing Durgapur the road became very bad for few kms...After few kms it was ok, not as smooth as the NH2 but still pretty much OK...
We reached Bankura around 8.30am. Searched for a hotel, where there was a safe place to park our bikes and than finally around 10pm, we were sitting in our hotel room. After bath we were very hungry and were eagerly waiting for our lunch...

After lunch we took rest for sometime, than started off for Shushunia hills, which is very close to Bankura...The road was pretty much OK, but we had to ride through a lot of narrow, congested lanes.
Finally after reaching Shushunia hills, and getting as close to the hills as possible on two wheels, we decided to climb up. We parked our bikes and Abhinav stayed with the bikes.

Subhodeep, Me and Monty started climbing up, after taking few breaks in between, we finally reached around half way to the top. Than we decided to head back down, because Abhinav was standing alone with the bikes and it was getting dark, and it was not a very safe place.

After coming down and meeting Abhinav who was waiting eagerly for us to return we started our journey back to the hotel. When we reached the hotel it was around 7pm. After having dinner we went to sleep early that night because next day we have planned to visit Mukutmanipur...

Day 2 and more pics coming up soon...

            Day 2

We woke up late as usual. Had our breakfast and we were ready to roll towards Mukutmanipur. The road was pretty good, but all along the way there were numerous police booths and check-post because of the Maoists menace.

            Roads leading to Mukutmanipur

The road was good, with picturesque locations. We did not make many stops along the way because the place is not very safe due to the Maoists, and the stops we took were of very short length. With few photo halts, we soon reached Mukutmanipur, and headed towards the Kangsabati Dam...

We rode the whole length of the dam, near the end there was a deer park which we didnt visit, because to reach it we had to cross our bikes on a boat and loading the bikes on to the boat was a problem.

After visiting the dam we started our way back home and stopped near a Dhaba just a few kms from Mukutmanipur, and had our lunch. Then we again started riding back home. We wanted to reach hotel soon, because we were advised to return before it becomes dark since the place is not very safe.

We reached our hotel, than had some snacks and finally had our dinner and went off to sleep. Next day we were suppose to start early, and reach home after visiting Ramnabagan.

More pics from Day 2 & Day 3(Ramnabagan wildlife sanctuary) coming up soon...
