Oft debated: The real bullet in Royal Enfields line-up.
Its another random day and good enough for a new discussion on an always on-going topic. Its the question that everyone from the experienced bulleteer to the noob has an opinion to Which is/was the real Bullet?Last edited by TranquilRage; 02-25-2020, 01:02 PM. -
Interesting GBD Approved
Popcorn and soda is out as I look forward to this thread.
My interaction with Bulleteers has brought forth the idea that the more difficult it is to maintain a bike the more real it is. The more breakdowns and pushes that the owner has to undertake the more macho he is. This is of course my personal perception.
But I do love the sound of the thump from the old Army bullets, unlike the modern ones which sound like a tin can in comparison.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

regarding pulsar as long distance touring bike....when we purchased the bike, there were not many options that we see today. regarding luggage, tank bags and panniers etc are the only option and is same for all the bikes. what i wanted to say was, i can rip my pulsar anytime i want and still be in my safe braking and handling speed, whereas it is not so with bullets. also bullet being so heavy makes it difficult to take fast corners. so on a long distance ride the average safe speed of a bullet is less than that of a pulsar/karizma/etc. ofcourse there are advantages also, like you can haul a lot of luggage without affecting vehicles performance etc etc.Originally posted by TranquilRage
How did you like the bullet 500? I haven't been able to check it out. Considering ownership??
awesome, superb torque, you can feel the strong pull....and the desert storm etc which have those retro style spring mounted seats, absorb the bumps like a volvo..
regarding handling, braking and riding posture it is a different story. but 500 is definitely worth the money.
You mentioned your pulsar, how is it for travelling long distances with your better half (& luggage?)? Always felt them (or any other non-cruiser) to be city bikes which you only use to commute & where you either manage pillion or luggage. Sorry, except a little knowledge of RE & HD, I am a total noob to bikes
I saw someone's red Honda CBR in my area, thought it looked awesome, but immediately thought hey where's the place for pillion/luggage for tour? Haha, that big a noob I am.
every bike has its pros and cons.

Completely agree to this. Had a similar experience, and that was the time I lost the idea of buying a Bull (for now).Originally posted by princesirohi View Postso my conclusion is bullet is for leisure ride only, you cant hurry up on a bullet, it is made in such a way that enjoy the weather at a comfortable pace. at 70 kmph bullet makes you aware that you are trying to hurry up things, at 80kmph it tells you to check the speedometer for how fast you are going and at 90 kmph it tells you in no uncertain terms that "boss, you are riding at your own risk"
At speeds 70-80kmph, The ride is very enjoyable. The feel, the comfort.. Its awesome!
And then, i felt it would be cool, if I own something like this (or a HD
) at age 40/45+..
But for now, i need the adrenaline rush, back breaking postures etc.
p.s: I am still a great fan of the Bulls.

Check the ad (dug it up from my collectionOriginally posted by TranquilRageReal old school & sexy name. It always reminds me of Yezdi Classic, or even the Triumph Bonneville. Guess, the only place to satisfy your liking for it is on YouTube
Mainly European videos, I think. There are videos of the Lightning too, doesn't look that good but looks like the inspiration for the design of the Thunderbird.
) what amazing specs - I hope Enfield is listening. I hope my dream came true.

Royal Enfield - The If's, The but's and the WHY?
Hi,
First of all, I've made a deep search through xbhp and I couldn't find a thread that serves this purpose. In case, if it happens to occur, them mods are free to merge the thread.
Okay, Now that I have sold my 200 NS , my heart goes for the "Thump". Ofcourse, the offer of getting an RE lured me to sell my 1 year old NS. Now, coming to the point, I'm a zip-zap guy. Yet, I had my love for the BULL as every other indian as an inspiration from the neighbouhood. Now that it's going to be a reality I checked all the threads and related discussions to find more about the bike.
I know no bike or nothing for that matter is perfect in this world. But, I've come across a lot of people complaining about RE bikes on differnt fronts. I would like to contemplate here the pros and cons of all RE bikes under one hood so that it helps me to pick my bike as well as any RE noobs as me.
The pro's (AFAIK) :
Raw power felt in 500/350cc engine.
Beauty of lower end torque.
The tireless engine.
Of-course, The "Thud-Thud"
Royal esteem (like they dont stop you on a police checking)
Cons :
No disc brakes except for thunderbird (in 2013!!)
The paint and finish doesn't seem top notch as reported hither n thither.
No tubeless tires
Doesn't help with zip-zap and sudden pickup.
Still, there are people inside and outside xbhp who has love for this bike. So, I ask you people to contemplate your perspective on this bike and reason me why you love or hate the RE bikes. You have heard of me, But you don't know me. You know what I'am, not what I've gone through
RIP stands for RIDE IN PEACE
