  • RIDE SAFE, Delhi - Naldehra Ride [April, 2010]

*First and foremost, I would sincerity thank Old Fox sir, for EVERYTHING - for providing the detailed route map, for providing us the details of the accommodation, and for guiding us all through whenever possible. Thank a TON OF sir.

Also, of mention here is Kurtrules, who, while going back towards Dharampur took us through this wonderfully scenic route. Thanks Kurt.

    INTRODUCTION

During the month of December, 2009, xBhp conducted the first ride of its kind ride to introduce newbie/rookie riders into touring with the criteria of Safe Riding as the essential element of the entire exercise. This exercise was conducted on November 29th and November 30th, 2009, during which a number of aspects of Motorcycling were studied, experimented and put into practice, namely, night riding, city riding, highway riding for long hours, riding in the cold, hill riding for long hours and even off-road practice on established Rally stages! And in all of this, the underlying motif was to Ride Safe with proper riding gear.

Continuing with the same trend, last weekend (April 10 - 11th, 2010), the second RIDE SAFE tour was conducted whereby a bunch of experienced riders rode to Naldehra, Himachal Pradesh.

The route which the group took while going to Naldehra was the following:

    Delhi - Sonepat - Panipat - Karnal - Kurukshetra - Panchkula - Pinjore - Kalka - Parwanoo - Dharampur - Barog - Kumarhatti - Solan - Kandaghat - Shimla - Dalli - Mashobra - Naldehra.

Return journey was done through the following route, thanks to Kurt:

    Naldehra - Basantpur - Dhami - Shalaghat - Arki - Kunihar - Sabathu - Dharampur - Parwanoo - Kalka - Pinjore - Panchkula - Kurukshetra - Karnal - Panipat - Sonepat - Delhi.

The members present on this RIDE SAFE ride was the following:

    1. KurtRules (Hero Honda CBZ X-Treme)
    2. Abhishek 2433 (Bajaj Avenger 180)
    3. Shivanshu (Yamaha YZF-R15)

Here is the group, in Naldehra:

All the participants would be providing their share of feedback and write-ups for the trip. Rest assured, in the future too such RIDE SAFE exercises would be conducted.

I'd rather be riding my motorcycle thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.

It was the month of March, 2010 that this ride started making it's way into my mind. A ride that would give like-minded people and more importantly a bunch of experienced riders to ride to some-place up in the hills. After a lot of thinking and planning, it was decided that Naldehra would be an apt destination.

Selection procedure ensued hereafter, whereby at first the list seemed pretty long with 16 odd riders in the list. However, as the D-Day approached many riders cancelled their plan for some or the other reasons. However, at the end we were 11 riders who rode to Naldehra.

For those who don't know, nestled between the beautiful lofty ranges of the Himalayas, lies the Naldehra hill station. The Naldehra hill resort near Shimla is no less than a picture perfect destination. The blue skies, lush green forests and an occasional rainbow thrown in makes the place look like it has been painted on a canvas. The most famous attraction of Naldehra hill station is the 18 hole golf course that is considered to be the most challenging golf course. This is because it is situated at an altitude of 2044 meters! The golf course is one of the most gorgeous stretches of land in Naldehra.

I would give the other riders an opportunity to write about their experience, the ride itself, and the kind of fun we all had back at the hotel during the evening 'session'! However, here are a few photographs to start the fun with!

                      The Landscape

Textur(ed) - the bark of a tree with some well defined textures

                      Abstract Mantra

                      Go Green!

On the Hills - A small hut, amidst deep jungle!

Wired - A green hut's window is seen, past some wires.

                      The Way

Greenery Abound - the lush green jungles in Naldehra

                      Colors and more...

                      More photographs would follow soon...
