Default Kihim: Undiscovered Beach

At the start it was gonna be a solo ride but then i thought i should ask NV too for my ride, he has been my riding partner since my very first trip back in 2007, since then we havn't looked back, we have done umpteen number of rides together and i had really enjoyed each one of them Thanks for being there NV always, i really cherish him as my riding partner.

Finally we had 3 riders going to yet to be discovered "Kihim" beach, near Alibaug:

1) Inder - Red ZiMA
2) NV - Red P220
3) Ankit - orange FZ 16

It was saturday 26th December, i was to go to office early for a release of a project i had been working on. The deployment timings are generally from 8 - 9 at our office. So, i reached office..compeleted the deployment process and was to start my usual office proceedings soon and in between at around 9.30 NV called up and asked abt the deployment status..i said it done..so he said ok lets go to Kihim now. Originally this was planned for Sunday but since he had some urgent work lined up on sunday so we had to ride on saturday only. So, only option for me was to ditch office and ride (how evil of me .. ). I obiged to that and i head back home to take my riding gear and got ready soon. I told we should meet at our usual meeting spot by around 10.30. But due to un-foreseen circumstances we got delayed by around 2 hrs all bcoz of Ankit since he had to fuel in his bike, get the PUC, etc. etc. In between this i had already waiting for him at the meeting spot for almost half an hour..bugger..

Finally he arrives at around 12-12.15 and we start off and enroute i also fuel in. In the mean time NV already reached at Ritwik's place to get the knee guards for Ankit and was waiting for us to arrive at the Pradhikaran junction to arrive. We reached there in no time and met NV. Ankit dressed up there and i checked for mandatory riding gear and bike documents for all(as per our new rule for the rides). Everything was fine and we started our ride. After crossing a few kilometers after Dehuroad NV too filled up pterol at the Shell petrol pump and we were off. Me and NV were happily cruising at around 80-85 kmph but Ankit was having a hard time catching up with us. Due to which we had to slow down at some places to let Ankit catch up.

The route which we took was Pune-Lonavala-Khopoli-Penn-Vadhkal Naka-Alibaug town-detour to Kihim beach.

After crossig lonavala we were hunting for some tyre shop as Ankit had to check for air in his bike's rear tyre as we were suspecting a punture in that. After all that as decided our next stop was the khopoli bridge which acts as an exit to the mumbai-pune express way. On seeing the ghats NV started corenering on every turn enroute the ghat section and on seeing that Ankit was also excited but his rear was very bouncy than normal which was scary for him. He thought it was due to over filling the air during our last stop at lonavala. After we crossed the whole mumbai-pune expressway we all stopped at the khopoli bridge for some photos.

After our small photosession, we continued our ride to Khopoli town where we had to take detour to Penn. In between the Khopoli-Penn there's a wonderful stretch of around 30 kms which is very nice to cruise easily at 85-90 kmph

In between we stopped for our 1st "Butt Break" and we had some oranges, biscuits, water + a break meant some photos too ..

Our Snack..

Monkey for the day..

After our short break the total distance we had covered was about 90 kms only and the time was around 2-2.15 pm. In no time we reached the Penn town and stopped by to pick up some oranges and continued ahead.

After some time we had reached the Alibaug town which meant we had to ask for directions to Kihim beach to which some ppl gave the directions. At one point NV was leading and we came to a point where we had to take a detour to our destination but NV accidently went ahead towards Alibaug beach . So had to call him back. Finally, when he comes we move ahead and reach the Kihim beach by around 4.15pm. We take our bikes to beach for a little photosession. Which turns into a chaos with everyone shuting as "Inder jaldi photo le le meri bike girne wali hai", which was due to wet sand and it was not able to withstand the weight of the bike. Total distance from Pune-Kihim was around 125 kms

Grab a place to sit under a shack and order Poha for me and NV and Ankit munches onto Dahi-idli(bcoz he was not feeling comfortable on eating outside food) which he had took from near to place from Pune. Next on the menu was some fruit which ankit named it as "baby nariyal" but it was indeed good to eat.

My Bike was stuck in sand while i was taking it back

Look what ppl drop on the beach

A little one too was trying to get into the water..

Some dry fishes were sold on the beach..looks scary..

The shack restaurant..

Tasty nariyal paani/Malai we had..

Sunset

Relaxed there a bit and then left from at 5pm. Since it was already going to be dark in an hours time we had decided to reach lonavala before it gets dark, and we reached lonavala within time. after entering lonavala we encounter heavy traffic near rama krishna. We decide to move ahead from there at stop directly at pune. In between all this Ankit was no-where to be seen. We 2(me + nv) move ahead slowly towards NH4 so that Ankit can catch upto us. After going ahead a few kms he catches upto me and screams at me for not waiting for him . Afer that we have a steady ride towards pune, constantly cruising at 70. By around 8.30 we reached Pradhikaran where we see NV already waiting for us and on talking to him we learn that he had a rip fest while coming back . We call Ritwik and after he arrives we all go for a little snack to a nearby restaurant, where we have some okayish types misal pav.

Pehchaan Kaun..

At around 9ish we leave from there and head towards our homes. We all reach home at around 9.30 pm. So, all in all it was a good ride and loved it a lot.

Hope you guys enjoyed reading it. Take Care.

Regards,
Inder.

Great writeup Paaji. The ride was truly amazing and more so with the steady Inder and enthusiastic Ankit with me on the ride.
Many more to come in the future

At the end of the day, the air valve of my rear tyre stopped inflating the tyre any more ...it developed a crack... and moreover 6 punctures were fixed.... and I paid a whopping 500Rs for the entire thing.

Anyways amazing ride...Thanks inder,
Thanks NV
