    WOLFING TO CHANDIGARH and back

well i have delayed this article for a long time as i wasnt being able to get time work sometimes really takes its toll

    DELHI --- CHANDIGARH

The plan of going to del- chandigarh was always in my mind but was waiting to get some time off from my work and also was waiting
for my falcon to complete atleast some 500-600 km .wanted to set my hands on this speed devil before i tried anything devlesih

the plan was hatched.... and everything was set.....

im not one of those guys who packs up lot of stuff i have learned to travel light even when im going on a car + i was just going home

so all i was carrying was a tshirt bike papers my netbook ,the black visor, cash ,mobile phones ,bike tools and a duster .

rajat aka coolboy joined me for his first tour on his bike the pulsar 220 .i have done many trips before up the hills on my avenger and cb 250
but this was my first on a 1300 hyper bike.

it was made quite clear that he has to wear protective gear as i was also going to wear it.... no two ways ... as no matter how good the highways become

its always going to be dangerous... in our country

where their is no lane and sane driving esp..those legendery indica taxi drivers who have made these higways into wrc circuits......

so the date and time was set .... 11/05/10 at 4:00 am we both will meet at the delhi bypass....

    3:45am

rajat gives me a call and asks me if im reaching the bypass ( oh my god !!! i overslept!!! as always )
i told him im reaching in 30min tops....

imediately rushed to brush my teeth took a quick shower.... got ready and took the dnd toll from noida.....

the road was empty .....and 1300cc eng below me .... hehehe do the math... but the bike was in break in period so couldnt go more than 140

cool wind entering my helmet was amazing..... refreshed me totally and eyes were wide open......

it started drizzlin.. and all my hard work of polishing my bike the previous night had gone to waste ... but i took it as a good sign....

reached the bypass and saw rajat all set with the knee and elbow guard and the jacket.....

told him how to brake. and some hand signals which he had to follow as i was going to lead....

first stop was decided to be SUKHDEV DHABA at murthal .....

we pushed off at 4:45am from bypass...

    reached murthal...

got a good place to park our beauties just adjacent . to our sitting place....

had those famous paneer tandoori paronthas with special tea...

we pulled quite a crowd ....

with the famous comment being " bhaisab ! yeh maruti-suzki ki hai"

    and the famous questions :P

anyway we pushed off. the potholes started to finish sun started shining and what we got was a 4 lane open highway ........ i signalled rajat and twisted the throttle

we started cruising at 120 the roads were empty with just handfull of trucks and some cars....

rajat did a excellent job of followin the hand and light signals....

it was a awesome sight.... green fields on both sides .... cool air blowing.... sun peeping through the clouds.... and A OPEN HIGHWAY....

the panipat expressway came up ... with fences both sides and no pedistreans ,cows and cycles ..... we twisted a throttle a lil more ..... 140 kmph.... ( my limit for runin )

the entire way i was playing with my gears trying to load and underload them for proper runnin

anyway sun started rising up pretty quickkly

    we reached .... karnal......

stopped at costa coffee and had chilled cold coffee got totally refreshed.... and cleaned and inspected our bikes

we started again the fuel on my bike was now 1/3 took a detour and stopped at ambala .... couldnt find any speed 97 so got speed felt foolish for forgetting to purchase octane booster.....

anyway by now the sun had totally come up and it was getting really hot .. esp in gears....

    we started moving again......

and we finally reached.... to chandigarh

    INCIDENT FREE and SAFELY !!!

( ok apart from a stupid lady crossing me in her activa in candigarh without realizing that a hayabusa is behind her she crossed left to right without seein or even giving any signal.... had to brake a lil hard but no harm done)

once inside chandigarh we were back to the city speeds 50kmph

    CHD---> DEL

well rajat slept in my house that day....

we both started 5am this time around

    just made 3 stops

first being the karnal haveli where we had our breakfast

panipat where we met "best of rivals xbhp member" and sukhdev dhaba where we had fresh lime sodAs..

1000km came up on the odo.. wanted to celebrate it so touched 200 and slowed bak down to 120 our idle cruz speed....

made a quick stops at some petrol pumps to refill ... clean our visors... and refresh our selves

finally arrived at bypass... congratulated each other on completing the journey

really felt happy for rajat the lil one for his first tour at age of 18 on his p220

    wish him many more journey

a really disciplined rider... didnt have to point him out both ways and in chandigarh also ( i was a lil scared at first as i didnt know how he drives ).....

    all the best for future

reached a gudwara on the way thanked god for a incident free ride

this bring me to the end of this blog.... thanks for reading

    REGARDS

    LONEWOLF

    COOLBOY aka RAJAT triplog....

    4 AM at Delhi bypass.

th May, hardly slept with excitement so just woke up, readied myself and left for bypass at 4 AM. Bid a farewell to my parents by touching their feet and off I went for my FIRST official tour on my bike. Reached bypass at 4:30 AM and within 10 minutes of my waiting- the Busa came roaring. Kabir told me about some hand signals, more than that I made sure I had a sufficient gap- much more than I do while riding in group because I knew the Falcon had deadly brakes.

We stopped at Murthal around 5:30 AM

After that, next stop was Chandigarh

    13th may
chandigarh roads which are almost like a graveyard at night. Had loads of fun and some Swift guys even stopped their cars and posed with the Falcon. Then we went to an ice cream parlour and finally called it a day.

Next day we had planned to head to Kasauli or Morni hills located near Chandigarh but 9:30 AM, Kabir had to be at RTO for registration. We had 2 options now:

    1. Leave at 7 AM, rush to hills and get back before 9:30 but that was very tough as it was almost 12 AM when we were having the ice creams.

    2. If the registration happens fast, we can leave by 11 AM or so which again failed.

The RTO guys kept harassing him and he had to spend 5-6 hours there which finished our hills plan and next day we had to rush back to Delhi. He suggested I spend the night at his home as it would be better because we would be leaving early by 5 AM. I packed my bags and sat on my ride and rushed to his home and reached around 8 PM.

His mom had already order food for us but Kabir had something else in mind. KFC and my pillion ride was due for which I had been eating his head for a long time. The Falcon roared again- I sat on the rear seat of the bike with a BIG GRIN on my face and the experience was extraordinary. This bike is so damn smooth and bloody fast that I had to cling on tightly while feeling the joyous experience of the acceleration- I cared a damn about A,B OR C mode but whatever it was it was a roller coaster ride. Reached home, munched on the food and slept by 12:.30 AM.

    14th may

5 AM or so and the return journey was pretty uneventful. Had our first stop at a petrol bunk for the refuelling of Falcon. Then stopped at Haveli, Karnal for breakfast and on our way ahead Kabir informed me that he had clocked 1000 kms and clicked a pic of that figure.

A member from Panipat had asked us to stop there for sometime as he wanted to see the Falcon and meet us- I guess that member is Saif. Had a stop at Panipat for 20 mins and then rushed non stop to Delhi

Kabir took a left for Noida and me for Dwarka after exchanging hugs and me thanking him for such a wonderful first tour.

    Conclusion:
    Chandigarh

P.S: Pics have been uploaded by Lonewolf, we both have clubbed our pics and he must have posted the appropriate ones.
    Thanks for reading.

          Lonewolf,

Thanks Da. I have tasted the touring blood now and with more than adequate riding gear with me now am planning to head off to somewhere for 2-3 days where i can escape Delhi's scorching heat and the destination aint a surprise for you, you must have guessed it by now.

Coming back to Delhi really took a toll as the sun was passing its warmth early morning by 7:30- 8:00 and i could feel the dehydration so we had to stop for some refreshments, add to that 1 hour needed to reach Dwarka from bypass but all in all a safe and enjoyable trip.
