I am gonna go from katraj and the destination is haji ali(worli)or dadar east.

Please give me road suggestions. What are the general biking/riding tips i should know?

I will be riding Apache rtr 160 or Yamaha SZ-X.

Hi Zulu, please read the articles below, these would answer a lot of your queries about long rides on bikes.

I have done quite a number of trips on this stretch... first on a HH Street and then on Pulsar 150 Classic.

Since you will be taking the Katraj way, You will continue onto the Dehu Road through Hinjewadi and then continue through the old Highway. Bikes are not allowed on the Expressway, apart from a short stretch between Just after Khandala and before Khopoli.

Make sure you have your DL, RC, Insurance, PUC with you before leaving and dont forget the Helmet and riding gear!

Carry a water bottle with you even if its raining because too much of rain tends to wear a man down..

So the trip goes: Katraj > Warje > Chandni Chowk > Hinjewadi > Dehu Road > Vadgaon > Kamshet > Lonavala > Khandala > Short burst on Express Way till Khopoli Exit > Khopoli > Khalapur > Panvel > Kalamboli > CBD Belapur > Nerul > Sanpada > Cross the Vashi Bridge > Mankhurd > Chembur > Sion > Cross King's Circle > Take the tilak bridge over dadar Railway Station > Continue towards S B Road through N C Kelkar Marg > mahalaxmi > Haji Ali.

Since this is your first ride, I'll suggest you take breaks regularly like in Lonavala after doing 80 kms then another one in Panvel/Kalamboli, and then Direct to Haji Ali...

Locals crossing the old highway with an occasional Stray dog and Cattle on the road can be something you need to keep your head and speed in check... The Ghat Section between Khandala and Khopoli can catch a novice offguard so check your speed, breaks and try riding in low gears for starters.. especially around the bends of tiger valley and railway underpass. Remember this patch is one way so while coming back you will encounter a different way through the hills and beautiful forest (well, whats left of it)... so dont panic.. Rest the locals are helpful... and if you looking to take a break for food between 6 am and 11 PM... try kamats in Khandala... (I Hope it is still open )

Rest the guys will update... if there's any change in routes in the recent past...

                  Mumbai - Kamshet trip

                  Hi,

We have planned for a Mumbai-Kamshet bike trip in the coming month. Need advice on cheap place to stay and places to see.

Also availability of good food and beer?

Would be great if someone could reply.
