Tips/Suggestion/Warning : Trimbakeshwar temple is a religious center having one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The extraordinary feature of the Jyotirlinga located here is its three faces embodying Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Rudra. The temple is known for its appealing architecture and sculpture and is at the foothills of a mountain called Brahmagiri from which the holy river Godavari originates.
While on NH3 when you cross Igatpuri, you will come across a toll plaza near Ghoti, just after which there would be a right turn indicating way to Ghoti village and Bhandardara Dam and after few 100 meters you will come across a left turn on the corner of which there is board mentioning "Trimbakeshwar - 62km", its a state highway which winds along the upper vaitarna dam backwaters famous for its scenic beauty. Do visit Gautam Kund near the temple and if time permits climb 350 odd steps to visit the source of river Godavari in the Brahmagiri mountain just next to the temple. There are locker services available near the temple along with many hotels to stay and eat.
Note: The Lingas at Trimbakeshwar are covered by a jeweled crown which is placed over the Gold Mask of Tridev (Brahma Vishnu Mahesh). The crown is said to be from the age of Pandavs and consists of diamonds, emeralds, and many precious stones. The crown is displayed every Monday from 4-5 pm

... The place sounds interesting but some pics and location on map in the Visual Aid section would be more helpful. You can edit the post for that.

. While coming back we took the Goa - Mumbai Highway which was much shorter and time saving.
