  • Need Help - Plan of solo drive from chennai to Pune

    Hello Everyone,

I am planning to travel on my Yamaha Fazer from Chennai to Pune. This will be my first long trip. I have done 400km in a day so far.

Would you suggest me some good route. I dn't want to enter into Bangalore so any good root to bypass bangalore?

Any suggestions for long rides or anything??

    - Uday

@Uday - Take the NH4-NH46-NH7-NICE (Skip BLR)-Chitradurga road. That way you can skip entering the BLR city. Let me know if you need me to map it out for you. BTW, when're you planning? & is it to ride within one day?

Forget it, I mapped for you

@Uday - you don't need to enter into BLR. It would be...
Chennai-Krishnagiri-Hosur-Attibelle-NICE road towards Chitradurga. I heard the entire NH4 is great except nearly about 100Kms in Chitradurga bye-pass.

One day travel is possible & there're ppl who've done it. It would be 1200 odd Kms. If you're able to clock 60 Kmph avg speed you'll only need 20 hours. Start like 2 or 3 AM in the morning & you'll be somewhere nearing Chitradurga for breakfast.

The route which Aargee suggested (highway-NICE road-highway) is fab - best way to get to Pune without touching much of Bangalore, which will eat into your time.

I don't think so - the guys from pune were here last month and rode back to Pune on NH4 sans any problems. I also accompanied them for 100 kms after Tumkur and the roads were great!

But I have not done the entire stretch recently so I cannot be 100% sure. I'll defer that answer to someone who has done it recently.

My only concern is that I might slow you down 'cause I'm riding a 2 decade old Rx that will not cross 90 with avg cruising speed not more than 80. Yap starting the same day - Saturday early morning. We'll talk the rest. You've a PM on my number. But again, this is still on cards, Wifey's yet to approve.

                        +1

The only stretch I suspect is 100 Kms in & around Chitradurga

Hmmm...sounds sweet to me, but still, Wifey is a big question. Let's see how things go; got nearly 2 weeks

Weather in BLR is much better than current Chennai's weather ; just back from BLR about 10 minutes ago & it was raining all the way. To precise, it was pouring like hell all way from Krishnagiri upto a little after Sriperumbudur with all dangerous experiences
