  • Riding, Trekking and something else..

Every place in Himachal Pradesh has tourists during this time of year. With the onset of winters, many couples find their passion in the valleys of Himachal while others just loiter around in this beautiful state awed by its sheer beauty and make pacts with their fellow travelers to visit the place again.
We leave such places for the crowds and wander off on the roads less taken where once in a while some vehicle cross you from the opposite side and the rest of the time you are all by yourself gasping the true Himachal, the beautiful Himachal.

    Day 1

Some pics from the halt point:

    Wooden Roses:

While we were resting, our machines watched over:

After spending a few quick moments at the place we continued our riding, took a left from Sainj and reached Luhri. From Luhri, we took a left again and started towards Khanaag.

    Some pics enroute:

Khanaag has only one PWD Guest house with a single room, which accidentally was booked for the night. So we moved forward towards Jalori Pass. Jalori Pass is not the highest or the most challenging pass but like other passes, it has a beauty of its own and a charm to impress the soul in you.

    Jalori Pass:

We had plans to do the Serloskar lake trek the next day and so we thought of staying at Jalori but could not as the Camp establishment was not there now. Even the PWD rest house in Shoja was booked. So we reached the Shoja Main bazaar and found a decent room for us.

Lets see how we will score. Good Night for now.

Beautiful pictures Prashanth, I am happy to see the roads are still smooth and traces of snow at Jalori Pass. Bring it on brother waiting for more

Pretty interesting. How "bad" were the roads to Narkanda?

The roads to Jalori look enticing. This I think used to be part of a stage of the Raid.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Yeah.. the roads were good till khanag and manageable thereafter. It snowed heavily over there a week before we went there...

The pits and dust start a few KMs after Theog and continue till a couple of KMs before Narkanda... and the pits also are pretty deep.

yes the road is a part of Raid but such roads are present till khanag on one side of the pass and till Banjar on the other side.

Which means the craters are on for a good 50+ kms between Shimla and Narkanda. That is a pity. That used to be one piece of good tarmac!

The road to Narkanda from Simla took a heavy toll these monsoons.. and yes, it had a nice tarmac before..
