"A Honey moon ride with honey in search of a moon.."

Yes... It is a ride with my better half after marriage( did small rides(day ride) before marriage too)

Initially there was a lot of oppose from everyone stating that 2 wheeler is bad for long rides, you are just married, not safer for rides with wife, we shall arrange a package tour for you guys, do not ride, do not ride.. Infact i was flooded with "N" number of anti riding thoughts!

But who cares? I had made up my mind that i will ride no matter who ever comes on my way..

A ride plan was ready and all set to ride along with my better half...

A Honey moon ride with honey in search of a moon..

After lot of oppose and my never dying love for a ride i managed to start my ride.

          Preparation for the ride:
Arranged all my safety gears in order

Cramster breezer jacket, cramster gloves, Military shoes(ankle length) which i use for riding, Cramster knee guards( I am not brand ambassador for cramster),Filled up my Thunderbird and also got all safety gears for my wife too.

          The details:
          Date: 11th May 2011
Start: Suntikoppa(kodagu Dist)SInce my Dad stays there
          Halt: Murdeshwar Day 1
          Route Taken:Suntikoppa-Madikeri-Sulya-Jalsoor-Kasaragod-Madhur-Kasaragod-Mangalore-Udupi-Kundapur-Bhatkal-Murdeshwar
          Approx Distance:350 KM

We started off from my dad's estate at 9:00 am and headed to Madikeri. The road is newly laid and very good in shape.

From Madikeri-Sulya the roads are closed then due to widening of road was going on, 2 wheelers are allowed in the road though. The last 8 km out of 50 km was still pending and managed to ride peacefully.

After sulya we continued for another 10 km towards Mangalore and in JALSOOR we took LEFT towards KASARAGOD. From here the roads are beautiful as it passes through forest area and a river(payaswini) on other side.

Gave a break for our butts and also for my bull and then started towards Kasaragod. We had decided to visit Madhur temple( Madhur Madananteshwara temple) a very famous GANESHA temple in Madhur which is around 10 km from Kasaragod. We just managed to reach temple on time at 12.20 pm and the main pooja was at 12.30 pm.

After the pooja we came back to Kasaragod to touch the Mangalore highway and rode to Mangalore. Had a good food in WOODLANDS Mangalore and then to Murdeshwar in NH 17.

The roads in NH17 are getting widened and complete mess for a 2 wheeler. Gave enough break in between as it was a first long ride for my wife. Even though she did not complain about back aches i realized that she is uncomfortable in sitting for such a long distance. Managed to see the sun set ay MARAVANTHE. Here the stretch is approx 2 km and one side we can see the arabian sea and other side a river(sorry forgot name). Relaxed for around 30-45 mins at Maravanthe. I rode all the way and reached Murdeshwar at 6 pm and crashed in the hotel which was booked in advance.

          Day 2 will follow

Congrats Satyen for your wedding and i hope your honey moon t log will be up soon.

Yes.. time to change the user name but i have to seek admin permission to do so right?

            @Dhiraj,

Dude.. Definitely it is a fun to start a long ride with lot of oppose from everyone. But the feeling what you get after the long ride cannot be obtained from any sort of package tour or what ever they say.. ride is a ride and only a rider will understand the sweetness and pleasure of it

A Honey moon ride with honey in search of a moon..

                Day 2:

Early morning went to Temple in Murdeshwar and took darshan. A beautiful place to relax and by the time we came back from temple my wife was pestering me for a boat ride.

Went for a boat ride at Rs.40 per person and after returning from boat ride spent some time in the beach.

Today my plan was to ride till Goa and stay there for another 2 days. From Murdeshwar to Goa it is NH17 and approx 225 km.

Started at 11:00 am and cpntinued in NH17 towards Gokarna. Stopped at Gokarna for a small visit to temple and avoided going to OM BEACH, Infact i had been there couple of times and dint want to visit the same place again and again. Started from Gokarna and passed Kumta and reached Karwar.

The roads are in beautiful shape and luckily there was no much traffic for me. Usually the traffic is huge with lorry's and if someone has not seen huge lorry with so many tyres then they can travel in NH17 i feel.

Stopped in Karwar for some time much before the KALI Bridge. It is very beautiful and from here Panaji was apprx 100 km. My plan for staying was at BAGA beach where i had already booked a cottage when i had stayed in Murdeshwar.

After the break my wife wanted to ride thunderbird, Infact she was asking me from Murdeshwar itself and i did not want to give her purposefully. From here she rode till Canacon and had lunch there at 2 pm.

Being a vegetarian and a teetotaler i was in fear of finding a pure veg hotel. Luckily found one udupi hotel at Cancon and had food there, The food was decent in taste and price.

Reached Panaji at 3 pm and crashed at cottage after the ride, Since my wife wanted to take rest for the day did not go out and stayed at cottage.

                    Day 3 and 4:

Spent in Goa roaming around and visited various beaches. Day 3 visited Anjuana, Baga beach.

Later in the evening went to fort aguada and since i was not aware of the entry timing to the fort had to see the fort from outside and headed to the jail near by( forgot name)

Again disappointment for us. The entry was open on friday and sunday and had to return from the entrance gate with a sad face.

Went in search of veg food and managed to get one on way to panaji. Food was ok and price was heavy. A different experience all together and came back to cottage.

A Honey moon ride with honey in search of a moon..

                      Day 5:

Bye bye Goa and i was tired of being there as it was giving me a feel of treasure hunt searching for pure veg food. Man.. it would have been much easier to win a treasure hunt than searching for pure veg food.

Wherever you see you can find only non veg and hot drinks.. no wonder goa is a paradise for everyone.

Today my destination was Dandeli which is approx 100 km from Goa.

Started at 8 am from the cottage and headed to panaji. Petrol in panaji was much cheaper and i was tempted to fill it in cans and carry. But carrying petrol was illegal had to put a stop for my desire. Tanked up till the brim and headed in NH4A.

The road leads to belgaum and it is in very good shape. Found 2 temples on the route and later realized it is famous temple (Mahalasa temple??). Felt bad for missing it.

The nightmare had just come in the form of Lorry's for me. The road was filled with MINE lorry's and my wife was amazed to see such a long que of lorry's and for time pass she even started counting it soon she was tired of counting as the numbers was going past 100's and kept on going further..

The que continued for 25 kms and road was covered with dust and it was pain in A** to ride in that stretch. Once the lorry que was over i took a long break just to clean ourself. Luckily found a water stream which was like a saviour for us to come out of that bloody mines dust.

From here the ANMOND ghat starts and it is very beautiful. Since i was doing this route for the 1st time i had to miss a beautiful water falls DHOOD SAAGAR.

Reached Ramanagar and took diversion towards Dandeli. My mistake in taking decision was very very costly. The road from Ramanagar to Dandeli is in good shape and few view points. Passed Ganeshgudi and stopped in a view point from where you can see the backwaters of SUPA dam.. My bad by then the battery was dead and sorry no pics

Reached Dandeli and realized no tents or cottages are available for another 3 days. My mistake of not booking in advance, I had to pay for my lazyness. Had superb meals at dandeli and headed to Syntheri rocks. It was beautiful and decided to stay at Dharwad which was approx 60 km from Dandeli.

Reached Dharwad and found a decent room for the night. From here we were in NH4 which is PUNE - BANGALORE Highway.

                      Day 6:

By now we were flooded with "N" number of calls from relatives and friends asking about our whereabouts. Started at 10 am from Dharwad towards Bangalore.

Did not want to bring in fear in them and decided to head back to bangalore. It is 400 KMS to Bangalore and rode all the way to Bangalore in NH4 without doing a site seeing anywhere.

Reached Bangalore by 5.30 pm and settled for the day. Finally a honey moon ride with honey for the search of moon was fulfilled. Did manage to see a FULL MOON in GOA... Mission Accomplished succesfully. The thunderbird proved its worthyness and gave a decent FE of 36kmpl throughout the journey. No breakdown and no major expenses.
