Hello all,
We are planning to raid shayadri during the month of August. Tickets are booked, we are bringing the bikes from Chennai to Bangalore. Its 6 of us in 3 bikes, a FZ, SZR, and a pulsar. This is the route we have planned Banaglore -> Halebeedu -> Belur -> Kundremukh -> Sringeri -> Agumbe -> Kollur -> Udipi -> Mangalore Have attached the tentative route maps We would welcome suggestions for this trip on how to maximize the fun quotient. As a team we have covered entire God's own country. This is the first time we are doing a karnataka only trip. Please help us in giving insights on the road conditions, where to stay (we need cheap accommodations, all we need is a safe place from rains during night). If possible please send us the pictures, it will be great. Thanks, VJ |

Ah..... here comes one more ride to the western ghats in the monsoon, Can you please specify your personal preferences on food(Veg/Nonveg) , accommodation((hotels/lodges/homestay etc.....).Also for how many days is the ride planned. My suggestion would be atleast a 4 day ride.
Here are a few suggestions: 1.Kudremukha involves some serious off roading, with 2 in a bike, might be a bit strenuous(If you are comfortable, go ahead). Also stay might is a problem. 2.Is it possible to do Bangalore-Hassan-Halebeedu-Belur-Chikmagalur-Mullayangiri-Baba budan giri-baalehonnur-sringeri-Aagumbe-Kollur-Udupi-mangalore. Road conditions: Bangalore-hassan-Chikmagalur: good roads.A five hour relaxed ride. Chikmagalur-Mullayangiri-Baba budan giri: Here is where fun starts.Nice nnarrow roads to the top with occasional patches where the asphalt has taken a beating due to rains. Bababudangiri-Baalehonnur-Sringeri-Aagumbe: Nice country roads. Aagumbe -Kollur-Udupi: Not aware of the present conditions buddy Udupi-Mangalore: Road widening work in progress. Look out for those insane bus drivers. PLEASE GO THE TRUE WANDERER BLOG OF PRAFUL TRIPATHY.THAT MIGHT HELP YOU PLANNING YOUR RIDE.

Thanks Phani,
There are no preferences for food and accommodation, we can stay anywhere which will protect us from rain and keep our bikes safe and we will eat anything which is edible (without playing havoc in our stomachs). Since we have already booked the tickets it is imperative that we reach Mangalore by 5 PM on Monday Aug 15th. We are leaving on the 12th from Chennai by Mysore exp and will be reaching Bengaluru around 4.10. It will take atleast 1 hour to come out of the station after getting delivery of our bikes from the luggage counter and unpacking them. We have planned to start from Bengaluru around 5.30 am and we are planning to reach Sringeri by 8 PM. What is your take on this? ![]() Is it possible? ![]() Warm regards, VJ |

The roads are crap around Kodachadri, i dont think you can ride with a pillion too .There are people who have taken the bikes till the IB, not very sure that anbody has done the ride till the summnit. Its defnitely impossible with a pillion. The pillion would be trekking and you would be pushing hard to take your bike in between rocks and sharp turns.
