Hi Guys,

My first travelogue on xBhp. I purchased an R15 last Tuesday and Rudra (My companion for the trip) purchased his bike last Sunday. All in all, both bikes had compleetd around 200 kms when we decided to take the bikes for a tour in the hills.

Here are the beasts that carried us up the hills.

Distance traveled: 172 km on ODO
Route followed: BTM <--> Agara (Meeting point) <--> Outer Ring Road <--> Hebbal <--> NH7 <--> Nandi Hills



The trip was highly unplanned and we decided to go to the hills only on Tuesday (August 30) when I met Rudra bhai in the office. I asked him whether he would like to go for a short sprint to the Nandi Hills and he said he would be happy to come along. Two of my friends also said yes but again said NO when they could not get their bikes ready. Anyways, Rudra and I decided to go ahead with our trip. Our bikes were very new (500 km and 200 km on the ODO). Rudra got his CBZ on August 18 and I brought by R15 home on August 23. I got the chain lubed before going for the trip.

I started from BTM at 7 20 and met Rudra at Agara at 7 30. We decided to hold on to the Outer Ring road and move ahead. We maintained speeds of 45-50 kmph in the city. We stopped near Hebbal for breakfast for around 40 minutes. After Hebbal, again we moved ahead at speeds averaging 60 kmph. Once past Devanhalli, we opened the throttle a bit to cruise at 80 kmph (aroud 5000 RPM on my R15 in 6).

The weather was awesome with dark clouds and no rain. Though the empty NH7 invited us to open throttles, we controlled the temaptation to allow the bikes to complete the engine run-in at low RPMs. We reached the Nandi Hills road in no time and took a left to see the hills inviting us now. Its a beautiful piece of tarmac on the Nandi hills road. We could see the hills covered in clouds. We cruised at 50 kmph and soon reached the left turn to be taken at SH 74.

The bikes were doing well and none of us felt tired. The main reason for this trip was to test ourselves with the bikes so that we could plan longer trips accordingly. When we turned right to start our ascend onto the hills, both of us were delighted to the core. The twisties were good to ride and I got the first of the opportunity to lean on my R15. The roads were empty and I missed no chance of leaning. Although I could feel the low end torque missing when climbing on the hairpins in 2nd gear.

The weather on top was beautiful as expected and we spent quite some time on top. After staying for some 2 hrs on top th hills, we decided to move back to Bangalore. I leaned even more while riding downhill for the simple reason that the cruise back was done in neutral gear for most of the road and the bike gave me so much of confidence while leaning. Rudra was comfortable doing so on his CBZ too.





While coming back we opened the throttle a bit on a stretch to hit 95kmph. We cruised our way back to reach Bangalore at about 3 p.m. (BTM)
