Wink Quarter Saddle-Sore

Hi all,
This is my first attempt at writing a travelogue of sorts. Hope it’s a good read.
Well … No words to describe!! Was a *brilliant* ride.

Wanted to do this (400km in a day) for a long time now. The prev longest was 385 The thought had been crossing my mind quite a few times from the past 10 days. Didn’t wake up early on Saturday (10th Sept) But not today!
And, yeah, my 1st solo ride! As I decided this only late-nyt s'day, couldn't call my frn Harsha !

Left home @ 6:15 AM. I 'm put up in Arekere MICO Layout, off Bannergatta Rd. Took the Nice Road till Tumkur Rd. (A toll of Rs 40.) Reached Nice Rd Junction at 6.23 AM. Paid the toll. Was welcomed by a Red Monster Saw a guy in Rider’s Jacket next to the bike! . . Hmm.. had a stare at it’s sheer compactness and looks (the trellis frame, demands/attracts a look of awe)

Reached Tumkur Rd by 6.45 I guess. The moment I entered NH-4, I saw 2 more Super-bikes (A FireBlade, couldn’t see the other one as it was parked behind the barricade.) I made a move and took the Expressway. About 10km, one has to keep left to go onto the NH-48 (The Mangalore-Bangalore Highway) Brilliantly constructed Rd. Kept at constant speeds of over 100 Was amazing. The bike (well.. I ride an R15) encourages u to tuck-in under the fairing so much The moment I tucked in the speedo blasted past the 115 .. 120 …

As the sun switched sides over my shoulders, I drove carefully enjoying the scenery, appreciating the road, surroundings, bike .. I had covered abt 110km as I stopped to take a few snaps. (Had completed 12000 on the ODO) It was about 7.35 AM. Took a break for abt 10 min and moved on.

The plan was to stop at Mayura Hotel, Bellur-Cross, for breakfast. And the ride till Hassan and then back home! I was about 5km from Hotel Mayura as I saw a flurry of Super bikes in the RVM! With headlights ON, they were zooming toward me as if they were all ZEROING IN on me The first to blast past me (wbrooom) was a silver colored busa (Suzuki Hayabusa). Well the bikes kept coming closer in my RVM and as quick as they disappeared from the mirror and went past me. A couple of fireblades, monster … Couldn’t even recognize some of them. They were all doing 150, 160+ I believe! And, I was doing 100s.

I know what u r all thinking… He he I dibn’t even bother to try catching up

Well, I was riding as usual when the scare of my life came! A biker blasted past me at speeds close to 200! Was a monster I think. Ufffh.. The noise sent a tickle through my spinal cord! Man, Couldn’t he have flashed! Well.. at this point I would like to share something that struck to my mind. “Usage of HORN at high speeds on a highway is like trying to draw attention from a dead man. U just can’t hear ANYTHIN! Zilch!”

I though / hoped they would all stop at Mayura But, a couple of km ahead came the Toll Plaza. And, all of them parked the bikes in front of the closed Toll Booth Entry/Exit! I went a lil ahead n then came a thought- what if they went back n din’t come any further. I wanted to see the bikes from close corner and take a few snaps. (Had once seen Duc MultiStrada, BMW R GS1200, Suzuki Intruder, along with 2 R1s, an MT01, and a mod white busa on NH7-Hyd. And din’t click any snaps )

So, I just parked my bike by the side of the road n went n spoke to a couple of guys. Asked if they won’t mind if I clicked a few snaps. Of-course they din’t mind There was a traffic jam there. All the on-goers stopped to peek at the WOW looking bikes!! In-fact a lorry driver left his lorry stranded in the middle of the road and came running with a cam! Was hilarious He was aked to park his lorry (LOL) properly and come back :P

Oh wait wait wait… This is not all! A couple of minutes later arrived 3 more bikes!! Which ones??! The Ducati DIAVEL in black!! Oh My GOD!! Awesomely brilliant. An MT-01 and a Triumph.. Yes Triumph! Hadn’t seen any in flesh till date! A triumph Tiger!! (actually, I hadn’t even heard of the name “Tiger” :P ) I ‘ll tell u.. It is one HHUGE of a bike! Took a couple of Close-Ups. Heard one of the riders suggest that they go a lil further for b’fast. I hoped it was Mayura :P . Heard one of the riders suggest that they go a lil further for b’fast. I hoped it was Mayura :P And, they zoomed one after the other. Each one like a flight take-off. The R1 guy ripped it apart in 1st gear!!

I caught-up with them at the Hotel. And there was a swarm of people (yes! They were gathering like bees) around the bikes!! A crowd even came over in an goods auto! Of-course, who wants to miss a chance to look at those Beasty Beauties! Actu, they all din’t bother to even sit on the bikes

I had my b’fast. Clicked a few snaps and proceeded towards Hassan at 8.30 AM. The road narrowed from a Dual-Carriage to Single-Carriage. I lowered my speeds and proceeded. Reached Hassan by-pass road and the trip meter read 202+ km It was 9.45 AM. I had seen a CCD somewhere there on G-maps. But couldn’t find 1 Wanted to have some liquid food. Called one of my friends and I was directed to go to a CCD near Channarayapatna. So did I. Had a Tropical Iceberg (that’s the only coffee/tea I hav in CCDs.) Few more snaps and I left from there at 10.45.

Did some insane(not really) speeds (constant ones.) Never beyond the control (today, “control” for me was quite stringent – self imposed). I used to slow down a lot even if I saw a stray dog sleeping by the side of the road :P

I was about 15 odd km to Nelamangala (NH-4) and the bike went into reserve. The ‘F’ guage popped out! No no.. Not that ‘F’:P ! Well, ‘F’ guage is another Trip meter in R15 which pops the reading of km when the amount of fuel is 1.9l I thought I could make it till my house! Though wasn’t v sure! I haven’t yet let my bike taste PSU fuel “Shell loyalist!” I planned to take the Nice Rd back home. Took a right onto NH-4 at Nelamangala. Continued at speeds of 75-85. For me, I had reached city limits

But, I missed the Nice Rd by a whisker Went slowly ahead to find a divider and found none until I had gone past close to 10km. Now, didn’t wan’t to risk an empty tank on Nice Rd I would be a dead man! So, decided to go to Yeshwanthpur Shell bunk. Filled up my bike’s tank to the brim. Took the Outer Ring Rd till Mys Rd junction. I had some work in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, completed it and proceeded toward my house in snail-paced traffic Reached home @ 1:30 PM with the Trip meter showing 404 and odd km!

All in all an amazing start to the day!!

PS: Any of the riders on those superbikes here?
The title is just a humor attempt
