A short trip to Bangalore But Made a Wrong Turn

This is my first trip and it was long overdue.I was planning for this trip like for past one month, And am so Excited about it. My dream was to go for long trip during college days with my pulsar 150 cc bike but my parents never allowed. Now it’s been two years since I completed my graduation and I bought Pulsar 220 Dts-I 2 months Back, And during office hours I use to read xbhp -The Tourer section and day by day My level of interest and excitement increased.

Finally I decided to go for long trip atleast Bangalore, people here goes trip lik leh etc.But for me this is gonna be the first time so I need to understand my riding skills, health etc so decided The first tour gonna be bangalore.

At First I decided it’s gonna be solo Trip but later my friend also shows interest towards the long trip so he also accompanied.He also has Pulsar 220 Dts-I 3 months old.He’s a Movie artist so need to plan the schedule according to him and I also applied for leave according to that, My parents Didn’t show any interest but I started my preparation finally my mom accepted but my Dad said Big NO. Same thing happens in my friends home as well.But finally we both decided whether they accept or not we are going to Garden city.

The Date Fixed:9-9-2011 to 11-9-2011

My Friend Works in Bangalore Infosys so accommodation not an issue even If he may said any excuse my relatives are there so We are confident that we wont be in streets during Night time looking for Lodge.

The day before the road trip

We Planned to start our journey on Friday early morning so I put leave on Thursday also. Started packing my things and smile all over my face, just Its gonna be two days trip but I packed like am going for World tour and even mom saw the funnier side while am packing.

And next thing I did, Took my ride to local mechanic to check the Engine oil level, Disc oil level and done the chain lube, done a complete check .Good to know My ride is in good shape after came home Bribe my brother to do water wash and wax polish for 50rs and one round in my bike he agreed for that deal. After he Did, He called me and I was amazed to see my Ride shining in front of my home.


After that I don’t know how to spend my time just reading more forums look for tips and creating playlist in my N900 and bought a small note pad just to make a note of Km etc. Around 10Pm my friend came to my home and he was fully drenched heavy rain over here on Thursday and I told him about the plan and how to ride, Need to maintain distance speed etc and he shake his head as if he knows everything about touring. so I stopped talking went to sleep but my friend sitting at facebook wasting time I was Afraid whether he will woke up at right time, And I kept alarm went to sleep.

I woke up sharply at 3.15Am and good to see my mom also woke up and asked my friend to get ready and Haah he’s demanding for bed coffee .


But good to see Finally he shows some Enthu, He started make note of route map even though we have Gps, we feel making note of important places it’s a good thing to do and took bath time goes by sadly we started at 5.15am. Hmm 45 min delay I encouraged myself “so what we are here to enjoy the Road-trip”.





We started and hit the main road went to petrol Bunk fill up the tank . Check the Tyre pressure and did a thumbs up and started cruising around 75km. We went to Tambaram from there we took the shortest route through mudichur and reached oragadam, Took the First butt break around 6.45am near oragadam.

And from there we started towards sriperumbudur roads are good still doing around 75km mind that these are village roads not highways so we don’t want to speed up, reached sriperumbudur around 7.15 am
We had some confusion with the route instead of taking bangalore Bypass we went inside the town sriperumbudur came back and reached the correct route started cruising around 85km saw few temples on the way to vellore. It was nice and particularly this temple Picture mentioned below, Had Kinda check post for that temple only vip allowed it seems.

Reached vellore around 8.45 took butt break for 5 min and good to see the roads are awesome.



After the butt break we again started crossed the Vellore bridge around 9am stomach started making some weird sound.We both are hungry look for hotel finally we got one, ate two sets of Dosa one Vadai and final touch slice one bottle. Hmmm we both stuffed..
After the breakfast we started around 9.15am and maintained good speed. saw a coconut shop took a break around 9.45am.Elaynir we use to say in tamil wow It was awesome and felt good.



After that we started riding continously because we came to know yet to cover a lot so didn’t stop anywhere riding continously and just took 2min or 3min to take a snap and started riding In the mean time people use to say Lights on they show the sign and I show thumb’s up lol for them we both looks like Dumb people Heeee..

The places are beautiful long stretch roads and u can see full of mountains and trees so amazed, and also thought why people miss this kinda life especially myself.

When I saw this Board “OMG Another 100 more km to reach krishnagiri” And I told my friend vishwa to speed up the pace and he also agreed to that and from now on till we reach krishnagiri we didnot stop for any pictures.

After crossed the vellore vishwa told there is a shooting spot over there where they took the climax scene for the movie Muran we went to that place took few snaps. And also we did Off-Road near the shooting spot for 2km and came back.

After Off-Road for few km we took rest for about 10minutes near the shooting spot. The place was pretty cool and I enjoyed sitting over the stones watch the vehicles pass by waving hands .

We started riding in the meantime my friend sriram called me and shouted at us why we took so long to reach krishnagiri. We cut the call started listening Three doors Down J and cruising around 80km and finally we crossed the krishnagiri near the junction confirmed the route to bangalore took right turn and HERE WE ARE Hosur route..








Hosur Roads are Pretty Good Up and down and we are enjoying the ride, Suddenly vishwa told to stop and he said He’s ride not able to push the speed above 85km so we interchange our bikes and rode samething happen in my ride not able to cross above 90km, So we conclude because of the road up and down it happens like that, But still am not convinced with that told to vishwa will start rip our bike for few km he also agreed.
We started riding our own bike just did a normal Rpm shift around 6k and bang on baby goes around 125km without lean and his ride also doing around 123km so we satisfied and told each other because of the steep road it happens and came back to our normal speed and maintained the same and in no time we reached hosur.



Crossed the Hosur bridge and our friend waiting for us spoke with him for few minutes and from there went to juice parlour and drank two cup of Sattukudi and Two scoop of chocolate ice-cream HO-boy am satisfied Finally, And from there we went to his home parked the bike outside and I was angry about that but he convinced me saying securd area vip residential area etc etc.But the place looks good,On that time Strikes me “HMMM NEED TO HAVE DISC LOCK” .

We reached his home around 12pm and took rest for about 2 hours in the meantime we planned to go for movie at pvr, Rise of the planet so we decide to book the ticket through online. I was shocked to see each ticket cost 280rs.I was like Wtf 280rs for each member but vishwa interested to watch the movie, so we booked the ticket for night show and around 5.30pm we started and I was afraid will there be any traffic because of peak hours.
Superb Road between Hosur and Bangalore till Silk Board there is no traffic at all.After crossed the Electronic city Bridge traffic started but it was quite manageable Not like Chennai traffic and we reached Pvr.Wow it was awesome done some few shopping and it’s a good place to chill during weekends.

We took some few pictures near the movie poster and near some classic resturant lol at the age of 22 still shows kid kinda of attitude.

After the movie we started from Pvr around 11.30pm, when we came outside people are standing near the enterance, omg rain started at bangalore also, so we waited for 15min and rain slightly slows down I said to my friends will start moving getting late so we started while there was a slight drizzle.
While we started riding at Electronic city Bridge Rain started heavily I was fully drenched, And I was cruising above 100km all the time, Never seen a bridge long for 11km. It was too good to ride over the bridge.

I was scared when sriram and Vishwa played Pranks at me saying cops chasing me, I was doing 130km in electronic city bridge around midnight





From there We reached the Hosur toll gate and we took rest and thinking about the Dinner at the time I was doing some Few tricks with my Bike small stunts and they both are amazed to see .

Finally, we got a hotel near Hosur and ate with full satisfaction And shocked to see the bill was just 200rs and also had a cup of Chai and we left the hotel, At that time I came to know that foods are cheap in Bangalore. I mean only foods J
Reached home around 1.15am, saw the Pictures and went to sleep around 2am, Our day 2 plan was to woke up around 7am and need to cover lots of places and same thing happen once again plan failed, And the culprit this time It was me J slept till 9am and we played near the varanda for few minutes finally left the home around 11am.

We started around 11am took some few snaps while riding and in no time we reached Electronic city. once again no traffic between hosur and Bangalore.
Such a Beautiful entrance for the home loved every bit of it.

And I forgot to tell about the Electronic City toll gate, Omg we need to pay for Two wheelers also and that too 25rs to and fro. I was like Wtf for two wheelers!! This is the first time am seeing and I was like Grrr showing my anger towards the Toll Employee poor Fellow





Saw the Infosys building, It was awesome and next to that I saw slum area, On that time I remembered Sivaji Movie dialog “The poor get poorer and the rich get richer”.








When I took this picture I thought something wrong with my digital camera but finally came to know that the design of the building constructed like that lol at the time I feel embarrassed.

From there we went to cinepolis for bowling, It was good nice music and nice atmosphere we enjoyed over there and from there we went to national Park and again the road towards the national park was pleasant surrounded with tress.

After we left the National Park Again rain started, I was ready to ride but my friends not, wasted like one hour sitting simply near the shop.







From there we went to hotel had lunch and top up the Petrol and also checked the Tyre pressure from there we planned to go Mysore but sriram said it will take time like 150km away from bangalore so we canceled the plan and went to museum and also finally went to Brigade road.
Done few shopping and finally we went to garuda mall and vishwa rocked over there, Helix they sponsored few programs and we guys participated without any hesitation and finally vishwa won the dance competation and 1500rs worth ticket for LA Tomatina in greens emrald. I was thinking It will be like “zindagi na milegi dobara”movie, And myself and sriram got some participation Gifts and spoke with few Dj and we decided to go UB city.

Again rain stopped us took 30min break and while on the way to ub city, Most of the time vishwa will go front with Pillion sriram and I will tail them, Man it was so difficult to tail vishwa but I managed all the time, And near the UB city we are not supposed to take right turn Sign board Mentioned, But stupid sriram insist to take right Turn Waw..We caught by police,


The SI didn’t ask anything straightaway 500rs I was explaining to him but he doesn’t mind and while he chews the language English I was burst into Laugh. He was saying “Law same for everyone no Right turn made right turn Give 500rs and Go”


Finally we convinced him saying we are from Chennai etc etc, End up giving 200rs. And it goes from sriram’s pocket because he’s the one insisted us to go “PODA PODA”..!!
And near the UB City we saw Few Famous Pubs and Harley showroom I was glued to the showroom Glass.

And from there we started back to home and Tomorrow we planned to ride back to Chennai and I was not satisfied with the trip not able to cover Nandi hills and ghost town but sriram encouraged always there is a next time .
We finished our dinner at UB city- subway started back to home, Guys believe u me, Three times we caught by cops for Checking whether drunk and drive, good thing we don’t have drinking habit that’s why we escaped. I can see most of the guys caught by police between age 20 to 24 and even girls standing over there, And lol everytime when I caught by police I use to start my History “Sir, Am from Chennai” J Bla Bla, And after all this we stopped our bike near china town restaurant had some few chilly chicken and finally we reached home around 2am.

Before going to sleep little bit sad that not able to cover tourist spots but still always there is a next time this our first experience so I encouraged myself and went to sleep around 2.45am.


Day 3


Ride Back to home

The usual we woke up around 9am went for breakfast Nilgiris came back home took bath and started packing my things and dull face allover. I tought of staying for another one day to cover Ghost town and nandi Hills bad luck vishwa have some schedule on Monday.
So we started around 12pm we calculated and we hope that will be reaching around 6pm. But it doesn’t happen, This is the turning point we are waiting for.





We started and from the beginning itself we maintain good speed around 85km and near krishnagiri we took a butt break and we so happy we crossed the Hosur within 30min, took few snaps and started again.

After the butt break we again started and in our mind only thing which runs reach home as soon as possible, That’s the biggest mistake we did, We forgot about the krishnagiri junction we just went straight ahead over the bridge riding,riding for about 100km in the meantime we saw the milestones showing 12km to Dharmapuri, 50km to salem but Fool we didn’t mind that.


We keep on riding suddenly vishwa stopped and saying he kinda feel sleepy and I got angry and scold him, how it possible to get sleep after 8 hours of sound sleep. we again started riding again after few km he stopped said not able to ride further so we decided to take power nap for 15min.

We took rest and for 15min at that I was suspicious saying to him ”MAMS ARE WE IN RIGHT TRACK I DOUBT IT” he also said he had the same doubt, So we took the gps and checked Bang on we are 3km away from salem town, By seeing that I don’t know how to react we went 100km Wrong route he went to sleep for 15min and at that time I called my mom said we are near to salem, She shouted at me but Finally she end the call saying “K While coming get salem mango” saw the funnier side in that. I also took rest for few minutes.
We enquired about the route people said go to Dharmapuri from there take a right turn and go towards vellore and few people said road wont be nice better go back to krishnagiri and towards Chennai.we also thought the same thing but 100km far. check the fuel indicator and we started riding back to krishnagiri.





We both are little bit frustrated we have the route map gps etc still we went like noob without using the gadgets.we started rip our bike maintaining speed above 100km for more than 1hour 10min and we reached krishnagiri junction saw that bypass bridged and kicked myself wasted 200km riding and we also feel tired but we didn’t take any rest and I strictly told my friend next Pit stop gonna be at vellore which is again 150km travel, He also agreed.

And we reached Ambur for lunch and we had famous Ambur biryani but I didn’t like much mom biryani always better anytime J
From there we started again maintained constant speed around 80km and always we had a eye on fuel indicator, Because we don’t want to top-up till we reach Chennai. Again we took butt break for 5min, changing the song playlist and also to take few snaps.



After the Butt break while starting vishwa went front and while I start my bike dropped by cell took and connect the headset, helmet and started riding and for 4 to 5km am not able to catch vishwa and checked the speed I was doing around 85km and I was afraid is it something happened to him or is he coming behind me so I stopped and call him he didn’t attend, I got tense again called him finally he pick the call and I shouted at him like anything “cant u see behind whether am coming or not cant u see the headlight if not wont u stop”
We had little bit of misunderstanding, This is the first time we had a quarrel and finally we both compromised and started riding again rain started I told him to continue but he’s not willing to do, so parked our bike near tea shop, Had a cup of tea and biscuit at the time I was asking how many km to reach sriperumbudur, He replied will be around 40km I was happy hearing that. After the rain stopped we again started moving.



After 30km I was expecting gonna reach sriperumbudur soon but my happiness went vain, A milestone board shows another 60km to sriperumbudur I was like Wtf, and scolded the guy like anything inside my heart.
We took a small Diversion towards Chengalpattu from there we can reach my place vishwa decided to go but I don’t want take that risk sometime’s it may be long route so we stick with normal plan ahead to sriperumbudur.

The skies are getting cloudy and dark and we are 40km away from sriperumbudur and both the bikes gonna hit the reserve soon.car tourist bus they play rough and I was getting mad about that, My head feel itchy so, we both took the helmet of and strapped along with bad that’s the biggest mistake we did. Lots of insect hit my eyes and I feel very very difficult to ride, At that time I learnt we need to have plain glass for night driving.


Finally, We reached sriperumbudur junction and I told my friend we already run 40km in reserve he said don’t worry we can manage from there we took oragadam route to reach tambaram, My god it was complete dark and few pathholes we hit.


Vishwa told me to go front as he’s doesn’t have proper visibility of the road.we crossed through those village road and we finally reached tambaram we both are completely exhausted and in reserve we drove from about 75km any time bike will stop.I shouted at him not to take any further adventures risk. So we top-up the petrol my god that bunk doesn’t have speed so we put only one liter of petrol and we reached near tambaram mudichur road, And again I don’t want to face traffic near perungalathur so I took him for short route.
It was like off-road during night time and he was shouting all the way and I didn’t mind felt happy gonna reach home soon, so I got excited and drove the bike like Dirt bikes. Suddenly another obstacle Bridge got damaged people said not able to cross we need to go back and use the highway I got frustrated completely. while we are standing over there, A guy said we can go under the bridge but many chance we may fall down again I got excited lets see what P220 and myself can do. We took that risk and we crossed the bridge and reached home around 8pm, Wow I felt relieved.


We once again did thumbs up and we are so happy about it, My bro took the final picture both of us look tired and exhausted in that picture, checked the odo it was 1016km we covered without any issues and I kissed my ride for the safe journey.

The things which I learnt we need to use the gadgets properly or else its useless carrying them around and we end up nowhere, use helmet all the time and also need to get plain glass for night riding,always top up the petrol when necessary should not take chances.


Once again I thank my mom she agreed to go for long trip and I thank my buddy vishwa who accompanied with me and also for sriram without him the trip wont be fulfilled and big thanks to my jaan, my ride. While I Giving pose for the pick I was smiling inside my heart and thinking next tour gonna be Coimbatore-ooty-kerela HERE WE GO AGAIN..!!

Nice log and pics. Things like missing the turn does happen. Its fun to realize at one point of time of riding in wrong road and it's part of learning. On the serious note, even though you have some idea, it is better to talk/discuss with seniors or experienced. They would have given some pointers and directions. But I know of sure in future you'll never ever forget what you missed.

Good first ride there! I still remember my first ride back in 2005, Chennai- Mahabalipuram. I planned for almost a month for the 60 odd kms :P Looks funny now but that was a memorable one
