Guys,
Reached home via NH8 this Diwali. Route followed Day 1 Ahmedabad Day 2 Jaipur Day 3 Delhi Planning to take NH3 to return, but no idea about the practical conditions of the route. PFB the tentative route New Delhi, Delhi to Pune, Maharashtra - Google Maps Tentative Day 1 Reach Gwalior Day 2 Reach Indore <uncertain about this patch as have inputs on it being two lane > Day 3 Pune via ahmednagar instead of nashik Looking for present conditions of road and other pointers which could be of help. All riders <four> have relevant long ride experience, and follow safety norms. Ride on, Akshat |

Thanks Noor.
C'mon guys, have to leave New Delhi on 31st. If it doesn't work out, would have to take NH 8 reverse also. From what inputs i have, Gwalior to Indore is not so happening two lane road but some say there was some construction work going on for a four lane. Looking for MP Xbhpians to step in, or people who have done delhi-mumbai via this route. Akshat |

Two months ago, I was told to stay away from MP roads as they've bad roads. From what I understood was Indore/Kanpur & above roads aren't that good. If you want to try some adventure, then take this road. Someone who might've taken this road recently can suggest latest conditions.

Hi Akshat,
The Delhi to Pune NH3 route is pretty ok; I did it in 2008 in my older Indigo with my wife and kids. My itinerary had been viz: Day 1 - Delhi to Gwalior Day 2 - Gwalior to Nasik. Day 3 - Nasik to Pune. The NH went thru' built-up areas at Gwalior, Indore and Mhow. Things would have improved over the past 3 years, even in India ![]() Overall, a good route. If I was able to do it in my Indigo with family, it would be no hassles for you alone on a bike. Just be sure to start early by say 0500h; the legs between two halts are long and you would be at the day's destination by about 7PM or so. Again, this is info of circa 2008. Drive carefully. |

oCT 2010 road to Bhopal is not in good condition, hassles of crossing Bhopal city, and some not-so-good roads between Biaora and Gwalior. Assuming you leave from Nagpur, I would consider halts at Guna, Shivpuri and Gwalior, all of which have decent hotels. Facilities are very poor on these routes and food is mostly in dhaabas only and check this thread out.. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-travel-queries/101409-pune-banswara-jaipur-delhi-jallandar-narkanda-back.html 2011 updates.. and here is Nov, 2010 http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...ml#post2136429 Indore to Pune.. complete report.. checkout if you have some time.. I will also check, once i get some more time ![]() BOL.. |

Agra to Indore is a hopeless two laner with very heavy traffic. Avoid. After Indore its mostly four lane good road. Since this is just after the monsoons you can be rest assured that this would not have been repaired as yet. And once you cross into Madhya Pradesh the road conditions deteriorate further.

Thanks for the response everyone.
Nitin - We don't seem to have much positive vibe about NH3. ![]() and as far as how to reach Indore is considered, i'd rather stick to our trusted NH8 rather than taking the Jaipur - Indore stretch. <who would want to leave the Udaipur - Ahmedabad route if we are working towards home from Jaipur end >Let us see if we can have a latest check report on Gwalior - Indore route. ![]() else i think NH8 calling again. If you do decide on NH8 then you can try a slightly different route:
Delhi - NH8 - Jaipur - NH8 - Kishangarh - NH79A - Nasirabad - NH79 - Chittorgarh - NH76 - Udaipur - NH8 - Shamlaji - SH5 - Modasa - SH5 - Godhra - SH87 - Halol - Vadodara - NH8 - Ghodbunder Road...and from here any route and you are in Pune :P |
