Default drunken monk planning a ride

ladies and country men, let me introduce my self first.
Name samridh sharma
Occupation. mechanical engineer (powerplant)
Age 29,
Marital status married ,
Location Adelaide (south Australia)
bikes held in past are yamaha Rxz and karizma R.
consider my self as a tourer in a laid back style.done some trips in past when i was in India to bharmaur, chitkul, manali, dhramshalla, dalhousie etc.
now coming to the point why i opened this thread .As above mentioned i am in Australia right now and planning a ride to ladhak next year in aug-sept- October
and has finalized three bikes cbr250, Thunderbird and dont know third one....
require suggestions regarding choice of months for the ladhak ride and bike selection.i dont know weather i will be keeping the bike after this ride or not (not decided yet).Regarding thundebird how much running in should be done before going for a ide like this.i know much about bikes but royal enfield is something new for me.

A question for vishwas (trustvishwas) how did your friend's Thunderbird performed on your ladhak ride?

^^ You can always rent a bike there (manali-leh) and do not, necessarily, have to buy one!

Don't get frustrated so quickly. Your caption is somehow not attracting. More so repealing because of "Drunken" word
Now, there are numerous members in this forum who has done Leh-Ladakh. Try reading few of them from the tourer section. Vaibhav (kurtrules) has done Leh-Ladakh on CBR recently 33 hours non-stop. He has done on CBZ (newer model). Praful Tripathy & Bangy guys have done on P220 Fi. There are numerous others too.
I would suggest CBR simply because it has got best of all. It has got Fi & it has got loads of tourque. These two crucial features combined with tubeless tyres make it my choice.
I haven't done yet but I have read many logs. So, if you are willing to do it, just buy any bike but my vote goes to CBR 250. Though, lately I have heard nasty comments about the service centres not at all living upto the Honda expecations.
You may also consider P220, a value for money product.

Yes, in my personal opinion, CBR should perform outstandingly well on those altitudes. You may face little air gasping problem with the karizma, but that is not a major hurdle as such. With a minor tweak to the carb though, you will be flying on it in the himalayas Just ensure that the bike what you are choosing, is most comfortable for you. On which you can sit & ride all day long. Even thunderbird should perform well in the mountain, as it is the much preferred bike with many groups out there. Not sure its maneuvering capability in those terrains with respect to other bikes.
On karizma you can ride with extreme comfort & carry good amount of luggage too.
My vote goes for a karizma (personally tried & tested twice) or a cbr250
The best time to be there IMO will be first week of June, to experience good amount of snow, chillness & lesser water crossings.

Yes, in september, the passes should remain open very well. But still check it before heading there. Snow & chillness will be very less. Be ready to face & cross loads of water crossings though. Weather wise it will be pleasant.

I saw this kind of water crossing pic in a friends profile who did in Sept:
