I was planning a solo trips for weeks, the last trip was , Daman, that too in mid of august. Which Is long time …
My bike was in perfect condition ie .. I had a small accident on a trip to daman which cost me around 9 k ( 4.5 k paid by insurance )… so after 3 months I was back with all my dues sorted :P It was 12th Jan 2012, Thursday … I woke up at 6:30 AM… some spiritual stuff to be done at home. All set to leave my house at 8:00 am … Bike :- Karizma R 2011 (White Angel) Gears:- TourMaster Jacket Reebok gloves (just cover my palm … actually it’s not a riders gloves … normally used for GYM) Wood land shoes with anklets !!! Destination :- Saputara, Gujarat Directions as bellow: ![]() I started my jorney at 8:00 am from my house Kanjumrag, Mumbai. I reached the NH3 highway n from then my journey to nashik started … it was cold when I hit the NH3 , the jacket did its job but my gloves … no use of it … as my fingers are open, only palm is covered. I halted after exact 100 km for natures call n something to eat … I had my snikers choc and few sip of water. I halted just before the ghat section. I recommenced my journey after 15 mins of halt and started climbing. I never rode on NH3 so its kinda good experience. The ghat section of kasara/igatpuri was good , nice twist and turns , I was doing around 50 – 60 kmph while doing turns … and man what a road no potholes , just plane road. I cleared the ghat section in less than 30 minutes and reached plan section, was cruising around 100 kmph on Karizma R.. it was quiet amazing .. no traffic , few truck drivers and regular office going people. I reached nashik and then I have to take out my GPS (using iPhone 4 as my GPS ) and look for roads as I have to take few left and right turn to get on track but unfortunately I missed the turn and land up going 5 km away from the actual path. I quickly came back on track with the help of Police guy which are very helpful.Actually I was going in wrong direction which grab attention to all the people over there and then police guy came to me … asked me “ kidhar ??? “ I realised that I broke the rule … I said politely “ rasta bhatak gaya hu isliye piche aya logo se puchne ke liye … he said looking at my number plate “ Mumbai se aya hai kya “ I said “ ha , n mujhe saputara jane hai, batao kaise jao mai “ he showed me the way for the direction of saputara, and then I realised I should use my GPS ( short term memory loss :P ) luckily I was back on track … On the way to saputara the scene was amazing nice road ride , I actually was riding at 50 kmph as the scenario was awesome , its hard to keep my eyes on road rather then the mouthains and the greenery… I passed my many grapes farm. Few pics taken on the way to saputara I reached saputara at 12:30 pm .. It took me around 4hr.30 mins to cover 260 km .. ( not bad for a beginner ) After reaching the destination I started looking for a good restaurant to fill up my empty stomach. And finally found a good restaurant SHILPI Hill Resort. The food was good and the service was also good and the best part is the TEA. Just amazing, it actually refreshes me … After my lunch , I enquired from locals as what to see in saputara, everyone said “ ek museum hai n lake hai “ I wasn’t interested in museum so I sit around the lake and relax my self by calling my friends , teasing them saying “ mai to ghum raha hu … tum log office me rahakar kaam karo :P “ The weather was, as read from review , quiet cold. I was sitting in a shade and feeling bit cold, u won’t sweat a little bit even if u standing in sun during afternoon. Damn it, 2:00 pm .. I have planned to get back on road by 2:00pm as I have to head back to my house. But this time I choose to go by NH8 instead of NH3. Few pics when I was riding down the hill from saputara to vapi. Again I was riding in ghat section and somehow I feel that the ghat rection in saputara was better than kasara/igatpuri ghat … over here I got a lot of twist n turns with U turns n zig-zag road with a proper marking on the roads … The road condition was perfect, complete black I was riding at a speed for 60-70 kmph and during curves I get to hear my tyres voice (similar to truck tyre running on highway with full speed). The ride from saputara to Vapi was around 146 km long and it took me 2 hr. 15 mins, without any break ( only 15 sec halt to check out the map on GPS) , to complete. Reached Vapi around 4:40 pm , had some snacks and then get back to my fav. Road NH8 , it was 5:00 pm which I have planned … But after 45 min ride my back was paining badly I can’t withstand that pain , have to halt at some daba. Had a cup of tea and few sip of water, but still no relief my back was still paining . Then I removed my riding jacket which actually weighs around 5 kg + and I was carrying my bag on my shoulder, aah what a relief done some stretching , took rest for about 25 mins. It was 6:20 pm and sun is getting out of my sight… and I have to cover about 110 km to reach to my home. Started my journey with a pace, 110 kmph +. After covering about 60 km traffic area start with a long queue truck drivers . Have to make way from left most side , then I realise Bombay is getting closer now :P. The last 50 km was tiring, traffic n traffic… but finally reached home at 8:20 pm. BUT THE END LINE IS I HAVE COVERED 550 KM IN A DAY, WHICH IS ACHIEVEMENT FOR ME!! ![]() ![]()
