Ride to Saputara – “It’s tImE tO bUrN rUbBeR, NoT sOuL”

21 Jan'12 - 22 Jan'12

Riders -
Aryan – Yamaha Fazer
Avinash – Pulsar 220(FI)
Kartik – Unicorn
Parnav – Pulsar 220

The idea of visiting saputara started off with a simple sms chat on phone between Hasan & me. Actually we are planning to ride to Mount Abu but due to various reasons we cancelled Mount Abu ride.
But this weekend we want to ride somewhere like any hill station so I started searching on net with friends and finally I got name of Saputara from Xbhp forum The tourer. After getting name of place I started looking more about it from internet, friends.
Saputara comes in Dang district of Gujarat which Coordinates 20°40′N 73°21′E/ 20.67°N 73.35°E in India. Population of Saputara is around 6200 and situated in 3,151 /km2 (8,161 /sq mi) and its elevation is 1000 meter (3300 ft).
I decided to put in on Face book due to some reason I can’t put on Xbhp Mumbai thread about this trip. Apart from me & Hasan who were confirmed riders coming for this trip found three more Avinash, kartik and parnav were ready to come this all exciting trip. Few people did try to come but could not make it and due to some reason Hassan also not able to join us so now we were down to 4 riders finally making it for this ride viz., Aryan, Avinash, Kartik & Pranav.
Well after working out on everything of ride there still we are facing some problem that I & Kartik both of us are having office on Saturday and Avinash having lunch program with some friends. So again me, kartik n Avinash get started talking n trying to finalized the plan and at last made decision that we always ride in day time so let’s do this ride in night times so finally we fixed plan n started our trip on Saturday evening at 0500 Pm and made it touring and stunting ride.

Day 1

From Mumbai there are 2 ways of reaching to Saputara -
1) Either you can go via NH3 & MSH17 & MSH23 & SH20 & SH174 and return (590 Km) [OR]
2) Go via NH8 - SH13 - SH23 and return (720 Km trip)
* Note above Kms are counted from Colaba as the start point.

We took the 1st option and completed.

Day 1 - 21st & 22nd Jan'12 (Touring Session)
290 Kms> Colaba to Saputara
Route - NH3 (185 km) - SH17 (40 Km) - SH23 (27 Km) - SH20 (22 Km) - SH174(33 Km).

Our main moto was only long riding & riding on weekend so we all rider rode to enjoy the ride not to reach Saputara.
As planned i started ride from Colaba and met kartik on in front of mumbai Central station main gate at 5:30 Pm we both again started ride headed towards our next meeting point finally me n kartik met pranav & Avinash at on NH3 at 6:45 Pm. After little chit chat and photograpy session we started our ride at around 7 Pm. We started our ride in light of moon so soon wether get started in little cold which going to make our ride special. Finally it was good to be back on a road trip almost after a long working day. We kept riding at around 70's to start off and tried to pass thourgh heavy traffic on junction bhiwandi naka and finally we got sucess after crossing Kalyan Junction and now we all are on open and empty road of NH3 after completing 100 Kms we took our first halt at around 8:40 Pm at Highway Famous Dhaba before kasara. It was fully dark n cold and as everytime it happens we started discussing how was the ride so far with glass of hot tea n cigrattess.

Neverthless, by chance none of us had lunch so we decide to have some missele pav after having well enough to keep out.

Get Together of riders on last meeting Point:-

First Break at Highway Famous Hotel some where on NH3 before Kasara Ghat.

After a long halt of 45 mins again we start our machine engine and started our journey towards nasik in silent n dark night our powerfull machines making lovely roar sound of engine and started doing cornering in sharp curve of kasara ghat, it was really amazing to do cornering innight time with powerfull Hid.

Finally after ridding 1 hour we reached nasik where we taken small halt to check out the way which goes from somewhere from nasik city.

After checking route on GPS (Videcon Ducati) again we faced towards Dahndori road chowk from where we had to take right turn for SH17. It was around 190 Km of superb ridding we experienced on NH3. As soon as we left NH3 and started on SH17 the roads initially scared the hell out of us. Single lane which was full of trucks and fully dark but this situation was a burden for us so again we taken a tea halt on jakat naka of dahndori road and we decided that now we will ride in formation of two so aftre 5 mins finishing our tea we started continue on SH17 in formation of two bikes in parallel ridding in this formation was very helpful for us after ridding 40 Km we crossed dahndori, now its around near 1140 Pm our sotmach rat started jumping in our sotmach it means now we feeling very hungry now main problem come was it a difficult task finding a good hotel or some hotel for dinner on SH17, leave to good hotel will we find a hotel for dinner on SH17 in this dark n silent road yes was but after ridding few km and after crossing Vani well from Vani we taken left towards SH23 and finally after travelling 4 KM from Vani we found one roadside hotel which was open and some people sitting and having there food there seeing this a good smile came on everybody face and after shifting one gear down everybody rush towards hotel with heavy roar sound of bike seeing and listening such heavy noise of bike everybody dtarted looking towards our face and when we entered inside hotel after parking bike everybody sitted there inculding owner of hotel said to all of us..... " Saaheb, tumchi sarvanchi entry awadlli aaplyala... Ekdum Dhoom style." halt for dinner its almost 0020 Am of midnight till there we expericed that the roads are single lane n in better condtion. After reaching dhaba we waited long for dinner because dhabawala said that if u all want to something good to eat then u want to wait because now here this all guys are from nearby local village so we said them that everything is over, if now i will serve u then they will fight with me because they all r drunk so all of us started waiting that now this all guy will leave finally waiting time after 1 hrs and they left now the time was almost 0130 Am and all of us don't have any other choice other then wait well somebody says true that, "Sabar ka fhal meetha hota hai" finally we got dinner served on our table.

Food we ordered inculded some nice Starters, Egg curry, Roti, Fired rice and nice Omelte. As for veggies he enjoyed channa masala, Roti if i recollect correctly. Enjoyed eating quality food and whiling our time in the hotel for a good hours or so while the bikes also got a breather from the long distance covered so far. Now suddenly after covering good 230 Kms in around 6 hours. We moved very pleasant as roads were in top condition and ridding on butter smooth roads is always a bliss.
Its was almost around 0230 Am when we started on rest of distance approx 75 Km now we left Sh17 and we were ridding on SH23 passing one village after one covering good distance. its almost around 0340Am when we finally saw the board on which its written Maharasthra State limit over and on other board its written Gujarat State limit start. Wellcome to Saputara.

Now we all of started hotel for stay there full saputara was sleeping in silent so now its again problem for us to search hotel we visited one by one to all hotel but nobody opening door after half n hour search we got place in hotel vashali n at last we checked in at 0415 Am, really it was lovely ride in presence of moon light.....

@hasan Yeah i left the F1 wala helmet at a friends place and couldnt get it due to traffic on LBS marg that evening (i mean the evening of the ride), the original plan was to pick it up on my way to meet these guys, So just continued with the old vega boolean!
