Default Christmas Day Ride to Diveagar, Shrivardhan & Harihareshwar Beach

Date: 24.12.11 – 25.12.11

Riders:
Me – Yamaha R15 (Phoenix)
Mitesh – Yamaha FZ (Spartan)
Karan – Pillion
Anand - Yamaha SZR

Route:

I was on an audit in Revdanda (alibag). 24th & 25th were holidays for me but since I was outstation (for my office), I was supposed to work, even then I had plan to take one day off for a ride. There was one issue- I had to meet a friend (it was gonna be the last time ever). On 23rd Friday night, I realised that next weekend would be “new year” weekend and didn’t want to drag my last meet to the “new year” and spoil a fresh year so I called Mitesh and told him – “see I can take one off during weekend so if she says yes to meet up, then I’ll come to Mumbai otherwise you come over to Alibag via ferry from where I’ll pick you up and we can go on a trip. Then I called her by 9:30pm and asked her if we could meet the next day. She agreed to meet at 4pm. Now I realized I had to take permission from my audit manager to return back to Mumbai. I thought – “Chuck It” and went off to sleep, woke up next day morning at 5:30 am, geared up, switched on Phoenix’s ignition and zoomed off for Mumbai by 6am. At 8am, took a halt and messaged my audit manager – “due to some serious problem I have to return back home, will return back to plant by evening and will call you then”. This way I didn’t give him a chance to deny permission. Reached home by 9:45am without clicking even a single pic on the way. Met her in the evening and after it ended I called up Mitesh and told him about it. He said, “I’m at Marine Drive and Karan is also here so come over” I reached MD, met them and Mitesh told me about overnight trip plan. I told him that I wouldn’t be able to make it as I had to return back to revdanda. He said, “dekh le, we people to are going, in fact Karan has already told his parents, he won’t be coming home and Anand will also leave from Vasai in some time. I called up my Audit Manager and he told me to go back to office as 2 off’s were not acceptable. I told Mitesh and hence we made a plan of going to Diveagar, Shrivardhan & harihareshwar beach as I could be with them for the night drive and return to revdanda plant by late morning. So went home, had dinner, packed up, geared up and left for the trip.

We reached kalamboli in no time and waited for Anand to join us. Some phototime.

Karan

In 15 minutes, Anand joined us and we left. It was quite chilling and as the clock ticked by, temperature started falling - the drop in temperature was quite noticeable. Around1:30am, just after Panvel, we took our customary halt at a hotel to have tea and omlette.

Yammie's Day Out or rather Night Out

We kept taking halts at regular intervals. Don’t remember the place exactly, but we took a halt around 4 am somewhere and whilst talking, our conversation drifted to ghosts on roads at night. We were quite eager to have an encounter with such beings first hand. Just then, Anand noticed a white sari-clad figure crossing the road at some distance from us. She crossed the road and went into the bushes. We went totally silent and tried to scare each other after some time. Then, we kept a strong eye towards our side of the bushes but in some time, some more villagers went from there and we realised that she may have been a villager only. Darn.. More time to wait for our actual encounter with ghosts. By then, cold had increased tremendously and we did a lot of tp at that place.

Trying to soak in some warmth

Mitesh was very hungry and impatient too..

Due to excessive cold, our halts kept getting shorter and shorter. Then around 5:30-6am, we halted at a dhaba to have some tea. The warmth of tea did give us some respite. It was the first time in our life that “white smoke” was coming out of our mouths due to cold. We successfully captured those moments in our camera.

Some pics at the dhaba..

Anti-freezing measures-

That's Anand

Cheers guys...

As dawn broke, we halted at a river-side crossing somewhere near Indapur. It was the best moment of our trip. Fog had filled that place completely. The foggy reflection of trees in the river was indescribable. We had one hell of a time out there. Clicking pics, savouring the moments as well as the place.

Some foggy pics -

First pic of dawn

Scaaarecrow for Sale!!

Break of Dawn-

For the love of road - - (...literally)

Finally whole group together...

After spending considerable time submerging ourselves into the tranquility of that unknown place, we moved ahead.

Some random pics on the way-

Finally around 10 am, we reached Diveagar beach – our first destination. It is a lovely beach. The place was darn peaceful with very little crowd. Saw a nice shadowed place and we went off to sleep.

Some pics of the beach-

Mitesh asked me whether I was gonna carry on or return back. By that time I had already decided to once again “chuck it”- chuck audit manager’s direction. So told Mitesh that I’m gonna carry on with the trip. Mitesh and Anand brought lots of Poha for breakfast. Then as we were roaming on the beach, two pandu’s approached us and asked us (in Marathi) from where we were. We told them we were from Mumbai and then he asked us whether we knew English. Mitesh told yes so they asked him to come with them. It turned out that a foreigner couple was sunbathing at the beach. The lady was in a top and shorts so these pandus wanted Mitesh to tell her to cover herself. Mitesh asked her quite respectfully and politely and the lady - apologetically did the needful. Then we left for Shrivardhan Beach. The road was a royal treat. Butter smooth road along the coastal stretch. We just couldn’t capture it completely. Truly a delight to ride on that road.

These pics are the best part to ride with Mitesh... Always ready to stop for a photo-break.. Never do I feel hesitant to stop or make him stop even if there's a photo-halt every 5 minutes...

Around 1:30pm we reached the beach. By then climate had turned completely upside down. It had got darn hot. We went near the trees and rested in the shadows. It was amazingly peaceful.

Around 3:30-4pm we left for Harihareshwar beach. We reached Harihareshwar beach by 4:30-5pm..

Nothing much to do at the beach so had the kokam and lemon sharbat and left from there as Karan wanted to reach home early and also since Anand is a new driver, we didn’t want him to drive in the night.

We reached Kolad where we halted for snacks and then we separated from there. I took a left for revdanda while the other guys carried on towards Mumbai. I reached the guest house by 9 pm, had dinner, messaged my audit manager – “I got another serious problem so had to stay back home and hence reached the plant now” and went off to sleep. Didn’t stay awake even for his reply.

My Trip Meter-

I was reluctant to go on this trip initially as I thought it was not good to drive in the state that I was and I thought I wouldn’t have been able to drive properly but Mitesh had encouraged me saying – “dude you gotta drive at such times only, bike is there”, so I carried on. It was such a nice trip that I’d completely forgotten about Saturday… Truly said by Sunilg – “Motorcycling heals”….

Nice write up bro.. Short & sweet.. & yet again amazing set of pics clickd, chosen & uploaded by yourself..
You have no idea how desperately i wish you had a DSLR in your hand dude.. Nevertheless, make most of what we have as of now & keep the DSLR's for the trip of our life in a few months.
.
Looking forward for another one like this soon..
