Planning for the past ONE YEAR J (from 11th Aug 2011)

A year before I had a rough idea with full confidence like I CAN DO the complete Tamilnadu state road trip with my Discover 125 cc . Then I realized after reading a lot of Travel logs in xBhp that I have to do some preplan and importance of safe biking thus made me to start over this thread after a year with a plan & purpose. If you see that map in the above link I have just used MS Paint to draw the road line in Tamilnadu map what a funny of myself . 'I proudly say TIME is the precious and vital source that we all have and with that we can do anything in this world and I believe that it is used wisely by everyone.' I showed up in xBhp on 7th April 2011. Though I am raiding for the past 6 years now, I have learned basic concepts of safe biking, protective gears, riding norms & sense, started respecting fellow riders in the society and group riding skills after joining xBhp.com.

So, to start this ride, I brought protective gears one by one then finally chose my beast and it is not any other than YAMAHA R15 v2. Here I must thank xBhp Chennai Offline G2G members who have been directly and indirectly molded my riding skills. Done many short rides, little circuit rides fewer touring rides with Chennai Offline G2G bikers and fellow biking friends. Got some little understanding about touring and started the planning accordingly.

Excellent idea!!! Intensive touring (30+ districts), as opposed to exhaustive touring (eg Chennai - Kolkata). You will be a 'walking wikipaedia' about TN for us all....

Have you seen the movie 'Ramana' starring Vijayakanth? You can start reciting all the facts and figures of TN roads down to 4 decimal places.... he he - just kidding!

Beware of almost everything out in the highway and dont underestimate an Piagio ape which will be doing some 30s the corner of the road but can make sudden lane changes and prove more dangerous than a Truck.

Yamaha R15 v2 got geared UP

Going for a ride is also a way of maintaining a bike with good condition
I myself have changed the engine oil, oil filter, air filter, chain lube and changed the left mirror (It was broken).

I know each one you will do all this service activity. I just want to share that everyone will feel the soul of your bike if you do the complete service for it. Trust me.

Now, Since you are doing it under a bigger banner - Try to document all information that you come across, be it pictures, road conditions, some interesting info about a place (or some tips / suggestions given by locals), etc.

Carry a Netbook / Mini Laptop for backing up pictures, and enjoy the ride to the maximum. Good Luck once again.

Good luck buddy, your triumph has reminded me about my bicycle expedition (an NCC event) way back in '97. It was around tamil nadu we covered 900km in 10 days. I bet you will love it.

Keep your gear well prepared, especially keep a good medical kit. Wishing you a great tour and enlighten us with your experience when you are back.

Joeantony : 900 km in Bicycle . Thats awesome. Mentally I am strong but when it comes to physical strength Yes of course we need more care on it. As you said Medical kit is a part of it.
