[Photo Feature]: Texas to San Francisco - 4500 Miles 14 day ride of a lifetime
My longest ride till date, I could say toughest too. Covering deserts , mountain and ocean roads in sub zero temperature, rain , wind, snow, sun all with my better half.

Thread ApprovedAdvice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Here we go. First official vacation of the year , had four weeks in hand. So decided to take 2 and a half in Nov and rest in dec. So this story is about the First half
Wrong time of the year to ride here, fall is almost ending and winter is ready to get started. With southern side of of us kind of in 12 to 22 degree is most of the regions during the day and anything above that is close to zero or sub zero temp. Only to options where Florida or California. I had been to both the places but on a car - both prety much 1000 + miles from Dallas, Texas.
California had more to offer and I had some unfinished business from the last trip. So locked on the direction to head.
Now riding gears and other logistics where ready. Short rides to see how the bike behaved also kind of done , which you might have seen my prev thread (if not here).
Day 1:
Plan was to start on a high note and over 600+ miles and reach White San Monumentum in New Mexico. Having done that before I thought it was possible, total underestimation !!! Sun sets around 4:45 and post that temperature dips so did not want to ride more. So had to stop half way. Covered only 416 miles.
All the way it was straight highways. Speed limit is 70 miles in texas for this route and as soon as you enter jumps to 75. And you can always do + 10 like till 85.
The moment you him hit 86 you are inviting trouble and a big hole in the pocket. Enough of story , some pics.
Within 50 mile we were welcomed with rain - but good that it lasted only in town which we were passing.

Thats a usual scene in highways here

In most of the state and interstate Highways there are proper rest areas with restrooms here. And in texas all rest areas have free wifi and vending machines (not free). And somebodey is making real use of it

Day 2 close to 200 miles to White Sands: here we go
First hundred miles where prety much dry and straight as we entered to desert region in New Mexico
Every one takes this

This started getting better as we entered here and the last 50 miles was twisty roads thru the forest

First view of the White Sand. This are not clear from this far - but whats gonna come is mind blowing stuff

Another short break

lets talk business

Storm taking a Pee Break

How can I not ?

Now that why we travel rt ? for the FB profile pics

Getting dark

Sun goes down !

Thats all for today - Enjoy Madi !!
