This is about the early morning madness

Coimbatore - Ooty - Kothagiri - Coimbatore (205 Km ) Solo ride

Wanted to go to Ooty since last October and could not do so because of various reasons . One fine morning (June - 2008 ) i happened to wake up early around 3:00 am and could not get sleep after that .Was just cuddling in my bed thinking what to do . Thats when the devil in me rose up and i decided to go for a early morning ride . Totall madness - no planning - no clue of any destination .I took a bath and finished all my nature call duties . It was around 4:15 am .

My parents where well asleep and did not feel like disturbing them . I opened the side door and opened the gate . Pushed my TVS Fiero out for some distance .Came back closed the Gate from inside . Locked the side door from outside and jumped the wall . It should have been around 4:40 am by then i guess . Had 3 liters of petrol filled the previous day night .So no fear . Started riding , have heard that the Mattupalayam road has good greenery . so thought that would go till Mettupalayam and come back .It was pitch dark as no street lights where on . Felt good as slight breeze was upon me .The early morning charm .

Reached Mettupalayam around 5:20 am i guess .Don't remember the time exactly .I was not feeling tired at all , decided to push further .I was unaware that i am entering the jungle roads . The road started to wind up and i enjoyed the view and the hairpin bends . It was getting really cold and my hands where getting stiff . Nice feeling cant explain . The sun started to open up on me through the tiny gaps in between the trees .( One should experience the same ) cannot be put in words .

I reached Coonoor around 6:15 am (about 80 odd Km from Coimbatore ).Thats when i realized that i have come so far without my parents knowledge . I called up home and mom was already awake( First they thought that some one stole my bike , they checked for me & i was not there either . Ha ha should i tell what happened next on the phone ..Blah blah as usual . I was asked to ride carefully at the end ) he he . More energy less fear and no tension .

I rode further to Ooty , reached around 6:50 am . Went to the Ooty lake .Thanks to people in the Ooty market they showed me the way as i was a no wizz to Ooty. Enjoyed the lake view for some time .Was hungry .Rode back to the market road . Had some Rava masal Dosa - Yummy it was .Sorry folks don't remember the Hotel name ( its been 3 months ) I asked the hotel fellow for the places that i can visit and he told me about Dodabetta ( high peak in Ooty )

Was on the way to Dodabetta , but quite unfortunate that i got diverted to a road where there was a Tea factory & a Museum .By this time i could feel the back pain slowly trying to defeat me . It was around 8:30Am . I decided to head back. One localite told me about the Kothagiry rout to Coimbatore.

I thought of coming back that way as i did not want to come the same rout .The scenery was godly ( green all the way ) it was like a carpet spread for me . I enjoyed some Misty spots too . Came back home by around 12:00Pm . Got the rest dose from my mother. Father was quite as i was back home safe . He he ( no comments ) .I happened to take some snaps on my Nokia 6600 cam(thank's to the self timer option i got some hands free picks too) , Low clarity though .Hope you all enjoy the picks . Sorry to bug you with such a big write up

nice you posted again. .but but...in early morning time on ootty route ,any wild animals etc?(Olephants? ) .
and since you are from coimbatore ,had you visited saadivayal Kovai Kuttalam ?(near karunya college? -I studied 97-01 there only my BE).

If i am not wrong you are from Kerala right . I remember going through your post about the Kovai Kuttralam .No i am yet to visit . Not that i have my new Honda Unicorn , will certainly do a week end trip .
