Destination: Mahabaleshwar (Venn lake) - Panchgani (Thapa point & Mapro Gardens) Number of riders: 13 Names (Riders): Gaurav - R15 Samir - RTR Dhaval - RTR Amol - Pulsar 150 Rakesh - Karizma Angelo - Discover Ameya - R15 Ashish - RTR Nitin - RTR CJ - Pulsar 180 Kunal - FZ16 Sagar - R15 and myself OM - Karizma To and fro distance done: Around 500kms Route: Mumbai - Wadkal - Mahad - Poladpur - Mahabaleshwar - Panchgani - Wai - Khambatki - Pune - Lonavale - Mumbai. Though the distance is long well not that long but the trip will be a short one. Plan was to start from Vashi by 7.30am in the morning. But as usual I got up late and left by 8.20am. But funny I got up with everyone before Panvel. That was fast………naaaaaaaaa I then came to know that Kunal’s FZ16 has clocked just around 300-400 kms so he had kept slow. For breakfast our halt was wadkal. This time it was an ok breakfast. I didn’t liked it that much. Anyways we started riding on NH-17 and for this ride we had decided that we will now take halt directly in Poladpur. Just to save time that was the idea. And its easily done. From Poladpur Rakesh and Amol wanted to go up and down the kashedi ghat first. So by the time we were having tea they went on that route. After 35 mins they arrived down and then we continued on the mahabaleshwar ghat. In less than 40mins we had covered 35kms. We took a halt in shade and realized that 3-4 rides are missing. We waited for them and till then took some shots around. Now it was getting late and we were getting worried. So Gaurav and Amol left down the ghat to find them. Luckily they came back up in 20mins and told us that those guys had taken a wrong turn on the ghat. Now that we were all together, it was non-stop to Venn lake. We did boating at that place. It was fun. I tried rowing for the first time. Its a good exercise too. In another 40-45mins we were in Mapro. And boy we were hungry. Mapro sandwiches are a delight. We quickly ordered and there was a little long que for it. After some chat and snacks, it was now time to head to thapa point. Thapa point is not far from here. Just at around 7kms. We spent around 30-40mins at that place. It was relatively cool up there. By late evening we started descending the ghats. And from here it was non stop to Pune. After riding for around 100kms we took halt near Kothrud diversion on the Dehu road Pune. We were scheduled to meet some Pune folks at that point. After that we headed to the end of dehu road where we now a days take tea breaks. It was 7pm now. Already it was dark and as we started towards lonavale it started raining. Not very light but some good showers. Road was getting slippery so we slowed down. I was getting late so I started increasing my speed to reach Mumbai by 9.30pm Rest took a halt in Lonavale and I headed straight for Mumabi. By the time I reached home it was 9.30pm One more accident free ride done by MBC. Cheers, OM VAIKUL PHOTOGRAPHS - Go through. PHOTOS of THE TriP: Picasa Web Albums - Om - Bike trip to ...
