Hi all,
I have leaves on 7th(Tue) and 10th(Fri) April. So was thinking of utilizing the time to make a ride into cooler climate. Just did a shimla-kufri-chael last week, so any other ideas are welcome. Depending on the distance I could take leaves in between and have 4-5 days at my disposal. Also, anybody who wants to accompany is most welcome.

Looks like you have 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th on you.. which makes it 6 days..
There are lots of places you can cover if you are going for 6 days.. Since rohtang and a lot of other high altitude passes would be closed around this time, you can not do many of the more popular circuits.. Depending on how long you want your trip to be, you can consider visiting one or more of these places: A. In himachal depending on your time frames, you can do two or more of these places.. . Dharamshala - Can take one long day of hard riding or 2 days . Manali - Slightly further away than dharamshala, but can be easily done in 2 days . Narkanda/Hatu peak - Can be done in one day if you have a small group and if you do not waste much time.. . Dalhousie, Khajjiar and other places in chamba B. In uttarakhand: Kumaon region - there are many places to go to.. And typically the distances are not very much if you start from delhi.. Some of the places to consider in Kumaon would be Nainital, Ranikhet, Binsar, Sitlakhet, Mukteshwar, Bageshwar, Munsiyari, Pittoragharh, Abott mount.. Garwhal regions - I have not travelled much in this region, so I can not say where all to go to, but again there are many places in garwhal - Mostly you head to places via rishikesh.. You can visit the religious places like uttarkashi, badrinath, hemkund sahib, kedarnath, gangotri.. Another section of garhwal would be areas around mussorie and chakrata.. -- no1lives4ever |

Hey!!
I guess tube tyres would be better if u are planning for Himachal. I think U will not be able to get your tubeless tyre punctures rectified at most places in himachal. I am from palampur. (very close to Dharamshala, 32 kms). Keep a jacket if u intend to ride at night. Otherwise at present weather there is perfect. Its a nice place full of foreigners. You need route details just let me know??

Dude you can go to Deoria tal and Chopta in the uttarkashi districtt of garhwal in Uttarakhand. And trust me you won't regret it a bit. In fact, you will be just mesmerized with what nature has to offer you. I have been there twice in 2006 and 2007 and was just spellbounded with the beauty of the place. Icicing on the cake is that it's not at all crowded and you will easily find affordable AND GOOD accomodation in GMVN rest house. If a you need any help you can call me on 9899920493.
Just carry a sweatshirt and a rain gear along as you never know of weather in the hills. Also, First aid kit is a must. Sadly, i had the option of 3rd, 4th and 5th April weekend or the 10, 11 and 12th weekend off and i opted for the 3rd one as am dying to get away from the hectic schedule at work. Thnx so much for the ideas guys ... but alas, i joined coaching classes for the ever elusive 'BiLLi'
.. so will have to find some offs during the weekdays where i can combine leaves to make a trip. Still let me think it through i still may be able to grab a 2.5 day trip.Have a extra off I can use on 9th, n with 10th as a holiday, can come back by Sat evening for the class. Wats the best use for this slot of time?? P.S. Thinking of going in for tubeless tires asap, so will just need a pump to get me going. At least this is how much i know of the tech. That even if i cant get it fixed, I can manage by pumping in some air until I get a mech. How much is my knowledge(shouldnt really use that word ) correct.??2. where can i get a good foot pump 3. Anything else i mite be requiring for the trip?(I will be fine I know, so no medicines required, just to keep the bike ok).
