Default A Ride with The Fireblade..!

The fireblade had a date with the finest ones of India. Here is the story.

Bikes:
O9 Honda CBR1000RR aka The Fireblade
Yamaha yzf-R15
Bajaj 220 DTS-Fi
HH Karizma
Riders:
Fireblah
Svjhonda
Ani
Jonak
Kms: around 300kms
Triplogs:
I was all exited about the ride. Had only 2 hours of sleep the night before. Me and Svjhonda were supposed to meet up in prince
anwarshah road around 6 am. Svjhonda calls me at 5.45 am and tells me he has already reached the place. I quickly packed up all the
stuff( i was carrying tubeless tyre puncture kit, starter relay, spare clutch cable etc ) and reached the place within 6 and we headed to
baguiati haldirams. It took us about 20 mins. Found Jonak da waiting there. Anurag came in his Aveo 10 minitues later. Usual chit-chat
was going on when we spotted the machine coming towards us. Fireblah came and parked his fireblade. I was awestruck. I was not talking
to anybody then, just enjoyed the beauty of the machine. Then we decided to head towards Shaktigar, a place famous for "lagcha"s, a
bengali form of gulabjamun.

CBR 1000RR !!
We started riding within a few minutes. Jonak da was leading and i was trailing the group as i usually do. Did so for the whole ride.
Found it really dificult to ride for the first 4-5kms as i was constantly looking at the Fireblade in front of me.:P I had to force my eyes
to not look at the massive rear end and the beautiful tail-lights.One tata sumo almost hit me as he was trying to get another view of the
inline four. Number of curious passion uncles and macho-pulsar boys who were constantly overtaking me for the same reason was countless.
Soon we found ourselves on the NH2 leading towards burdwan. We were doing a healthy 85-90kmph. The aveo was following us. That was
the safety car. :d After some 30kms, we stopped for a little butt-break. Clicked some pics and started riding again.

bikes in the highway.

The fireblade !

the massive rear end !!

Sideways..silver-black-golden..

NH2 is a very good 4 lane highway which has some arrow-straights for 1-2 kms and the road has proper fencing. So this time we were
doing around 90-95kmph. Everyone was riding in very well behaved manner, though this was the first time we were riding together.
Specially fireblah. He is a very responsible rider. after 40 more kays, we stopped in Gurap for breakfast. We all had Parathas, panir
butter masala, Alu ka dum and cold-drinks. After the hearty breakfast me and jonak da were trying to find a good destination other than
shaktigar and it was then when it was decided to we shoud go near the banks of damodar river. But Anurag had some work and he had to
return after the breakfast.

Anyone's dream.

Bangla-r Fireblade !
Me and Jonak da exchanged bikes and started riding again. We were doing 100-110kmph for the next 20kms. The smoothness of ZMA at
those speeds was a welcome change for me. I also found ZMA to be more flickable and counter-steering was effortless. Jonak da, on the
other hand, got scared of the fantastic HVMs( Hand view mirrors :d ) of the 220. He was not used to them.
Then came one of those long and clean straights and jonak da told Fireblah to go for it. The scream of the fireblade was something.
fireblah did 240kmph. Then we asked locals for the right direction and took a left trun from the highway towards Damodar. It was some
10kms from highway. The roads initially were good, but trucks were being loaded with sand and that made the road muddy. Fireblah had
to ride through slush for a number of times. That was the -ve point. We reached the the banks of the river and rode beside it. There
was no tarmac from there on. After riding for some 8-10 minitues we found a good spot in the village called Borsul and stopped there for
rest. Clicked some pics there. Kids gathered around to see the aliens.

"huh...?"

"yoohoo..look at your face !!" playing with svj's tinted visor...
Kids were really exited about the Huge rear tyre of the fireblade. But soon one Kid shouted " The Red one is better..." And the smile on
jonak da's face was priceless!!
We asked one of the locals that if there is a place near the river where we can take our bikes. The guy took us to one such place which
was doable with the bikes. the guy even got a ride on the fireblade !!!! I was thinking " lucky dog.." but the thing changed after a few
hours when i felt i was the luckiest dog in the world ! ( more on that later though)

Going near the river with mopeds and 100cc bikes is one thing and doing so with the Fireblade is another thing. Fireblah had to ride
through a steep decline and then ride on the sand for some one odd km. Hats off to fireblah for doing so. clicked a few pics near the
river and stayed there for nearly 30 minutes. But the heat became unbearable and we had to come back to the village.

.

.

.

Jonak da in the middle of no where!!

" How can i do a titanic with my bike?!?!!? "

L-R, Fireblah, Svjhonda, Jonak and yours truely..

blade..

the prints of massiveness!!

jonak da returning..

Fireblade and Fireblah.
Then I challanged Fireblah for a Drag. Oh yes, I did so. It was tough i must admit, but guess who won the thing!! It was a
"photo"-finish with a neat half old school wheelie....

doing it, in style..

yeahh..!! the "photo"-finish..!!
Stayed there for another 10-15 minutes. But we wanted to avoid the same slush-filled road which the trucks were using. So we decided
to take a detour through sadarghat. Sadarghat was 15-18kms from there through village roads. But we discovered jonak da was missing.
I asked fireblah but his reply was negative. After 2-3 mintues we saw jonak da coming from the others side surrounded by local kids who
had "lathis" is their hands..!! I dont know where he was...and what was he doing..and trust me, i dont want to know..

what can i say??

Honda.going places.

and the huts..
Anyways, we started riding again. This was the best part for me. The beautiful village road with the river on one hand and green fields on
the other was great. Stopped for a couple of times. I also took my bike off the road and to a football field but others did not do so
because of the decline. It would have been difficult for the blade. we were doing 35-40kmph on those roads and i did 80-85kmph
for a couple of times. I love riding thorugh these kind of roads, rode to Dolma hill in jharkhand back in april and did the same there.
And 220 really shines in these kind of conditions.

Incoming !

\
His Highness!

Wonderful roads of rural bengal..
.

.

" i will take you home....."

GOATblah..

"whats that? a wing? is it edible? "

Goaly..

the X

my baby !
As we were approaching sadarghat, the roads were getting worse becase of the animals. Cows, hens and goats were everywhere!!!! I was
very close to having chiken tikka but my brakes saved the hens that were crossing the road.

Fireblah and jonak.
At this point i overtook others and stopped to click pics. Then joined them after they crossed me. Svjhonda was riding upfront, Fireblah
and jonak after him and i was trailing as usual. One particuler goat was very calm when svjhonda crossed him. But the hypnotizing hum of
the inline 4 made him nervous and he wanted to take a look at rear tyre and he did so. But he was so dumbstruck that he didnt notice
jonak da's red zma just behind it. And as jonak da decided not to have mutton on a thursday, the goat was saved. The zma's left side
was scratched and gear lever was bent.

Pre-crash.

post-crash!
The power of the bakra, you see. Brought the "karizma" down to earth. And i was witnessing all these from behind.

Anyways, we then headed towards kolkata after finding the NH2.It was me and fireblah and we were doing 100-110. Took a short break
in shaktigar.Had cold-drinks.Overheard some comments.."ema..tata sumo-r tyre lagieche! " and "jah...you wont be able to take 2 pillions
with this one" etc .And "how much did you pay for it..?" was there right from the begining. Fireblah became the local celeb within 10 minutes..
took SH13(AFAIR) the old delhi road to kolkata. We were doing 60-70kmph as zma's gear lever was bent. A single lane state highway with
a few ghat sections. Jonak da returned to kalyani and 3 of us came back to kolkata via dunlop.

.

And yes, Some things are not mentioned in the trip log, they will be mention later. Right jonak da??
@MG da,
Just as i promised. its 4.40am and im posting this now. please excuse the typos. Ill edit them later..!!

Uploaded the pics in 640x480. I dont want to make the page heavy. should i do 800x600..?

Good to see some stuff going in Kolkatta, and very nice to see the official Blade doing tours. However, Ani one small suggestion: Please do not process the pictures so much that they look over processed, the halos around objects are one of the indications, plus oversaturated colors in many.

Come over to The Global Indian Photographer - Powered by vBulletin if you want more tips.

Otherwise very nice effort.

WOW!!!!
The thread is up.
Nice to see pictures of me and my bike before the crash.
The goat was sitting under a tree at some distance. I was in the third position. Svj passed it. The goat didn't move a single inch. But as soon as the blade passed it, it suddenly jumped right before my bike.
BTW, Ani Where is pictures of svj's crash???

Nice. Nice. Good to see the official 'Blade in a Kolkata G2G. And it's real good to see such a g2g thread from Kolkata! It took an official superbike to bring out the Kolkata xBhpians together, it seems!
