Default The Mumbai-Lonavala-Mumbai ride !

No.of people :2
No.of bikes :1
Which bike :PULSAR 150

Seriousness of the trip:Leasure/Long Ride

Destination:Lonavala
Start from :Mumbai

Total Distance : 350km in all (including site seeing and time pass)

Camera Along :NO !
Reason :The pal who has the digital cam wasnt along!

Date of ride : 7th November 2003 -->SATURDAY.

The start
=========

It was just an other boring evening and I and my pal Adriel were just taking a walk along the juhu beach shore. I had just been back from work and so was very tired.Adriel just asked "wassup for tomorrow"? and I said well "nothing much..Sat-Sun Holiday". Just then i asked him...wanna go for a long ride....and thats how it all happened.

Bikes please !
==============

I and Adriel both have the same Pulsar 150cc same color and all , i told him also to remove his bike so that if at all we have any probs we have other machine for use....but he wasnt ready..being expericed before also on such rides i dint care and said "areee we will go on mine only dont worry"!

Preparation
=============

I told adriel to go home and pack a small bag of essentials.and some eatables also and so i did come home and removed my baby from the cover and did some minimal cleaning and when to the petrol pump....filled in Rs.400 of POWER petrol.....that should be more than enough for the trip...would last me quite a time.

JET SET GO
=============

I told adriel to come in the morning @ my place and he came @ 6 am on his bike...parked it in my building and we fixed up the bags and all using the cords and we set off at 6.30pm for a full day of riding.

THE RIDE
===========

well as on the road and when i get hands on my baby im quite a mad guy but on trips i do ride with utmost caution and care....( we did carry helmets too...sorry forgot to mention above)....well went smoothly till the THANE PASS...and has a brake over there for jus 3 mins and were on the way again...strangly we did encounter some serious traffic on the road ( trucks ) but managed to get past them.....being early morning the smell coming out from the grass on the green fields was excellent...as villages approached the particular smell of "brick bulding huts" began and it really felt really good.

Admiring the beaty we were going and then suddenly from NO WHERE a "BAKRI" comes on the road....which i somehow manage to avoid...and just then we decide to have a break our destination being just half the way now.

Sat down on the side of the road and eat some omlets and boiled egg and some groundnuts and also did have a small 5-7 min nap.

Up again on wheels i started the need to pulll the throttle and yes i started doing a 90-100kmphr run for say about 5-10 mins......Being a bike lover i do know how much and for how long can the engine take it.well....there we were and jus then there is a area of the "express highway" where bikes are luckily allowed....just zooooooomed offf onto that ...almost overtaking all the cars......jus then while i spotted my meter on the 95kmphr mark..i heard a deep noise.....i said "**** the engines gone " and i just began to slow down........just to find being overtaken by a BMW-Sport version car! wow she just flew...2-3 secs of view thats all i had.....

Well the time came we had to part from the express way and go downwards and thats it !! IT WAS LONAVALA !

First thing was to call home and inform that all is well did just that from the nearest STD BOOTH.

Just went into a hotel out theere had some chai and buscuits meanwhile allowed the bike to cool down a bit.

NO. of BREAKS : 2

TIME of reaching lonavala : 10.45 am

Well there we were and then just we had the full day for us...we started of attending the water resort over there...dint go in it..jus spent some time there...and then started roaming around in the wild...just to find a COP stop us....well ...usual cheak up nothing else.....showed licence and other papers and OFF we were.....

the roads of lonavala are very lovely and of curvy nature u feel like u are a motogp driver there...and oh boy ...narrow lanes and its 2 way without divider so WATCH IT !

No. of close calls:2

The main thing to watch out is for the buses over there.

Was doing 65kmphr on a curve and it was a blind curve and the bus from the other end...just managed to get through...and then a little ahead....we were just admiring the nature when a bad BUMP came along.....adriel at the back was nearly thrown off the bike.

Decided to have lunch .

TIP: ON TRIPS>...STAY LITE...EAT VEG....PREFERABLY THALIs

Had a Thali each (Rs.25each) in a restaurnat out there...and it was almost 1:30pm.......

decided to go to the BHUSHI DAM. went there ! wow ! lovely crowd there.....and if i mean LOVELY ...please understand some college group may be ! (JUS WISHED IF THERE WAS A OTHER BIKE Hehehehehe )

had a nap there almost for an hour and we decided to come out of lonavala from some other route....

meanwhile i handed over the bike to adriel to do the pleasure of riding .....

reached the market area...and OH!! we did pick up some fabulous CHIKIS.

and started our way back .......
again zoooomed on the express way......and the rest was cool...no probs while coming back....

ive noticed a lot of times....it normally takes lot of time to reach a destination but less of it to return from there....

just had the same breaks where we had taken while going....ofcourse the duration of the break was much lesser....

all was well....no incidents nothing........(touchwood! thank god !)

on the way back we had a SNACK ( it was approx. 5.30pm ) at McDonalds...had some pototo wedges and fries...( no heavy things and non-veg plz as i said above )avoid cold drinks also as it will lead to heavy feeling and GAS !!

Well we entered my building @ 8pm and that was it. Adriel came to my home.....we sat down...chatted a little ...drank water and all and he went to his place...

i emptied the bag.....
had a shower...
a light dinner...
and off to sleep.

and its almost 12.30 in the night now ive finished typing this....will be off to sleep now too...take care u all...and drive safe....hope u all liked my trip write-up.

Great Experience Hanoz...you must've enjoyed yourself. I envy you!

But please don't reserve your helmets only for long trips. Wear it every time you mount your bike! It surely pays to wear a helmet!

That will surely b a record time darius...
I did not calculate the Panvel-Lonavla time..we did Mankhurd-Lonavla in 1 hr. 15 mins, then had a 15 mins break at Lonavla, then came to Pune ( Chandni Chowk in 42mins )

LEft Mankhurd at exactly 3:30, reached Lonavla at 4:45 exact. Then Left Lonavla at 5:00 sharp, and reached Chandni chowk at 5:42 sharp.

So thats 2 hours and 12 mins to b exact, that including a 15 mins break at lonavla + a 5 min fuel break = 20 mins.

So actual Mumbai-Pune would b 112 mins thats 1 Hour 52 mins....is that a record ? It was 160 kms...so that comes to 1.4km / min
thats an avg. speed of 84. Will try and better it next time....
