Prologue:

We were planning something big, real big. But before that I needed to check my limit. And that only could happen if I go Puri and return within 2.5 days, a 1300 km ride. As usual plan got fixed very quickly. 14th August was the date, and we planned to return by 16th night. Within this period we would visit Chilka, Puri and Nandonkanon. So was the plan. But everything had to change.

The Ride and the Riders:

Sandeep Bagchi -> Avenger 200
Atish and Sourav -> HH Hunk 150
Sourav Da -> P200
Akash -> P180 UG3
Pritam -> ZMA
ADC -> Bullet (Joined later)
Ajasra and Poulomi -> RTR 160 Fi
And me -> P220 DTS-i

Day 1
Distance Covered: 580 km on my speedometer



RoadRollers is the name of a group which travels to unknown places, this was my 4th ride with the group, and now I am a part of it. I bought my new P220 two weeks back, the bike only did 1600 km so far, I has to complete the run-in of the bike before the mega ride, so I had to take the new babe to Puri. This was my longest Ride with RoadRollers, and of course the most hectic one.


We planned to make this trip and Independent one, 0000 hours and I meet Sandeep near his home. We started and after few kilometers Atish and Sourav joined us. Sourav came as Atish’s pillion. Akash and Pritam were suppose to join 10 km later, but they didn’t. At Kona expressway Sourav da joined us on his p200. We called Akash and told him to ride to Kolaghat, where we will be waiting for him. It took 1 hour to reach Kolaghat which was 40 km from Kona Expressway. Time was 01:30 in the watch. We had some tea and cigarettes. Akash and Pritam joined us few minutes later. After a long time Akash was riding with us. Pritam’s ZMA had some works on its engine, so he needed to stick to 60 kmph. Now that was a problem, the highway was inviting us to ride at a high speed and moreover the traffic was less. However we maintained a speed of 70 after Kolaghat till Kharagpur

Then a twist in the plan came. At 0300 hours Ajasra called Sandeep that they want to join us, we were already 150 km away from Kolkata. Sandeep agreed, and decided that Akash, Pritam and Sourav da would ride to Balassore while the rest would wait for them; I was one of them who waited for long 3 hours. We were waiting in the middle of NH6 (National Highway 6), where no big dhabas were there, 3-4 cups of tea was already finished. We waited till 6. Then Ajasra and Poulomi came. We were supposed to reach Orissa by this time, but we were still now in West Bengal. However we started again. After Kharagpur we took the dazzling NH60. The highway was made of cement; it was a 4 lane highway with no traffic at all. And I got the chance to ride a high speed.

Have you ever rode in the morning, when the sun just started to show, the cool breeze was so soothing that I stopped several times to open my helmet and feel the air. The grass was green on both of the sides of the highway. One of the best roads I have ever ridden. We were almost near the border of Orissa and West Bengal. Today was Independence Day, so we could see the Indian Flag all over, in the trucks, dhabas and almost on all vehicles.

We stopped once we entered Orissa.

Akash and Pritam was already 100 km ahead of us, they had already crossed Balassore. 0800 hours in the morning and I was hungry like anything. So we decided not to take any more breaks before Balassore. Just before Balassore Anirban da met with us. He was riding alone on his RE Bullet, with a National Flag hanging behind. Sandeep and him already had 2 3 rides in the past. We stopped to have food, and I was like very much relieved. Finally I was going to have some food.

Nice writeup, interesting ride.. however i don't see any difference between the last two paragraph... Waiting for the rest of logs and pics ...

Is the blue ride in the first pic Adreno? the black painted Engine is confusing me. It is not listed in the rides. not a part of the group?

No that bike doesn't belong to our group, and yes that was a highly modified Adreno
