  • planning to do bombay after eid......

    hello my biker brothers......

    well ,

this year has really been lucky for me(a.h) ,
that after being leh'd ( in june ), i am again in a mood to plan another journey,
but this time it'll be a smooth highway ride........from delhi to bombay & back(most probably leaving on 27th ), and may eventually land me in goa as well..

its still my frth yr of clg , and i guess that these two will be some glittering chapters of my travelogue..

i just needed a bit help from you guy's in respect of the road conditions and distance.

    here are some specific pts:

what is the distance delhi-udaipur , and delhi-vadodra, thats because i actually want to land up in vadodra on day 1 , but at the same time , i do not want to be stressed , as might be having a pillion , (for whom im sure, that he will not be comfortable on the back of p220)

and distance between important points as well.

and yes , i have learnt from several post that some stretch of road from udaipur is still under const . so any updates regarding that will be helpful as well...

any gud bypasses or cuts may also help in shortening the trip and time....

and atlast gud stop points and dhabas......

guys, will be waiting for your responses.....

and yes if anybody is interested in driving along , then u are surely welcome.........

your total distance would be ~1500 kms.
vadodara is around 1060 kms from delhi, udaipur is 700...
its almost impossible to reach vadodara same day...
u should aim for udaipur...if u reach udaipur very early...then u should come to himmatnagar which is 200 kms from udaipur (vadodara is further 160 kms. from himmatnagar)
but i think u should budget three days for this journey as total travel time (including breaks but not night halt) would be more than 30 hours

From Udaipur to Mumbai will take 15-20 hrs depending on your speed n traffic. GQ is buttersmooth, so it wont be much problem. Ahmedabad to Mumbai should take maximum 10 hrs.

The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.

I recommend the Eicher India Roadmap. And I don’t recommend riding Delhi – Bombay – Delhi with a Pillion. It is possible but it won’t be enjoyable and that’s why we tour on bikes.
I’ve done Jaipur – Ahmadabad in eight and a bit hours on a Blaze. So I guess Delhi Ahmadabad is possible but very difficult. I wouldn’t bother trying it unless you have serious touring experience and the whole bike to yourself. My word of advice is be flexible. If you need to spend a night in Jaipur. Like I said before, its all about having fun more than eating miles.

@ old_novice: thanx brother , have finally decided to go in three days , might add it to two , while returning , because then the roads will be familiar ...

@ spiderweb: thanx brother , but could'nt get the GQ thing(is it differed from the NH-8 at any point , i though it includes the complete NH-8),

@ gsferrari: thanx for the link brother.....

@ Gasolinejunkie: thanx for the advice brother, i really appreciate it, well actually i personally have sufficient experience for these long drives, but yes the pillion might get very tired , so there fore i will try to cover it up in three days 500kms each.

@ gsgrewal: thanx brother , this is actually something very useful.......

MEANWHILE , I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT THERE IS AN EXPRESSWAY IN GUJARAT ON THIS HIGHWAY( GUESS THE AHMEDABAD - VADODRA EXPRESSWAY)(nh-8) , BUT BIKES ARE NOT ALLOWED ON IT , ANY HINT???

AND YES , GUYS PLEASE GIVE SOME REVIEW ON GOOD DHABAS AND HOTELS , ATLEAST FOR AJMER AND UDAIPUR (where i am planning to halt to and fro , respt.)

thank s to u all for ur great response......

yes AHMEDABAD-VADODRA EXPRESSWAY NE-1, u cant take ur bike on this... but even i had heard that there is a service lane where u can drive on ur bike..

but is this service lane available for the whole stretch that i dont know....

well bro instead of taking NE1 u should continue to NH8, there are no restriction of bikes on this highway...NE1 just run along side the NH8 and it is little bit straight then NH8 and has only one exit near anand thats all..thats y it reduces the journey time...

yes i read about it , in the (great india roadtrip 09), day 4 , when even sunny and old fox could not get the permission to cross it on their r1's, to meri 220 ko kaun jaane dega yaar..

but yes , i am even looking out for travel partners, if anybody is interested , because , until now i was relying on a pillion , who is now a bit confused i guess!!
