Adding to the list: the "Mentos" advertisement with the biker who finds himself helmetless at a checkpoint, and dons a watermelon shell as a "helmet" to get past. Notable for all the other bikers visible in the background who are also putting on helmets that had been balanced on mirrors or hanging from seats.

Sheel bro, I have seen this interview on the day it was released & I clearly remember John telling the viewers to wear a helmet & the reason they (he & charusia) arent wearing one. The news guys took special permission from the Police I think - but don't exactly remember, since its been a while.
Its a long 20-25 min interview with 3-4 parts.

ps. I'm not defending the act, just stating what I remember.

My personal opinion - they should Atleast wear an open faced helmet, rather than none at all.
