First of all, my budget <= 50,000 bucks
I have narrowed down on the Canon 450D, 500D both with the 18-55 lens.

My photography will mostly be outdoors, touring, house party's and automobiles.
Could you all please suggest what I should go for, the pro's cons and other suggestions in Nikon as well.

I figured out that the prices in Singapore are way cheaper than India. And prices in America are way cheaper than Singapore. So I might be buying the Camera from America (friends will bring it for me) or Singapore (when I go there in May).

Also, there is this camera called the Canon Rebel T2i /EOS 550D which is an 18mp camera with full HD video Recording available for 42k in the USofA. Is that a good deal as well??

Speedy responses will definitely help my confusions and make me set a clear mind of how much to Save.
Is my QUERY by any chance OT ??
Nobody seems to be bothered to answer me

@Coplay: Extremely sorry for not replying earlier. I just didn't see your post. I believe you must try and get the EOS 550D if you can find one! It's a very good camera, with full HD video recording, although video recording is just a luxury when it comes to D-SLRs as these cameras are primarily meant for still photography, which they do pretty darn well.

And 42k odd for the 550D is an absolute steal, total bargain. The 450D has really become an "outdated" model, but then again, I myself am using an age-old 400D and am very happy with it. I would suggest you use both the 500D and the 550D, and see which one you really prefer, because I don't see budget being a problem here as both are well below the Rs.50,000/- budget that you have. My suggestion would be, get the 550D with the 18-55mm IS lens, and start taking some photos.

Have you ever used a D-SLR earlier? If not, then it might be a little bit of a learning curve for you, looking at the plethora of option that a D-SLR offers. Also, keep in mind that GETTING a D-SLR is just the start; subsequently, getting the lenses to cover the focal lengths is where your finances would go haywire!

^^ Thanks Aryan.
I have also been contemplating a lot on the 550D mainly because of the bigger sensor and higher ISO capabilities. As you said, the video is not something I am interested in. However it does have a manual exposure control in the Video mode. Apparently Its not available on EBAY and only one piece available on AMAZON since the camera was launched on Feb 8th, 2010, which is like 30 days back.

For the price, I feel its a steal. I can invest the rest of my budget on a decent Flashgun, memory card and some silver reflectors.

I have been using a friend's Canon EOS 1000D till now. I have used it for more than a year and I am quite well versed with it.
I will ask a friend who is coming back from America to bring it along in 2 months. Just waiting for some good reviews about the camera.

@Coplay: Lovely. But, if you ask me, instead of a flash, I would advise you to go for a lens; something like the 50mm f1.8 or f1.4, or if you want something like a 135mm reach (on APS-C body), get the 85mm f1.8; brilliant lens!
