I need to transport my scooter to my home in mumbai from New Delhi (i am in hostel), i bought a new bike so decided to send my activa back to home. Fortunetly i am also going to mumbai on 30th june in rajdhani exp.

1. Can i take my scooter along with me i the same train.
2. any kind of pre booking ?
3. approx cost in railway?
4. Amount of petrol allowed in the tank ?

Specially for mumbai xbhpians - do i have to pay any taxes at the station itself to take my vehicle out?

1. You can take it along.
2. You need to book your scooter in the same train.
3. Cost shd be around 1K or less.
4. Empty tank. Petrol not allowed.

I'll recommend Pre-booking if u want to make sure that it is transported with you.

hey me and my scooter reached safely..
i just wanted to share the information and other things related to the transportation -

From Delhi -

1. No pre booking required, just be there at the parcel counter 4 hrs before the departure of the train.

2. Carry photocopies of the registration certificate as well as your identity proof.

3. Railway charges approx 1 Re. per km of the total distance.

4. Along with the distance charge they will charge 10% of the remaining value(depreciation) of your vehicle and minimum charge of weight is 200 kgs (approx. Rs. 100).

5. Packing charges of your machine will be around Rs. 100 - 150.

6. Beware of the agents.

My brother has moved to another city. I need to send his bike to him. Bike is in his name. Can I transport it through Indian Railways?

I have transported my bike once but this bike's RC is in my brother's name, will that be an issue with Railways?

No issues related to transportation of bike of someone others name, as my scooter which i took to mumbai is registered with my dad name. its just that if you are not going in the same train and you just sending your bike then the cost will be more. You need to give your ID proof.

Thanks. What was the approximate cost involved in sending from Delhi to Mumbai? Did they also ask you for bribe like they did to me when I sent my bike as luggage?

Isnt the cost less in case of parcel (not travelling in the same train) than in case of taking it as luggage (travelling in the same train). I think that is what was told me the last time when I transported my bike as luggage with me.
