hey guys i wanna increase the cruising abilities of my cbz xtreme and increase the top end so I thought id do some sprocketing well i have two options
opt 1 take the chain sprocket kit from my bros zma(lying unused for for the past 6 mts since he has gone abroad) or option 2 manually reduce the number of sprocket teeth through welding the reason i plan on doing this is that the xtreme can red line quite easily in 5th and and does around 115-118(speedo) at around 9000rpm redline and can go on to touch 125 tops at around 9500+ rpm hence if I put the zmas sprocket i can do around 115-118 at around 8000 rpm and be able to touch around 130 before it redlines the cbz xtreme being more rev friendly unlike the zma which looses massive amounts of power after 7500 rpm I hope a little tall gearing would not be hazzardous and more beneficial during long tours with lesser strain on the engine I would like some gyaan from some experts before carrying out this mod.. Btw does any one know the front and rear sprocket sizes of the xtreme??? |

I had Rear-sprocketed my P180 earlier this year (40 teeth). Reason: My college was on Jaipur Road (highway) ... Now, it's back in City. So, I got stock sprocket (43 teeth) back...
See, on highways it became fun to ride it. Vibrations reduced a bit & I actually got 52 kmpl constant! Once I had to submit a project in college & I was running late. Ripped it! Got some 131 on speedo... don't remember @ what rpm... But, when my college was changed, I found that dragging the higher ratio became tough, unless I rip & live closer to redline most of time. Cities are very crowded areas. Sometime, I had to drive at 3kmph (1st gear, Clutch half pressed, no accel.) ... Terrible! And this happened when I was only 3 teeth short... So, take my word & go for it. You would love the change, unless driving in crowded areas. Even in cities, it won;t be much problem. But don't extend beyond (-)4 teeth if a little low speed driving is a matter. --> Coming to your question, Don't weld the sprocket at all. Reg. using ZMA's sprocket, don't take it from a used bike. Instead go to HH Showroom, and get a new ZMA Sprocket + a "Rolon" Chain ... & later Always replace chain & sprocket together. ![]() I don't know ZMA & CBZX Sprocket sizes. P180 however, has 43 teeth with 4 bolt holes on it. But, avoid changing more than (-)5 teeth from Stock... Good luck! Last edited by Samarth 619; 12-14-2008 at 12:02 AM. |

Thanks for your reply
but does any one know about the sprocket sizes of the xtreme I know that the zma has a 13T front and 42T rear but does any one know about the xtreme's sprocket?? ne way the reason that I want to inter change the chain sprockets of both bikes is that the zma has really tall gearing and the engine is almost hopeless after 7k+ rpm cause the zma's engine is not a rev happy one hence I thought that the cbz xtremes chain sprocket is quite short geared will help in improoving the the acceleration through out the rev range and will be cost effective too. |

front is 14T and rear is 43T.fitting zma sprocket will give u better acceleration but lower top end 100-110 kph.zma sprocket is not suitable for ur requirement.

some 180 dtsi v2,17 " alloys also come in 43T at rear at that time but when black paint 180 is introduced 44T at rear is common fitment, cos mine also at the rear sprocket is 43T.but now there is none 43T sprocket available.

just gt a brand new chain-sprocket set,but just sprocketing can stress ur engine, u need to make corresponding changes in the engine for optimum results.higher the number of teeth, higher top-end; and lower the number of teeth u compromise the low-end torque, but tend to get a better top-end.

i think zma's top speed is good enough and no need of sprocketing unless ur zma is highly modified and producing much power then stock bike.If u do sprocketing in zma for top speed,ur bikes lower end is too weak and u will have to rev hard to pull ur bike in city traffic.
