    i didn't know in which section to ask this question so i put it here.

    a moto GP 2009 racing engine is a 4 cylinder 800 cubic centimeters(straight or V formation) which produces around 230 Bhp(approx) at around 18000 Rpm(redline).it is naturally aspirated,DOHC and four valve per cylinder.

    a formula 1 (2009) engine is a 2.4 liter 8 cylinder v layout,producing around 800 Bhp(approx) at around 18000 Rpm(redline).it is naturally aspirated,four valve per cylinder,naturally aspirated.


    my question is when compairing both these racing engines,a Formula 1 engine is producing more power to cubic capacity ratio than a motoGp racing engine,why is that?both engines redline at 18000 Rpm(redline limit according to regulation),so basically both should produce equivalent power.is it because of the ram air effect of a formula 1 engine which is limited by size on a moto Gp engine.are the intake manifolds of a moto Gp engine being smaller in size a reason for the reduced power ratio.or is there some other reason that i probably dont know of?
