Default Your Bike Delivery Experience - Going Down the Nostalgic Lane

I can never forget the day and the emotions that I went through while getting my first bike. It was Sunday, 11th August 2002. I have been researching on the bike I want to purchase for over a month now. Even after being told "Are Pulsar to bahut petrol piyegi"..."Are bahut bhaari hai"..."Are its for racing", my heart was set on it. If I had to buy, it would be Pulsar.

I recently got a job and wanted to get a bike to commute. But, I never realized that what I was buying was not just for commuting. It will create a whole new world for me.

It was Sunday and after waiting for few rainy days, the sun shined a bit. I told my mom that today is the day. But, my heart nearly sank when I came to know that we haven't withdrew the money from the bank. But, just then my mom told me that her one friend can help us and we can pay them tomorrow morning. WOW !!! My eyes sparkled up and I got ready. Got the money and went to the Showroom. All I was doing was gazing at every pulsar shining over there.

"What color do you want?", asked my mom.

"Black", I said without any hesitation.

We inspected few pieces and decided the one I wanted. The showroom guys then pulled down a Shining Pulsar from the display. The moment it came down, it was mine . While the paper work was being done I was just staring at her from different angles . "What a tank !!!" ...I thought. They has the biggest tank size, both in terms of capacity and looks.

I was then handed the keys and the gate pass. I felt like hugging every guy over there . I kicked and it groaned, with its distinct original Classic Pulsar note. I then came out of the showroom and by that time it got cloudy. I was enjoying the ride, the bike and the attention of course . I reached the temple directly and did the pooja and distributed sweets.

"Tomorrow is gonna be exciting...yessssssssssssss...I'll be going office on my bike...WOW..Yes Yes Yes", I kept thinking all night. Trust me, the next day I got up so early, cleaned the bike...made sure that every inch was sparkling and set out for my office. It rained a bit that day. I took shelter of the trees watching my new baby enjoying the drizzle. As soon as it stopped I took out a big white CLEAN cloth and wiped off the water..very carefully. And I zoomed off to my office. That day and today....it is still with me, my faithful Pulsar. It has got old but I will never forget what pleasure it gave me, how proud it made me and Will Forever !!!

Post your Bike Delivery Experiences and let's ride down that nostalgic lane .

Universal Thread Approved.

I have gone through two such sweet and memorable experiences; one, when I got the delivery of my P180 Classic back in November 2002 and the latter one, more recently, about a year back, on August, 2008.

I was studying in college when I got my first bike - the P180 Classic. It was a beautiful day. It was ofcourse raining (like it always does, in Shillong). Although, I had to wait almost a whole day for the bike to be delivered, but time just seemed to fly on that auspicious day. My P180 Classic was JUST the second P180 (or for that matter the second Pulsar) to have delivered in the small city of Shillong.

More recently, I got the P200 about a year back. I felt really happy riding her out of the showroom for the very first time. It felt good, and the old memories freshened up inside my mind as I stood on a red light, looking at the beautifully sculpted fuel tank and thinking about the old times. That groan had remained, that lovely fuel tank had remained, but that basic character of the Pulsar has just changed that wee bit for the good. And this is what felt good. Technologically, the bike might not have taken a BIG leap so to say, but my heart was surely skipping a beat each time the piston of the 198cc engine went up and down in the cylinder. Just as my mind was going down the memory lane, the lights turned green and the four-wheeled guy decided to break me out of my shackles by the deafeningly loud horn!

But, believe me, the gamut of emotions that one feels while getting that FIRST motorbike of his/ her life is simply unmatchable and unforgettable. Thanks Leon, for taking us all down the memory lane. I am sure EACH one us has a tale to tell of his/ her own. And these emotions, these memories are absolutely priceless, to say the least.

Default Nice Topic!

That reminds me of the moment when i went with my Amma to get the delivery of my Bro i.e. 1999 Black CBZ with disk brakes.
Like how it happened with Aryan, even i was told why you want such a big bike, you can buy a second hand car in the same amount. And i was worried that my mom doesn't end up changing her mind :-p

Since it was launched only few months back, very few were on the road and there was a long waiting period. I was already frustrated with the ever postoning delivery date, but "The Day" came and i was on my bro in no time. I still remember every single detail of how i was feeling. Kick started it and told my mom to hop on, and there i was riding it on the road feeling proud .. real proud.

It is year 2009 and now i even own a Ninja 650R, but the joy and staisfaction i get it on my bro, nothing can even come close.

I was in Jammu last month and i got my bro new projection lamps, could not find a proper fitment for the assembly but used a rope to hand it there.
You guys got to see the beam emerging out of those beautiful Bentley Projection Lamps, just switching it on and off would force trucks and buses to get a side and give way assuming something bigger than them was coming ;-p he he

Here is one pic of how it looks and how i hanged it there.

Went to HP for a road trip with my pals, and i was so happy and amazed to see my bro's performance. It was ripping to 90 in no time even with a pillion ... He make me soooooo Proud :-D

Here's a li'l History behind my Sudden 1st Love, My Dad almost bought me the Unicorn in 2003 but somehow coz of some financial issues we dropped the Idea. Then came 07 I was earning and all pumped up to finally buy my fav bike then, the Unicorn but I was holding on till the launch of RTR eFI for it's review(they launched it after MAY 08) also thought bout the P200 but found it to be quite bulky and powerful for a 1st timer like me(since I din't know how to ride a bike then). It was November 14th 07 and I decided to book a black Unicorn, I was with my friend who could ride it home(I wanted to learn riding on my Own Bike).. on my way to the Dealer I saw 2 P200s @ the Signal that was the best looking Indian Bike I ever saw and heck this thought ran thru my mind of cancelling my 5 year fav bike the Unicorn and booking the P200 and thank god I din't change my mind after that. I straight away went to the Dealer booked my Black P200 after 2 weeks on 2 December 07 got the delivery. It was 8pm just outside the Dealer's place I saw a bike covered, went inside his place signed some documents and then came the moment he unvealed the love of my life, It was the best moment of my life.. I finally got hold of my own bike. I started it and woahhh.. what a roar.. that feeling was just out of this world, buying your own bike by your own hard-earned cash that was THE moment!! All those memories of how I started loving bikes, how I missed out on the Unicorn 4-5 yrs back.. ran thru my mind with the sound of my bike @ 2k RPM in the BG . I wanted to take a short ride.. but din't had guts as I din't know how to ride, but don't know what kicked me I took it off the Centre Stand and slowly disengaged the clutch after putting it in 1st gear. It started moving with both my feet almost touching the ground, woohoo I rode a Bike.. rode it for almost 20-30 ft. My friend rode it home(I was pillion :embarrased: ), Mom did the pooja and stuff.. distributed sweets.. learnt thoroughly how to ride in 2 weeks.. and still riding it.

It's been more than 35k Kms till now in 19 Months and now I can pop a small wheelie too (refer to my Avatar).

Nice topic buddy!

How can I forget that day. The day when I got my first bike and turned into a biker from an ordinary kid. It was a year back. I wanted a bike since quite sometime, I was pestering at home everytime about it. Finally the day arrived. The next day was our fresher's party and I wanted to be the first guy in my class to own a bike. I was in college that day, called up my mom and informed her about the party and said that I wanted a bike that day itself. My mom agreed to that. But my mind was in complete mayhem as to which bike should I buy. I used to ride my late grandpa's chetak till now since I was a learner and didn't even have a permanent license. I had just two options in my mind, either to go for the high-end Indian bikes like the Karizma R or the Pulsar 220(since R15 was not released then) or to go for the bike which gives the maximum mileage. After pondering over the pros and cons of both these kinds, I finally zeroed on the Bajaj Platina since I like touring a lot and all my pocket money used to go for petrol(thanks to chetak which used to give 25km/l). I thought, if I would buy those high-end bikes, my life would just be limited to home-college and back. Which I didn't want. So finally told my mom about my decision, went to Rahul Auto Bajaj, Begumpet, Hyderabad and paid the money for the bike. Went in the service center and selected the colour and bike. I selected the bike with the least odometer reading i.e 1.7 km. I got all the extra accessories fitted onto the bike. They washed the bike and finally presented it to me. The mechanic explained the functioning of various switches and gear pattern, etc. Frankly speaking, I didn't have much experience of riding a bike then and I was quite skeptical of riding a bike for the first time in the busy evening rush hour and that too with my mom as pillion. Nevertheless I sat on my bike and rode from the showroom to my home i.e 10 km. I can say, this was the best ride of my life. I was taking utmost care while riding, not to cross the specified speeds in each gear. I was constantly looking at the speedometer for that. Reached home, bought sweets for my sisters. Took them for a short ride later that evening. They were as happy as me. One year has passed now, my love is increasing day by day for my bike. My bike has never troubled me(except to a few punctures). I love riding it daily and for as long as I can. I never feel tired while riding and can go on riding continuously for hours together. I have covered 29000 km on it by now. I have a dream of covering 100000 km on it in 3 years. Hope I will be able to do that. I have tested my bike in every front. Tested the top speed, maximum mileage, endurance, etc. I wish to ride to Leh from Hyderabad on my bike someday.

WOW!! Nice experiences there guys.

One of most special and unforgetful are the moments when you riding from the showroom back to your place. You keep looking how the neutral glows and indicators blinks, how the horn makes your bike's presence felt around and no matter how much experience you have, you always ride it like a novice.

Default Going way back the nostalgic lane.

Wicked thread :-) Here I go...

The year was 1998 I had always dreamed about getting a Yamaha RX and by now the RX - 100 had long stopped production and the RXG had evolved into the RXZ and the RX - 135 and I wanted the RXZ but acording my Dad that bike did not look like a bike (wonder what gave him that idea maybe the Z was quite a radical change for Papa) after three days of conflict I releneted and agreed to get an RX -135 and approached the now Defunct Sagar motors for a bike and they Requested DD and dad sorted all that and when Dad me got there they told us that as we had a DD it would take em 3 days to deliver the bike but If we had cash they could get us the bike in a day. pfff. So Dad got me in his car took me to Hebbal the other end of town to get cash and by now I was quite pi$$ed off with Sagar for giving me the run around and decided to go to Pacer on infantry road. By now Dad had lost patientce and gave me the cash and let me go get a a bike so picked the GF and landed at Pacer and lo and behold there she was my "Powersalve" in maroon and not in the wide band graphic of an 135 but with a pin stipe of the 100. Wow I saw to my self the GF was also really kicked about getting a Unique bike like this and the Pacer guys being the friendly sporty guys that they were said I could ride off the bike and then meet them back at the Jayanagr RTO later that afternoon when they'd give me the number and again to my luck it had the mark of a beast the number ended up beaing 7666. If any of a xbhpians come across this RX135 KA-05-X-7666 please give her a nice pat on the tank for me :-) better if one of ya own her and wanna sell here I am :-) anyways after the number allotement we went to Ganesha temple got the pooja done and she was mine...

The year now 2002 Bajaj had released a rage in Indian motorcycling the Pulsar twins were out and by now the Powerslave the RX had been ridden 70 k kms and I needed a new bike as my work commute was gonna get longer by a good 20 kms everyday and I needed a bigger bike so approached Popular motors and shelled a down payment and applied for finance but the bajaj finance guys were just not being transperent and were taking ages to alot my bike and finally mum and me lost it and Mamma being the Angel that she is came up with some more cash so we did nt have to take a loan for the bike and then when we came up with the cash bloody bajaj say they can give me the bike in two days huh! And on the fateful day they had two black 180s parked next to each other and the sales guy pointed the bike that was alotted to me of the two somehow I instintively knew the one he pointed was gonna be my bike. Again as a ritual I picked up the GF and the bike was all ready for me I take the bike out just out of the showroom and discover that the horn was going ho..nk pfft ho.....nkkkkkkk pffft, oh what a dampner that was to my sprits so took the bike back into the showroom and had them fix the horn and "Anduril" (Named after Aragorn's mythical sword from lord of the rings) was mine.

The year now was 2003 a year had passed after the pulsar and I somehow never came to terms with a pulsar, more on that for another time and another place and this fine morning I decided and I had enuff and I am getting another bike and decided to go in for an RXZ the disc braked Yamaha racing blue ones were being sold then so Mamma and me went to the now Defunct Yamaha plaza in Jaya nagar and saw the bike all we had to shell was 7k in exchange of the pulsar well I almost sealed the deal but this thought of Moving down the 'CC' ladder did not apeal to me and my Mate Chubby called me at that moment and urged me to go for my dream then and get a Bullet. Convinced Mum in 5 mins that a Bullet is what I need and left the poor Yamaha guys and headed straight to Teknik motors and was helped by Anand there to Choose Electra 350 "Pheonix" as she would come to be known, as I wanted a Silver and Teknik did not have stock then Anand made a few calls and figured that a silver Electra was getting shipped to a dealer in Mangalore and had that Diverted to Tekniks and they sorted it and I was getting a silver Electra. Two days later was Akshaya Tritya suposedly a very auspioscous day to buy gold so Mum figured getting this Iron Horse on that day would prove lucky and I happened to have the MAT exam on the day of the delivery gosh! On the day I went gave my MAT paper and Gathered two of my best mates Chubby and Deepak and went to Tekniks and there she was "Phoenix" and she was mine.

Fast forward to 2009 though I loved the "Phoenix" the electra to bits she could not satiate my need for a high revver and I always wanted a high revver and decided to get another bike and decided to get an FZS and this time approached Orion motors as they happen to be just down the road from my office. Quite a simple deal met Mr Ramesh there who was very helpful and co operative landed there with 77k in cash handed it to him signed papers and wanted to chose my bike and Mr Ramesh asked me if I wanted to see the bike after he allots it or if I would like to choose the bike so he can alot the choosen bike? Stupid question and I replied well i choose it and then you can alot it! lol. So the kind man took me over to the 3rd floor of orion where about 7 - 8 black and yellow FZS were parked and said schoose and there in the second line was this one bike with a special aura and glow. She seemed like she was looking at me with eager eyes saying Lax - hear I am your "Baby Beast" thats it i ran to her as though attracted by an overwhelming magnetism of her aura and requested Mr Ramesh to allot her and he obliged. Done! The next day I called Mr Ramesh around 4 and he said all the processes are done and I could go to the show room around 5:30 to collect the bike. This time it was back to the ol ritual picked up the GF (yea still a GF pfff) we got there the GF was getting really impatient and had to calm her down and got here engaged staring at a R1 that Orion had and that some day the R1 dream would come tru. By this time Mr Ramesh came down with some register, a pair of Keys, An owners manual and toolkit and I knew that that was the moment of truth he made me sign the register and took me to the paddock outside where "Baby Beast" was parked and gave me a meticulous demo of the bike, like a lecturer training a student in a chemistry lab and I was like thinking Aw man I can 'kin figure out how to operate Hi and Low beam etc, but stayed patient as I knew he was only doing his job. And he went on to tell me that Yamaha are very strict about service schdules and I should not miss it even by a day and If I did I would lose me free services and I thoght to meslf pff thats rude. But forgot all about at the press of that button on the right grip when she powered to life with an engine note so confident and so sure and she was mine.

Now dreaming of the day i get the next bike as "Baby Beast's" stablemate will it be a Bajaj or a Yamaha I dunno waiting eagerly for that day. And this i guess this is my longest post on xbhp

It was 11th of August 2008. My dad woke me up that morning and told me, "Beta aaj apan bike book karayala jau ya. Konti havi ahe Pulsar na?"[Translation: Son today we are gonna go to book a bike. What bike do you want?Pulsar right?]. I was like yes yes a pulsar. Finally the discussions of getting a bike had resulted into this. it was the best morning ever. I was discussing with dad about the booking process. And I said so Pulsar 200 DTS-i it is..
He asked me..200...???Is it 200cc?how much does it cost??
I said yes its 200CC and it costs 80k.[it did cost 80k here back then].
he said, I'll do one thing. I'll get you grandpa's rusty old Luna.Ride it and make do.

i was like...whoa!!
he said I am kidding. but 200 doesnot fit our budget. he asked what engine sizes pulsar comes in. I said 150... he said go for 150 even before listening further. I said oh cmon now. He said either that or Luna or heck...even nothing.
I finally agreed....

Now here's the fun part..
on the same day dad went to office and he realised he had to take a flight to New Delhi that night. So he sent mom to book it with me. I thought of an idea. I booked the P180 UG3, mom said dad had asked u to get 150. I showed her that the cost difference was just 2.5k. She agreed. So there I booked a Cherry Red P180UG3.
I couldn't sleep 3 nights. One fear of Dad kicking my ass and one excitement of getting my bike.

Surprisingly dad didnt say a word about it.

I finally got my bike on the 14th of August 2008.There she stood. my shiny sparkling new red p180. The showroom guy took my bike outside. i went outside and was surprised by the change in its color shade due to the light outside. It shows 3 different shades in different kinds of light.
I hopped on the saddle. Pushed the self. It didn't crank. I tried again. Didnt work. Got pissed. Called the guy outside. he flicked the engine killswitch and the crank spun and the the engine roared. he asked me to fill in petrol. I went to the nearby petrol pump .Filled in 200 bucks worth xtrapremium. While on the way to the pump, I noticed that I was going at 0km/hr.. the speedo was disconnected. On the way back again went to the showroom, the guy was loke..oops forgot that one.. and the journey's been amazing since then..

@yamaha trooper.. same here bro...my longest post too.
