Hi folks,
I need to get new bike for my younger bro., I’m little bit confuses to choose machine for him; there is some constrain to selection: >> Style (style and comfort) >> Performance (Mileage, Breaking) >> Cost (on road price and maintain cost) He is 21 & just started his job, I’m just gon give DP while purchasing; rest of EMI and fuel expenses is on his side so need BEST DEAL for his new bike. According to my bro, he need bike with good power, performance, ride quality, reliability and good mileage. I do having following makes in mind: Yamaha Fazer Yamaha yzf R 15 Pulser 150 /180 /200 Pulser 220 karizma R Please send details like approximately on road price in pune, mileage and rating to bike in performance (out of 5- 5= max/1=min) as well as at last your personal like & why? Yamaha Fazer Price in pune - Mileage - Rating - Yamaha yzf R 15 Price in pune - Mileage - Rating - Pulser 150 /180 /200 (You can define it separate too) Price in pune - Mileage - Rating - Pulser 220 Price in pune - Mileage - Rating - karizma R Price in pune - Mileage - Rating - Your personal like & why? - ________________________________________ Firstly want to thanks to Path- for his marvelous reply… Refer to Aargee, answering to his query and questions. 1. What is that made up the following bikes in your mind? Thos machine selection is made by my younger bro. as I mentioned he need bike with good power, performance, ride quality, reliability and good mileage and that was the list according to his liking: Yamaha Fazer Yamaha yzf R 15 Pulsar 150 /180 /200 Pulsar 220 karizma R **But after visiting motor dealer and according to finance conditions I’m removing KarizmaR and R15 from list, so now Yamaha Fazer or Pulsar 150 /180 /200 or may be P220 is in option. As well after discussing with Maddy (My bro), he is deadly in love with Fazer because he mean to say pulsar is too common. 2. What's the usage of the bike? As already I mentioned, he just started working so Daily office (around 20 KM) and on weekends- parting and with friends (might be some 50-60 km) and sometime long ride in month (200 km) So I think usage of the bike will be touring or regular commute 3. Have you or your brother gone to the showrooms to TD the bikes? What're your or your brother's preference? What's your brother's built & height? One by one A. he didn’t TD yet, but he use my pulsar 150 sometime, and now he do have only to option pulsar or fazer; so fazer is not TD yet B. he is deadly in love with Fazer C. he is average built- A-21, H-5’10”, W- 64 Kg What is the maximum DP that you can afford & what's the maximum budget for the motorcycle? DP-30-35% Budget- 75K (+/- 3k) 5. Last but not the least, have you searched XBHP for reviews on each of these motorcycles? >>yes, I searched XBHP for reviews on each of these motorcycles N’ sorry for spelling (its Pulsar & not Pulser) So now need more feedback, Please send details like approximately on road price in Pune, mileage and rating to bike in performance (out of 5- 5= max/1=min) as well as at last your personal like & why? Yamaha Fazer Price in Pune - Mileage - Rating - Pulsar 150 /180 /200/ 220 (You can define it separate too) Price in Pune - Mileage - Rating - Your personal like & why? - I’m just gon give DP (30-35 K) while purchasing; rest of EMI and fuel expenses is on his side Last edited by shanky_m; 03-26-2010 at 04:48 PM. |

Apart from that, why are there no cbz xtreme or HH hunk in your options?? They are good enough machines with that hero honda reliability. Your personal like & why? 1. R15-Look at no other bike if you can cough up the bills to maintain her. Her metal parts pose no major threat, but I can't say the same about those plastic fairings especially with every jacka55 wanting a poser shot while sitting on some-one else's bike. 2. Pulsar 220-If you want a good enough highway tool, without having to shell out Rs100000....get the P220. period 3. Pulsar 150-She's a great all-round performance machine. 4. Pulsar 135-I know that you're interested in the performance segment, but this bike can give you 65+kmpl and can take you to 122km/hr.....all at the measly cost of 55k(again delhi price....check local dealership for pune price).....try to beat that. For someone who wants a bike that sometimes he can go off street-racing with his biker pals and can also do the daily office-home commute at low fuel cost, this is the bike. Also, I'd like to say, DONOT GET THE FAZER she'll burn a hole in your pocket with that ridiculous price tag and that 30-35kmpl mileage, without giving you a hint of what the performance bike is meant to do. Although she is one looker of a bike. |

@Shanky - Welcome to the forum; appreciate if you can post an intro about you.
I've few questions for you 1. What is that made up the following bikes in your mind? I mean, why only 7 bikes (including the Pulsar variants) why not more or less or why not Splendor, Shine, Boxer etc? Yamaha Fazer Yamaha yzf R 15 Pulser 150 /180 /200 Pulser 220 karizma R 2. What's the usage of the bike? I mean, is it for regular commute or regular+touring or regular commute + luggage carrying 3. Have you or your brother gone to the showrooms to TD the bikes? What're your or your brother's preference? What's your brother's built & height? 4. What is the maximum DP that you can afford & what's the maximum budget for the motorcycle? 5. Last but not the least, have you searched XBHP for reviews on each of these motorcycles? PS - Pls check the spelling of the motorcycle, its Pulsar & not Pulser

May be you should zero in on a P150 or if the members don't feel offended, the FZ16 too.
Others will tell you the reasons for the former but for the later the reason owuld be -Butch looking fun to ride bike that we can expect to be as reliable as a Yamaha can be. Enjoyable ride and a head turner. Easy on your initial expense, light for a new rider and handles really well.

since everyone is answering in detail for the bikes you listed, i just wanna add one more bike to be considered.
The CBF stunner - looks great, runs well, and will give good mileage also. Also it will be cheaper than all of these bikes.

Get him FZ16
>> Style (style and comfort) >> Performance (Mileage, Breaking) >> Cost (on road price and maintain cost) it got everything one of the best style with comfort gives around 45kmpl if used wisely else taking the bike regularly too 7.5k rpm will give 35KMPL.. Breaking is the best one can get from a bike.. Price is around 70k go there and do negotiation or find some source and you might get the bike for cheap my friend got an fz16 for 67k.. R15 is the best if you can spend 40k more......
