Default <Solved>: Should I change...

I presently drive a Honda Unicorn, 800kms done, 3 months old (I only drive to college 10 Kms a day). The thing is I got lucky and my parents have given me an option to change, and you know opportunities like these are rare.

I presently favor the Fazer/ FZ16 and GS150R. The only reason I want to change is because, as of now, my Uni seems to hit some limiter @ 43kmph @ 3.4k rpm fifth gear.

So what do you say? Should I change my bike?

Other reasons:
1. If I sell the Uni a few months later its resale will drop due to the 2010 Uni.
2. Even if mileage is low people will use the bike's age to undercut the sale price.

BTW, I'm 6.2" tall and broad build. So I was wondering whether the FZ would be too small?

First thing i couldn't understand your reason for doing away wth the uni.

Next , Fazer costs around(83-84k) its a 150cc engine , a claimed tourer but if u ask me its just another cosmetic mod to the FZ , with no real touring potential as the ZMA or The P220. Why Dont you consider , ZMA or 220?
I feel the FZ and GS150R again fall back to the same category of the UNI , i feel its serious waste changing uni for the 150 cc commuters. UNI is a proven commuter , if you are looking at that segment. If you are looking for some power upgrade try out the ZMA or P220 ,

ZMA
MERITS:-being a relaxed tourer , Reliable Engine , Quality of spares very high , doesn't give you new issues often.

DEMERITS:- Its really age old one , (atleast to me) , 17ps never gives you the adrenaline rush. The Spares are very costly. Mileage is too low.

P220
MERITS:- An awesome tourer , with great capability of touring and continuosly doing very high speeds. You need to take a lil extra care for maintanance , and there you have the 21 horses always asking for more revv's. Gives you a decent mileage of 40-45 if ridden sanely and the Ripping constantly gives around 25-30.

DEMERITS:- You never know what surprise bike has for you , but as far as i know all the issues at least 80% are solved from the 2010 lot.

I mentioned that in my post, I dont know why but from the time I got my bike, I haven't been able t hit 50 even once. I know there's the run in period but even after 800kms done its chugging along at 43kmph.

You got me there but the thing is I love the looks of the FZ and Fazer so I had to include it in the list.
In Karizma feel only the R type is worth the money? Cuz I heard the zmr is really all that new in features.

I have to agree, I'm only considering it cuz I have the choice. Like I've said think the Karizma R is worth is, what do you say? About the P220, I've got a few issues about Pulsars in general so I dont want to get one.

@Yeshu_hyd, Thanks for answering, man

1. why you are doing away with Uni..
- the reason doesn't hold ground.. if it is limiting below 50.. must be a very small fault.. must visit service center and get it done.. Even for selling it, no one will buy it in current condition..

for smooth sailing at 80 and occasional 100, Uni is one of the best in terms of monoshock and engine refinement.suppose you get a fazer and have same limiting to 50KMPH prob.. then?

2. first get your Uni sorted out. (read even for selling).. Now, If you are not happy with the bike

1. performance:
- upgarade to higher section-- read P220, ZMR, R15.

2. Looks:
- as u said fazer/ fzs/ anything else.. (Personally I don't agree though.. as looks remain for a month or so only.. then it's about performance only.. )

3. cruiser
- Avenger, RE etc.

better get that money and invest in some good riding gears.. read helmet, jacket, shoes, gloves..

Best Of Luck..

@Nitin_traveller, you're right, I guess I being too careless. So i'll give for a service to address the speed issues and see how things work out. Thanks man.
@Sarvajit, I'll see the results of the service and if it's still being a pain, I'll go and get me a zma-r

The resale value is already dropped buddy. I don't see any reason to change to another 150cc after just 3 months, that too with a Unicorn.

That's part of the reason, one of my friends offered to buy it at 55k, which isn't shabby.
But I'll decide after giving it for service tomo.
Btw, you into anime?

FZ is a great bike and one of the best for city commuting.. but if you want a real power upgrade switch to RTR or 220...
