But calling it "not realiable" is perfectly ok. Is it..??

first of all read the whole post before replying. I never called it UNRELIABLE. I just said it's reliability should be established & it would take time

In case there are issues then let the owners (there are many in xBhp) speak about it.

Ok, accepted your clarifications.

I think that 7 months of event free experience says a lot of things.

Well, this thread is turning into a debate.
For the sake of the one who has posted the question, here is my take on both bikes.

Pulsar 135LS

+ Zippy performance courtesy the 4 valve engine and light weight (122 kg kerb weight) body.

+ Sharp handling thanks to the new chassis and firmer suspension

+ Good fuel efficiency (I got around 55-58 kmpl in my two week ownership)

+ Loaded with features: Digital Speedometer, Split seat, Split grab rail, Clip on handlebars, Backlit switches

- Slight vibes at around 6000 rpm (vanishes after that though)

- Slighty firmer suspension

Gladiator

+ Great engine, almost gives the feeling of a high revving 4 valve engine.

+ Good handling

+ Good ride quality as well

- Somehow the bike has never sold in numbers to its potential

And oh yes.. the Pulsar 135LS is now coming with the "Split Two Piece" hugger design and half chain cover (that was available in Indonesia) in India too..!!

OT Question: Why are there so many anti- bajaj posts here on xBHP?

@TS.. all said and done, I think you can go for P135LS blind folded, unless your heart is beating for Gladiator.

I don't understand why people need 1 year to understand that a machine's reliable. Some may do 5k kms in a year.. but others will cover 10k kms in just 6 months. So why 1 year??

Aren't we hearing about damaged alloy wheels on FZ's?? dead spark plugs on Honda's? So why is that people always jump on Bajaj for just about anything?

You obviously.
Unless its Moose who's trying to find out "who"?

At least you accept that till now there has been no issues..!!

Like I have said, I have lived with the bike for 2 weeks. Its better than not having sat on it and still act an "expert" on it.

By the way, the Pulsar 135LS was launched last Dec, so in July 2010, it makes around 7 months have passed since its launch.
So by the "1 year standard", the P135LS should receive the certificate of a "reliable" bike after 5 more months..!!

5 months is not too much to wait for. Come on P135LS.. you can do it..!! Ha Ha ha.

Absolute incorrect argument. Re-read my comment.

I wrote, about performance in both the bike's suggestion. Did you find me saying P135 is unreliable, No, I said pulsar's engine are notorious i.e. Pulsar brand has been notorious for having non -reliable engine. If you want me to change my judgment just because you find your 2 week old Pulsar 135 is doing great, i am sorry that doesn't change my opinion because pulsar as a brand has 3 more variants keeping P135 aside.

Toughness, Yamaha's are known for tough engine. Pulsar engines on the other hand are not, granted P135 is has a altogether a new engine but still, i will believe it when i see the long term review not 2 week preview.

BTW, likewise there are many ways to nit pick, we are just here to help a buddy to select a bike. You like your p135 ?, cool. I don't have problem with it. Like i said in my suggestion. If he is looking for good resell value, performance and mileage P135 is nice vehicle to get. PERIOD.

+1. Well said. People do not read posts properly and just jump to conclusions. I still do not understand their logic of how they prove the long-term reliability in just 5-6 months. If somebody says Bajaj's egines are not durable in long term, they cannot digest it because they blindly love Bajaj (I am sure they know the Bajaj's history).

My two cents--
Both Motorcycles are equally able.
Performance wise the P-135 shall just edge out the new Yamaha SS125(yup, this is the BSIII or BS IV version)

If the rider has a good built and rides a bit sedately, Yamaha is what i would recommend(doesn't mean it can't blaze, but you get the drift?)

I just rode a P-135 for a very brief period and the acceleration is surely in FZ territory.

The Yamaha shall age more gracefully than the Bajaj.

Your arguments are all based on your "Perceptions" that too of products which is not the P135LS (the specific model on which the question has been asked) that too without any real experience of the bike.

Anyway, one year since the launch of the P135LS is not far enough. I know that most of you will be eating your words or keeping
quiet soon and also post the 1 year period.

There is also an ownership thread of the P135LS in Xbhp, and browsing through that will be more value adding for the guy who has posted the question than going through the brand war going on in the last couple of pages.

I have more "Pulsar" experience than most guys around here. Right from Classics (2001), to UG 4's (2010). Each and every one of them, with all their plus points and their issues. I am also the owner of the P220 DTS-Fi, from the initial (most problematic) 2007 batch.

So whatever I say of the Pulsar 135LS has been bench marked on the previous experiences (brief and long term) of the bikes and definitely not reading about it on the computer screen and forming blind opinions.

The new P135LS has impressed me a hell of a lot. And mind it the P135LS is just the shape of things to come from the future Pulsar range and is just a teeny weeny tip of the ice-berg.
