So whatever I say of the Pulsar 135LS has been bench marked on the previous experiences (brief and long term) of the bikes and definitely not reading about it on the computer screen and forming blind opinions.

The new P135LS has impressed me a hell of a lot. And mind it the P135LS is just the shape of things to come from the future Pulsar range and is just a teeny weeny tip of the ice-berg.
Payeng, being a member here for longtime, I know you very well. It will be assuring to know about the P135 being a different Pulsar with your experience. But, based on the Bajaj's past history, it is too early to take the reliability factor of P135 for granted in such a short time. It is good that the P135 is showing positive signs of reliablity. I have been following the P135 ownership regularly. I am happy that there are no issues as of now. I would love to see the P135 reliable. It has such a nice blend of performance and efficiency. I hate to see it bogged down by regular Pulsar's unrelaiblity issues.

Reliability factor of P135 is not a detterant for the buyer not to go with it. There are some section of buyers who want a proven reliable product and it is for the buyer to decide on what prodcut it suits him based on members' inputs here.

Sure, we know who love what.. as far as History goes.. Pulsar was, is the best 150cc (reflected in sales) since launching way back in 2001.. and it will be the same for at least another 5 years. If 9 years is not enough to judge reliability.. then I donno what you guys are talking about!!! If it was so notorious for anything it would have been driven out of market by competetion.. just like what happened to CBZ with Pulsar's entry. Couple of Pulsars here and there would have had problems.. and performance goes down when you don't maintain the bike properly. In my friend's circle..none of the owners had to open engine in their 4-5 years of experience with P150/P180.. I think you are getting the point. I don't understand why people still bat for and try to argue that Jap bikes are best when they themselves experience major problems with them.

The initial feel that the P135LS is giving is that things are much better now.
One has to thank the competition (Honda/Yamaha) for that.

The image of Pulsars giving issues mostly come from the earlier generation Pulsars (Classics, UG I & UG II's). These older generation bikes did face issues especially related to the clutch and gearbox. Plus the refinement level was a bit low especially when the bike was ripped. On the UG III's the clutch became perfect but occassional false neutrals in the gearbox were still there. But the latest UG IV have a very good gearbox feel and the engine feels comparatively refined too.

Pulsar 150 has been the best selling 150 cc bike in the country without a doubt and continues to be so. It definitely is a proven product else it would not be selling in thousands every month for 9 straight years.

The issues related to the earlier Pulsars is still a legacy / baggage which is still fresh in some minds.
But things have improved a lot.

+1 to that. People simply can't understand that Pulsars have proven themselves in the market. If we try to point that out and recommend Pulsar to anyone.. they say blindly in love with Bajaj.

I dont know why people resort to Brand bashing when they have never used the particular product from that Brand.

the reliability factor that the people here are talking about is plain BS. if a person is prepared to take care of their bike ,even a bajaj bike will last a good 5-6 yrs without any problem at all and by that time most of the riders would upgrade to a new bike.

i had owned the Unicorn from the very 1st lot(got it within 15 days of its launch) for 5 yrs,has a Honda stunner at home and rides a 220 for the past 3yrs which is my favourite among the 3.when i decided on 220 over the ZMA a lot of guys tried to dissuade me citing reliability reasons.however i decided for the 220 coz i have never seen a well maintained bike (be it pulsar or honda) giving any problem. i have enjoyed my 220 to the fullest and never felt that it is not reliable or reliability is a problem.besides my 220 is cheaper to maintain than the japanese counterpart.

when by Bro wanted to buy the stunner i suggested him to wait for the new unicorn( shown in th auto expo) or the P135.but he wanted only looks and reliability hence bought stunner. result : now he is totally dissatisfied with the performance and after test riding his friend's P135 he regrets his decision of buying the stunner.what is the use of reliability when you can not enjoy it coz your heart is with some other bike.

My advice to the thread starter:

make a list of your preferance , like comfort, power, mileage, handling , braking , pillion comfort, styling etc. and keep reliability at the last coz neither gladi
nor the pulsar will show much depreciation in performance even after 5-6 yr s if you maintain your bike well.
take a test ride try to gauge the bikes on these aspects and take the reliability thing into account only if both the bikes fare equally in all the other criterias.

I rode a P-180 V1 for ~25K in a span of 2.5years and never faced any clutch/gear box issue. The only issue which i faced was of the starter motor.

Personally, i do not like the feel of current gearbox by bajaj, on the contrary my Karizma faced much issues compared to the P-180

The twin Yamahas which i am riding nowadays are running absolutely fine and i am very satisfied.

Edit--
Pulsar has launched a wee bit revised version of the P-135

Bang on!
I have been stressing in all the threads where Bajaj bikes are being bashed for being unreliable that maintenance is the key.. if you don't maintain a jap bike properly soon it will also start falling off! A well maintained Bajaj bikes can last a lifetime..

Performance wise the P-135 shall just edge out the new Yamaha SS125(yup, this is the BSIII or BS IV version)

If the rider has a good built and rides a bit sedately, Yamaha is what i would recommend(doesn't mean it can't blaze, but you get the drift?)

I just rode a P-135 for a very brief period and the acceleration is surely in FZ territory.

The Yamaha shall age more gracefully than the Bajaj.
when did this has been launched??

Had seen at a dealership some 15 days ago.
The launch hasn't been hyped as such, so we didn't see any promotion and/or new advertisement citing the same.

The upgrades may be very subtle, but has been done to make it BS x compliant with minor tweaks in looks department.

^^Where is the thread-starter?
