hi Frens and Freaks.
![]() i am going to buy my second bike soon. So i need your "Ad"-vice....oops... adWise... coz only a 'wise' man can give it genuinely. i am going through ownership pages these days.. and after much thinking i have short-listed following bikes. * P220- Fi * P220 carb. my requirements are.. hummm..! * long distance rides (over 200kms) fortnightly * usual commutes... about 100 kms on weekends and 20 kms daily. * riding with girlfren. (so looks are an ego-criteria) Out of this i have to do a little of bumper to bumper traffic commuting as well and mostly flyovers and highways. I want a bike which i will be happy riding for the next 5 years. in case of Pulsars ... the main grouse is that after 6 months i might not have the uniqueness of 220.... but this can be compromised for the FUN of Riding. I considered Fazer... mainly due to looks... but 153cc... ?.. ahh... it would be too small for me coz i have been riding P180 since last 4 years. Pulsars are a maintenance free bikes i feel. my main point is.. shall i go in for fuel injected or the carb version.. and if i choose to go for the Fi thing then will i be getting it on black alloys. (i know Fi version is a bit slower than the carb.) but that doesn't make much difference. or suggest me something which you think i should be knowing before buying these bikes... ? |

@TS you wont get black alloys with fi...but you can go for powder coating the alloys and engine...but that would really cost a bomb... imo even if your bike breaks down in the middle of a highway,a layman mechanic can fix a carb anywhere but fi distinctively needs a probiking..but dtsi cant replace the purr or the initial moments of acceleration of an FI ... heck you are getting better speed, mileage and easy maintained carb than fi...go for the new one.. did you consider zma-r

Sorry to say that any local garage mech's knowledge has also grown up. I've personally witnessed (so does 80+ odd members in this forum) during our TSG2G when one of our fellow xBhpian's P220 broke in middle of no where. He took sometime to fix, but he did eventually & delivered it.

I am delighted.. 4 replies in so little time..
i was expecting that this point is so much discussed that even moderators will not approve my query.. :P Anyways.. thanks All ![]() @ Ken Da.. can you please write a few lines stating why you have recommended Fi.? though even i know that in the middle of the road repairing a carb version is much easier. Somewhere i feel Fi can give me the kind of refinement that i will get from Karizmas. But repairing it would be big deal considering the amount of training being given to Bajaj mechanics. And maybe in the long run Fi would be more durable. @ Satan.. yup i have considered Zma-R.. but that is not value for money.. not even tubeless tyres. Though the engine is supersmooth. But gadgets are also required. And Karizmas feel dated.. They were launched 10 years back... not changed since then. P220 has a new hood and a projector lamp. I have thought over a lot in rejecting Fazer... though in LOOKS.. its my Personal favorite... i can keep looking at this bike for hours. And infact I like Fazer-1000 more than R1. ... though not an obvious choice. But 150cc draws me back. i am going to enquire about the new Fazer... it was discussed in some of the Xbhp forums that Yamaha is launching a new Fazer. .. lets hope it to be true . |

@ aagree..
i live in Delhi where we are faced with all UP mechanics... They don't repair things they apply "jugaad"... i wonder it might happen that i spend extra grand buying a Fi... and after a thousand kms some mechanic comes and convinces me to get a carb fitted on the machine due to recurring problems.

FI power delivery is linear..but carb version not bad either..Are there any serious perfomance difference between the two, even in levels of refinement?
Reliability? well the newer ones come with some sort of upgraded piston? not too sure..just read about that somewhere. |
