Default new bike: yamaha or bajaj

hey, this is my first post at xbhp im going to be 20 in september and my dad has agreed to buy me a bike of course its going to be temporary, ie under 60 k. cant strecth it coz i want a bullet after a year and a half. my dad said i can buy a bullet after getting used to another bike for a while. ive narrowed my choice down to the bajaj pulsar 135 and the yamaha gladiator (ss125) i still feel that the yamaha will be the best choice for me. i was very impressed with the feel of the yamaha compared to bajaj. oh and this is also my first bike. so im open to suggestions and opinions. so kindly please tell me about any other bikes i may have missed out or facts about other bikes in the same range i may not know. thanks

Kirthan, after a year and a half when you want to sell off your bike, neither the Yamaha or the Bajaj are going to fetch you much. The depreciation is going to be pretty heavy. I would rather look at a Honda Twister or a used Unicorn for about 50k.

to learn riding sorry to get used to riding go for second hand bike .you are twenty now right in my opinion go for a used Rx the best bike Indians have rode till date .since you are planning for a bull later Rx would be the best choice (you will get used to oil spills by the two strokes by then you get your bull which will leak like anything )And probably you would be in a college the music of Rx exhaust note its a head turner go for it .( Also consider the shogun but availability of spare parts is very scarce keep a note of it that's why i suggested a Rx for which the spares are available yet )

Raja, Used Rx is a good suggestion. But gotta add that the new UCE Bullets dont leak much oil anymore.

As @need4Torque said Yamaha or bajaj loses its resale value to a greater extent after 2 or 3 years... go for herohonda.... mine HH bike sold for a pretty gud amount even after 5 years!!

as we know HH bikes have good resale value..so consider HH Hunk & CBZ Xtreme as an option as well..test drive them & decide which one suits you better..

among P135 n Yamaha Gladiator..my pick would be Gladiator..

Gladiator has been discontinued.
Production stopped.
Now they are clearing the stocks.
Go for YBR 125 or SZ

actually you are wrong. The gladiator has been transformed into the ss125.

@T.S:- If you are too concerned about mileage then the ss125 might churn out a bit more mileage than the p135 but that too if you ride the bike very carefully. But if want a powerfull bike & if you dont have any problems with bajaj then p135 is the answer. It is the most powerfull bike in its segment.

@kirthan your dad said right. Bullet is definitely heavier than rest of the commuter pack we get in India.. if you will sell it within a couple of years then need4torque may be right. P135 is indeed a very good bike Dunno much bout Yamaha 125 as it is new. To accustom to biking 125cc catagory would be a good option at 20. Twister sells on a premium i believe(dunno exactly how much..) So you can look to Yamaha 125 if you find it good. I am sure it would make a great buy...(though i wish it had the front disc)
