Default Help! Getting a bike for the first time.

Hey Guys! I've just joined the community. This is the first time I'm getting a bike for myself. I used to ride a Kinetic Honda (my Dad's Kinetic Honda-bought even before i was born in 1990).I have little technical knowledge about bikes. Have a little experience with bikes though I've ridden some bikes like like Discover 125,Pulsar 150, and Karizma R, a total of about 100 kms.
I'm torn in between two bikes. Infact it's actually between power and looks.
The 1st one is Pulsar 220 with fairing (cost 88k).
The 2nd one is Yamaha Fazer (cost 84.4k).

I stay at Mumbai. I won't ride my bike for more than 25 kms per week but may go for a long ride once in a blue moon. And mostly I'll be alone with no pillion rider.

My other option is Karizma R (cost 88k) ,though it is very common on roads and ZMA costs bomb(130k for white, 111k otherwise). Though I would buy Karizma R if I could modify it to look like ZMA within 5-6k.
I dont want to spend too much money on maintainence (as I've read in case of Pulsar 220 owners).

Any suggestions for other bikes are also invited (within the same range though).

Thanks in advance

the karizma R is actually the ZMA-R. The one with the fairing is ZMR

The difference between Fazer and the ZMA-R are only in the performance segment and the looks, with the ZMA-R being much better than the Fazer. Looks are subjective but i guess most would say Fazer looks better. Everything else they are on par.

Since you ride <25 km a week fuel efficiency won't be problem. But then again, both deliver around the same mileage when ripped.

Fazer & Karizma R both are maintainence free.My vote for Karizma R.
And dont even think about putting the full fairing of ZMR on ZMA!Zma has an air cooled engine, it requires air to pass through the engine.

To the original poster.
I see no wisdom in spending 80,000+ for a high-performance bike that is going to spend most of its time sitting idle.

25 Kms / Week comes to 1200 KMs/year. Add 1200 KMs of touring and it still comes to 2500KMs per year. After 1 year, your bike will be worth about 80% of its street value. All for 2500 KMs?

My suggestion: buy a five-year old good specimen of either Karizma or Pulsar 200/180 you are reasonably sure has been maintained well. I'd lean towards a Karizma.

Not exactly what you might want to read, but makes sense after the excitement dies down.

Excuse my ignorance, but this is the second time I have come across this word "JOELED" in 10 minutes. Does it mean refurbished?

The term "Joeled" means getting your bike modified by an expert by the name of Joel. There are a lot of Xbhpians using his modifications with good results.

A P220 Would be a Waste for You
Coz as it will be lying in your garage a lot of moolah would go into maintainence!
Get a 150CC Commuter to suit your purpose.
also the Fazer is a hassle free bike but at 85grands i feel its costly!
