Certainly not!! but it's good enough to stop the bike from skidding and is cheaper plus easier to install on P200. I know some of the P220 users done it already and had good results in general.

Positives:
There are lot of positives.; you guys know it better than anybody else.

Negatives:
1.Bike has become a bit old.
2.It feels quite cumbersome to drive with a pillion on board (read wife)
3.Hard suspension when compared to other bikes esp my pulsar 200.
4.No disc brake so braking is a concern.

2007 Pulsar 200 which has done 28k

Positives:
There are many so not going to discuss it.

Negatives
1.Taking U-turns is always scary.
2.Even after using all these years,I am pretty scared of using the front disc brakes in pulsar 200 as i have skidded thrice already.
3. karnataka registration.I moved to chennai now.

Pulsar 200 is my daily driver and i use fiero occassionaly.

My dilemma:
With cops on alert to make a quick buck out of whatever they set their sight on,Its difficult for me to survive here with a karnataka registration bike.

So should i sell this bike and get a new one or get NOC and change the registration to TN?
If yes, How much can i sell it for and how much will be the NOC and TN registration procedure will cost?

Other option is to sell fiero and buy a new bike to use here and keep Pulsar 200 ocassionally.
How much can a 2001 suzuki fiero fetch?

Which bike will suit me better?
Priority
1.Comfort>Refinement>Power>Mileage

3 bikes in contention are
1.yamaha SZ-R but i like the looks of SZ-X better
2.Honda unicorn Dazzler
3.Apache RTR ABS (fast bike with less skidding problem i guess)

Sorry for the long post.I need all your expert suggestions.
I had the same problem with my P200. I changed the damn tires.
so Its a simple solution for you mate. P200's front disc got very good bite but the stock tires suck big time. So change the tires (especially the front one) to something better. e.g. IRC and feel the difference in braking and handling.

if you still feel scared get a mechanical ABS for now and wait. As there's gonna be a few launches in performance segment later this year.

Secondly I dont see its a wise move to sell a bike which has done only 28K and not giving any problems. And there is no considerable upgrade from P200 in the market right now (except CBR250R ofcource). Sell the fiero though, its too old. I believe finding spares will be hard.

A few tips for braking:
Before braking observe the road surface before you. dont apply full force if its wet or there's gravel on road. same applies off the road.

On termac(clean) you can apply full force. Watch the rear view mirros before doing so last week a uncle on old pulsar banged into my rear tire while I braked hard.

and remember the universal rule for disk brakes: use only three fingers at max. For P200 two fingers do well anytime. In traffic, use only one finger.

Take care!

+1 to the above reply, actually after some thinking, i feel like doing what the above post says is more sensible... because you can use up your p200 till its 60k+ and save up lots of money, that money can be later used in buying a better bike when your current bike is old... or you can use it for some other purpose(after all, bike are not the only things money can buy)

Bottom Line: Keep the p200, do the modifications, sell the fiero...
p.s. take care of your bike and ride safe

and yea, some people said getting the no objection certificate isnt tough, i dont think youll have to spend more than 5-6k for it

Thanks a lot for the tips.
I have already changed my tyres to Pirelli sports demon. After that i did not face any panic breaking situations.so cannot really say.Touch wood.

Does this mehcanical ABS really helps in avoiding locking up both the wheels?

Any idea how long is the NOC valid?

Thanks mate.
Whatver bike i buy will be the last bike as i will be moving to cars for regular usage.
As of now,i depend on my bike for daily office usage.
So i thought of getting a excellent city bike with good comfort, power and mileage.
that is why shortlisted SZ-X and Dazzler.
May be i should wait for some other new launches with ABS as Apache is too common nowadays.

Will soon post fiero in classifieds.

Which one will suit my daily commuting needs?
SZ-X or Dazzler?
Priority1 No tiredness even after long journies
Priority 2: power and mileage
My daily travel is 45kms to and fro and regularly i drop my wife in her office and go to my office..i.e 85kms totally.
so need a very comfortable bike.
As of now pulsar 200 is comfortable when compared to fiero.
I guess for getting NOC vehicle should be present in Bangalore and i am not sure how many days does it take to get the NOC.

Thanks all for replying.

Send a PM to antz.bin to know more about mechanical ABS, he mentioned in one of the threads about it.

I'm not sure if the bike needs to be in Bangalore to get NOC, if you give the chasis number that should be good enough.

I suggest sell both bikes&get a new bike after adding some extra money to it.
Choose the new bike according to your requirements&budget range.
All the best!

The Apache RTR180 ABS should be the best bet for you...I also have a 2000 model Suzuki Fiero which has done just around 28K Kms and in somewhat good condition so i'm keeping it...

Fiero (especially earlier gen ones) have a reputation for being a good performer. So, you can sell the P200 and use Fiero till the time you buy a car. Else, sine you say P200 is comfy, you can sell Fiero and use P200 for time being.

In short, I wouldn't suggest you spending 60-70k for a new bike now or keeping both the bikes. 60-70k you would spend on new bike+resale amount you would get after selling either of these bikes would be handy when you decide to buy a car.

All this assuming that supply of Vitamin M is limited and its usage needs to be priortized
