Default Bike selection help...

Hi I am planning to take bike and my requiremnts are as follows

Budjt : 60k ( can add 3,4k If required )

1) 110- 125 cc

2) Good CONSTANT( i heard few bikes give mileage initially ) mileage must give above 50

3) Less maintainence and good quality ( as i am planning to use the bike for more than 3.5 yers )

4) Atleast looks average

5) Easy handling. ( I learnt bike riding just one month ago )

After doing research i found CB twister, shine nad new Pulsar 135LS.

I am confused which one to deicde ...

I heard shine braking is not good n vibrates after 60 n skids ( any way my driving speed MAX be will normally 55-60 ) N
Twister looks good but when u look at back side from a distance looks like a bicycle tyres... only front lokks are aweseome
@ Pulsar.. But i feel more comfortable with 4 gears as i normally will not cross 60 n learnt riding one month ago so felt comfortable with 4 gears.

So pls help me out guys ...!!

Default Same query

I am having the same query

Some of my requirements -
- Easy to ride (I dont have any on road experience of a bike, Used to driving gearless scooters, have some practice of geared ones though)
- Comfortable ( Need it for a daily commute of about 10 km to and from office in bangalore traffic)
- Lightweight (I'm myself just 54 kg, not athletic build )
- Good mileage (60+, soaring petrol prices)
- Low on maintenance
- Good resale value (In case I want to switch to better powered bikes)
- Looks are not important (but would be great add-on)

These are the bikes I'm considering and the reasons
Honda Twister - Lightweight, Good Mileage, Great looks
Bajaj Pulsar 135LS - Mixed feedback from my friends who own it
Honda Shine - Comfortable, Trust on Honda, Good reviews

Please suggest which bike I should choose out of these. My budget is 50K-65K. Right now I'm inclined towards twister.

To both of you, straight away strike out Shine from the list, it's simply not worth the money and there are far better options available at that price. But then again, if you want Honda at any cost, then Shine/Stunner are the options in that range. P135LS is the best bet you got in that price range.. decent looks, outstanding performance, sharp handling, good mileage(55+ kmpl). Other options are Yamaha SZ-R/SS125 (tyres are only sore point in SZ-R), Discover 150 (not so great looking, everything else is better in this bike apart from tyres). If svc is not a problem, then consider Suzuki Slingshot as well.

If mileage is a concern then Twister/Discover 125/Suzuki Slingshot are better bets than SS125/D150/SZ-R. Also, a 5-gear bike gives you good mileage when compared with comparably specced 4-gear bike i.e. given that engine cc, bhp, torque figures are comparable 5-gear bike will give you better mileage and will be much more relaxed than a 4-gear bike. Even Passion plus is worth a try if mileage is the main concern.

Finally, test driving the short listed bikes will clear lot of doubts/concerns. You will instantly know whether the bike is for you or not. It all boils down to selecting the bike that suits you best.
