Hi Guys,
This is Rahul from Pune. I am a habitual reader of this site. The reason I used habitual here is, whenever I login to my system in office, the first thing I do is open and read xBHP logs that I have left incomplete last day (instead of opening my Outlook Inbox and check for any FIRE mail.. ). This is my first log here. The reason I am writing today is, I really can't hold on now to jump into this BIG ocean of bikers. And I know you guys will definitely help me for all the (stupid) queries I am going to ask about bikes and bike rides. I want to know more and more about REs and hence the subject line.. So I think the introduction part is going toooo long. Getting to the point. I am going to book a Royal Enfield Thunderbird TwinSpark. Would love to here from gurus and owners about the bird. I am 26 and look wise I am a little less than average body type and 5.9" height. I have not shared my decision with many of my friends. I want to surprise them by showing it once I get the delivery of bird. But people with whom I shared this said that it won't suit me . But who cares, what others feel. What matters is what I feel while riding. And I am damn sure that I'm gonna feel like the most powerful person when I am on my bull. ![]() So the questions are: 1. Most people say that TBTS is not a bull. As far as engine, power, torque is concerned it is the same as any other REs in 350 segment. What differentiates it from others is looks. Then why they say it when it has no relation with the performance of bike? Would like to know performance wise difference in TBTS and other REs in 350 segment. 2. As others do, I am also planning to change the stock silencer of bird. I have read so many threads but still confused if I should change it on day one or should wait for some time. 3. Will it anyhow affect the performance or fuel efficiency of engine when silencer changed? 4. Considering performance, is Classic 350 a better choice than TBTS? (I will love to hear a NO for this one, but please be honest & don’t care my emotions.) @ mods, I know, these questions are asked several times in forum. But would like to get all answers in one thread rather than searching, as it will help me to put up my thoughts depending on the answers. Please approve the thread. Thanks in advance!! r |

Iam serious abt my loaded shotgun!!!! The difference lies in the feel of the bike...the RE 350 and TBTS incorporate same heart but the feel of riding a TBTS is in cruiser segement and RE is in commute segment....TBTS looks more than a bull something different but surely not a thing to be messed around... Power wise yes there is a difference but not much...looking at ur style of asking doubts i think you are on a proving mission....if blood is on your hands then you are holding the right weapon which is the TBTS... Hope it solves all your queries.

Hey Eshan,
Thanks for the answer mate. But somehow I feel that TBTS does not have that thump of an old style bullets. I want a real big solid thump to let people know that a bull is nearby and better they start looking in that direction for a glimpse of it (as I always do, rather it happens ). I also feel that the Classic 350's up swept silencer will add more in looks and will be better in off-roading as the stock one is too low and long.It will be really very nice of you if you elaborate the effects on performance and fuel efficiency.. P.S.: If it's really gonna affect adversly, I'll go as you suggested, the stock silencer.. |

Rahul, the new UCE REs do not have the thump of the ol' engines and no amount of mods is gonna change that. That was essentially the characteristic sound of the Cast Iron engines with heavy crank and slow spinning engine. But the new ones have a much better top end and rev up much faster, if you like that.

See this is the reason why we all are stating go for the TBTS...new ones do have the look but not the feel....The TBTS is still alive and kicking..Would surely make the difference..n the wide feel of the bike will make its presence too... As per your silencer and exhaust changes....yes you can do that re but dont..see its simple it will take one afternoon max but whats then???you made your bull go to the gym and pumped steroids in it!!!! makes a difference but that guilt is still there even if you scare 1000 people in a crowd....so i suggest go for the stock one keep it simple and let it do whats its meant for!!! trust me you will be happy for that.
